And here's yet another one of those "character" guys the NFL specializes in, a first round draft pick by SF in 2017. How much you wanna bet he never serves a day, and most likely eventually the charges will conveniently be dropped for one bs reason or another: 49ers LB Reuben Foster was charged with felony domestic violence by the Santa Clara DA on Thursday. The charge stems from an incident in February in which Foster was accused of dragging his live-in girlfriend and punching her "8 to 10 times" during a dispute. In addition to the domestic violence charge, Foster is accused of forcefully attempting to prevent the reporting of a crime, possession of an assault weapon, and misdemeanor possession of a large capacity weapon magazine. According to the DA, he is facing more than 11 years in prison if convicted.

Just once I'd like to see one of these guys get a fair trial. That means they would not be allowed to skate on the crimes they commit.

During the Combine last year Foster demanded a hospital worker take him ahead of his turn and then threatened him when he wouldn't. He was kicked out of the Combine.

Who could have foreseen that Foster might get into altercations in the future? How could anyone have known?

Not surprising at all to those that follow the racial politics of football. Unless a White safety is a clear-cut superstar who was drafted in the first or second round (happens about once a decade ala Harrison Smith and Eric Weddle), he's always on the chopping block no matter how productive. Jeff Heath is better than most starting safeties. He had an impressive 63 solo tackles in '17, along with 3 picks, 2 forced fumbles and 5 pass defenses. And he's also as clutch as they come when it comes to making big plays at important times.

Surprisingly, the Cowboys are going to look to replace the safety who led the team in interceptions in 2017. Jeff Heath hasn’t been the best safety available, but he’s came up when the Cowboys needed him to. In the 2017 playoffs against the Green Bay Packers, Jeff Heath intercepted a pass overthrown by Aaron Rodgers late in the third quarter, which allowed the Cowboys to keep the game close.

Heath has come up clutch when needed, but the Cowboys are looking to find a more reliable safety. Receivers have been able to get across the middle of the field easier than the staff would like, and it seems that the Cowboys are interested in finding a new starting free safety. Heath likely would remain on the Cowboys as a good back up that can fill in at any moment.

Orwellian laugh of the day: Bleacher Report's Mike Freeman reports "the Patriots are the team most interested" in Louisville QB Lamar Jackson. Freeman adds Jackson's "popularity" is "rapidly" increasing around the league, and the quarterback has impressed teams "with his intelligence and football acumen." Based on the buzz, Jackson appears to be a lock for the first round, and it does not seem likely he falls to New England at No. 23 overall. With four of the first 63 picks, however, the Patriots have the ammo to move up if they so choose. Oklahoma State QB Mason Rudolph could also be an option as New England looks for its next quarterback of the future.

Totally agree with Thrashen. The Pats are a disappointment every year when it comes to the draft. Their core nucleus of players responsible for the success is a year older or have moved on. I really wouldn't be surprised to see them draft Jackson and all of the pundits make up the story line that Josh McDaniels gets a real athletic QB and we see another round of Tebow bashing. The irony is Vaner Esch, Miller, Rudolph, Taven Bryan, Harrison Phillips all fill huge holes on the Pats roster yet it is very likely that not one ends up in New England. They will just draft more Alabama and Rutgers players.

If the Patriots drafted Lamar Jackson the mainstream media would start a campaign to get Brady replaced. They would do everything they could to promote the idea that he should retire, no matter how well he's playing.

More Black Boys Behaving Very Badly and getting away with it:

TMZ reports Raiders CB Gareon Conley is being sued by the woman who accused him of sexual assault last year. The woman accused Conley of raping her at a hotel in Ohio last April. Conley was never arrested or charged with a crime and adamantly denies he did anything wrong. The woman claims she "sustained serious physical, psychological, emotional and mental injuries" as a result of the alleged incident.

And what a nice gift for this scumbag: The attorney for the girlfriend of Reuben Foster, who accused Foster of domestic violence in February, is now saying Foster never injured her. The woman says she fabricated the allegation, and pictures used as evidence against Foster actually came from another fight, with a woman. "(Foster) did not strike her, injure her or threaten her," said the woman's attorney. This is a huge break for the 49ers, and slightly lessens their linebacker need before the draft. Foster was one of the NFL's highest-impact rookies last year.

First off the Cowboys must be brain dead. FS Heath was terrific last year. This assault on white DBs is the ugliest new chapter in the history of caste sports.

Greg Olsen signed a new two year deal with the Panthers. Good to hear. There were rumblings that he might retire and go into broadcasting which he can do down the road.

I would like to see the Panthers draft Berrios or Watson. They could return punts. CM will have enough to do this season and shouldn't be returning punts as well. Even though CM runs slot type patterns adding a real slot to the team would really open things up for them. Of course bumble footed Newton isn't an ideal passer for a nifty slot but with enough good players around him they could overcome his deficiencies. If you have CM and Berrios (or Watson) out there at the same time defenses will be extremely stressed trying to handle their agility and quickness.

Weenieworld is getting grumpy when it comes to Jon Gruden. Why must Gruden "turn it around immediately" considering the Raiders have been terrible since 2003 except for one fluke season under Black Jack:

It's been pretty clear to see when looking at the Raiders' offseason; the team has taken on far more risky players than McKenzie ever did in his time calling the shots, and Gruden is going all out in adding a ton of veterans. Per Freeman, Gruden has "quietly consolidated power to the point where he's effectively the head coach, general manager, CEO and just about everything else." No other coach outside of maybe Bill Belichick has this much say in an organization, and we're not sure what Gruden has done to earn it. If he wins in Oakland it won't matter, but things could get ugly in a hurry if the Raiders don't turn this around immediately. That 10-year, $100 million contract -- the largest in NFL coaching history -- may prove to be a colossal mistake.

Freeman's comments are pretty stupid. It's unlikely that Gruden would have had to "quietly consolidate" his power. He would have had his power spelled out before he even took the job. He undoubtedly would have wanted complete control over the football operation before he even signed the contract.

As far as "things getting ugly in a hurry," this is ridiculous. In what way? On the part of who? Gruden is in the first year of a long contract. Nothing's going to happen in a hurry and he sure as heck isn't getting fired soon.

I have to imagine the Dolphins whitening up is Gase's doing. There was a big push here in South Florida for him to draft the local kid, Lamar Jackson by many of the Miami/Ft Lauderdale/Palm Beach newspapers. They wisely chose not to waste any draft capital by trading up, back into the first round to take him and instead brought in/drafted players to help Ryan Tannehill reach his potential. Mike Gesicki was an excellent pick, followed by Durham Smythe who will be an outstanding compliment to Gesicki. Some other under the radar moves the Dolphins made was the sumo purge 2 years ago, followed by another sumo purge this offseason where the team jettisoned Mike Pouncey and Jermon Bushrod. They brought in two white quality O-linemen in Josh Sitton and Dan Kilgore to replace them and an offensive line that was all sumo 2 years ago is now 3/5 white with the emergence of Jesse Davis at the other Guard spot. For the first time in a long while, I'm very optimistic about this team.

The problem with reports such as this is often they aren't true. A "journalist" will see what he thinks the team should do and then write something as if he got the information from a secret, anonymous source with the team, when in reality he made the whole thing up. Often these "journalists" have a leftist agenda to replace white players, so they falsely claim teams are trying to replace them.

In the recently concluded 2018 draft the Cowboys didn't draft a single safety. Obviously this report was wrong.

You saw the same thing this year in Miami. "Journalists" claimed that the Dolphins wanted to replace Ryan Tannehill and were considering Lamar Jackson. This also turned out to be false.

The stuff that these "journalists" made up about Jackson was downright laughable. I still can't get over how they convinced people that Bill Belichick was actually interested in him. I don't claim to be some sort of football "expert" but I know enough about the type of offenses teams run to understand what kind of skill set they look for at the position. There is no way in HELL someone with Jackson's skill set would have considered by Belichick to run his offense. Belichick runs the Erhardt-Perkins offense which Jackson failed miserably running at Louisville. His reads were wrong and was horribly inaccurate. Petrino had to move away from the Erhardt-Perkins offense to incorporate more of a spread game because Jackson literally COULD NOT run EP. This is also the reason Miami never considered Jackson despite the local yokels making up stories that the Dolphins were interested in him.
