Thrashen,

Is Edelman still playing any offense?

Tom Iron...

Well, his last catch came against Denver, where he was featured in a 5-WR set. In garbage time against the Bills on Sunday, he played receiver in place of Welker and had an “end-aroundâ€￾ rushing attempt.

Given his new-found defensive role, coupled with his various special teams roles, he seems to be merely an “emergency WR,â€￾ playing behind Welker, Branch, OchoHomoNegro, and black scrub, Tiquan Underwood. Black special teams player, Matthew Slater, is technically a WR, but he’s also played defensive back this year, barely playing as a WR. Recently, Slater has barely played on defense (not a single snap against the Bills). A few games back, Edelman disappeared on defense as well. Dane Fletcher played every single defensive snap last week against Miami, but was subbed out repeatedly for Tracy White and Brandon Spikes against the Bills.

The Patriots are wildly unpredictable in terms of what player starts, or even plays, during any given game. Defensively, their personnel decisions are very difficult to understand.

I'm a Lions fan, and watch Stafford/Calvin religiously. Calvin gets doubled and tripled teamed in almost every pass situation. Stafford's accuracy is often lacking, and a large percentage of Johnson's catches are either jump balls in which he's fending off those 3 guys, or body contortions in which he has to manuever to catch overthrown or underthrown balls. Rodgers freakishly hits Jordy in stride on almost every single pass, and he hasn't seen a double-team in years. He even laughs about the single coverage. Also, while the opponent's top cover guy sticks Johnson, Green Bay's top cover sticks Driver and Jennings.
body contortions... you mean like this?

someone already cleared up the whole triple coverage thing, I'll clear this up for you, most of those "underthrown and overthrown balls" are not really bad passes, the qb is usually throwing to where only his receiver can catch it. I don't know if you watched, but Jennings hasn't played recently and had a bad stretch to where it only took one man to take him out. Driver? seriously? you think people are worried about Driver over Nelson? Oh yeah and Nelson was playing with a 7th round pick yesterday at qb. Although he is great, Johnson isn't the only receiving threat on his team. From what I have seen out of Jordy, he is going to pass "megatron" up. Its not an insult to your precious afflete, its merely stating that I think Nelson is the best in the league, viewed alongside of Andre Johnson and Calvin Johnson. You can make arguments for all 3 but my argument is for Nelson.

I believe an article was referenced on the forum where the writer said Rodgers made Jordy Nelson the most efficient receiver in the NFL. LOL. Man, these writers are thick-skulled

The Packers facing the Patriots / Texans in the Superbowl would be a dazzling showcase of white athletic talent. I personally believe that New England’s white-friendly offense (Brady, Welker, Gronk, Woodhead, Light, Mankins, Connolly, Solder/Vollmer) will do more to ruin the Caste System’s white-abhorring pigeonholes than Houston’s white-friendly defense.

Thrashen, I'm only excited about watching playoff games that feature the Packers, Patriots and Texans. After that, I just don't care that much and might not even tune in for a minute for some games. Take Atlanta and NYG, why would I even bother to watch a pair of teams that don't have one entrenched starter on defense and no white wide receivers or RB's? Pretty much same can be said of the Detroit/NO matchup.

Even though, as I noted earlier in this thread, I'm not in love with Tebow and the Broncos I will try to watch the Broncos from start to finish and root real hard for them to beat Pitt. That's a team I'd love to see gone in round 1 and it absolutely could happen, even if Tebow ignores the superior Decker (once again) in order to boost his new pals (da Mary) ego with unwarranted targets.

My hope in the AFC is Houston beats Bengals. This could happen......The the Broncos edge Pitt, this also could happen -- notice how Clev. almost beat them twice in recent weeks?.....If this plays out, the next round will be very good for us at CF -- Broncos @ NE & Houston @ Balt.....Pats should beat Tebow and we can hope Yates beats Baltimore, setting up Houston @ NE title game.

In the NFC, I ABSOLUTELY could care less about anyone aside from the Packers. I don't even have a team I will "root against" if the Packers are not playing them. They are just all bland and, hopefully, don't make the Super Bowl.

I think Jordy's the best all-around receiver now. He beats the Johnson boys in versatility and has better hands. He's also been more durable to this point in his career.

Jordy is most comparable as an all-around receiver to Larry Fitzgerald, but is faster. In fact, I think Eric Decker and Riley Cooper are also comparable to Fitzgerald in size and skill set. Decker and Cooper could be as dominant as Jordy is becoming if given the opportunity, which of course is a big if. Those three along with Welker could smash the silly long-standing stereotypes about White receivers if things break right over the next few NFL seasons.
