It will be hard for me to support any team that features Lagarette Blount as their main RB. To say that Blount doesn't fit their offense is a huge understatement. I simply don't understand Belichick. He never gives any one RB many carries, unless they are just slow (Antwan Smith, Ridley) or a slow thug (Corey Dillon and Blount). Shane Vareen is clearly the best RB on their roster, yet he has been effectively slotted into Woodhead's old role.
Why is it that the most odious blacks imaginable-like Blount-luck into such perfect situations? Imagine what Hillis could have done in that offense, in Blount's role. And how lovable the Patriots would be. Just like Gerhart being stuck behind the only RB in the league that somehow never needs a breather, and Burkhead going to the team that would be least likely to use him, while several different black late round picks and free agents now get golden opportunities to carry the ball in the NFL. Where are the white Bobby Raineys, Edwin Bakers, etc.?
The only way a Broncos' Super Bowl victory would be a bad thing is if Manning was hurt and they brought in some unemployed black quarterback (IS there such a thing as an unemployed black quarterback?) Otherwise, I'm rooting for them to win.
I said it when he came out and when he was a rookie, Blount is a very talented runner. That doesn't mean a talented runningback since he lacks skills to pass protect and receive but as a runner he is very good and its good to see that Woodhead wasn't being screwed over simply because he was White.
He fits the offense very well, since Brady is getting older, the Patriots need more balance with the running attack. This is something Sean Payton should learn with Brees. It is good to have a big back to run in a passing type offense and wear defenses down.
Toby Gerhart has a running style very similar to Corey Dillon (who wasn't slow imo), and would do great in the Patriots offense. The Patriots can't take on every White player in the league, they have McGuffie, who could switch up from rb to the slot, might be insurance for Amendola not staying healthy.
Hillis would look good in the offense as well, he looks better catching out of the backfield than Gerhart, although both have good hands. They wouldn't need to rotate guys in and out if he had either. However, even though Bellicheck is a pretty White friendly coach, he doesn't push the limits too far.
When he had Welker, Gronk and Woodhead on offense, and no respectable outside receiver, Edelman was a healthy scratch, despite him showing he can play the position when Welker was briefly out ( although he did play db one year due to injury) which seems to be the only way to start more Whites.
I mean Bellicheck is supposed to be a defensive guru, but his d sucks. Before they were so great on offense, they had more Whites on defense and less on offense. Now its the reverse, even though there are guys that come into the rotation, he prefers slow linebackers that can't cover leaving Fletcher on the bench for most of the time. They still are one of the Whitest teams out there, so I don't see why not to root for them because of Blount. Out of all the reasons that is the most ridiculous.
as far as Rainey and Baker, we have more talented guys that never got a shot, Nate Kmic, Brock Jackolski, Chase Reynolds (on a practice squad due to coaches son playing with him), JJ DiLuigi etc. And the thing is, those last 3 could play the slot just as well.
Baker is on his 4th team with less than 200 yards rushing for his career. Rainey is on his 3rd team and will be 27 next year, less than 600 rushing career yards. Leonard should have gotten more carries but Rainey had a few "flashes", but averaged less than 3 ypc on 5 out of the 12 games, almost half, with 2 big games.
As far as the Broncos, if Welker is healthy then I wouldn't mind rooting for them to win. Two White receivers is a big deal, but if its just Decker, I dunno, I wouldn't be upset if they won but it wouldn't be as good as the Pats winning. Decker and Welker are established among dwfs as being top receivers. Edelman hasn't earned that respect despite his 1k season this year, putting up a big performance in the playoffs might change that. It would be nice to see Welker make a circus catch to win the big one though, to make up for the "drops that cost them the game". Well it would be sweeter to see it in the playoffs against the Patriots to rub it in their face.
Edelman is nice, but he is going to get the same treatment as Welker, they aren't going to pay him when the time comes and when he deserves it. They will find another White guy to fill in his role. Which isn't that bad because an established White receiver goes to another team and it gives another guy a chance.
