Too be fair the bulk of Leftwich's playing time came before the NFL started manipulating the rules and making the game more passer friendly. Bridgewater is a lesser talent then Leftwich yet he sticks around while Leftwich lost his starting job after 3 seasons to Garrard and became a career backup.

The explosion of passing stats was underway before Leftwich came along. In 2004, when Leftwich was throwing 15 TD passes, Peyton Manning threw 49! A career peak of just 15 TD throws is very poor, especially for an immobile pocket quarterback. In '04 nine QBs threw at least 27 touchdown passes and 22 threw more than Leftwich's "career year" total of 15.

He's clearly a student of the game. And no one can question his toughness. Anyone who followed the NFL closely in the early '00s remembers seeing this clip, oh about a hundred times or more:

15 TD passes in 2004 is more impressive than 15 TD passes in 2020 (and we can't compare Leftwich to Peyton!...blasphemy lol). Considering the league is so much more pass happy now and Bridgewater's offensive coordinator was Joe Burrow's OC the year before. Black Jack Del Rio's Jaguars teams were focused around a strong running game and defense. In 2004 4 QBs threw 30+ TD passes - two of them were all time greats - Manning and Favre - the other two were having career years they never replicated - McNabb and Culpepper. In 2020 10 QBs threw for 30+ TDs. Bridgewater started 15 games and only threw 15 total TDs. I am no Leftwich fan but he was certainly a better quarterback than St. Teddy.

Nine QBs with at least 27 TD passes in '04 vs. 10 with 30+ last year is pretty similar actually. And going back in time, 14 QBs threw more than 15 TD passes in 1984 (with Dan Marino setting the mark of 48 that Manning broke in '04), and in 1994 17 QBs threw more than 15 TD passes, so Leftwich's output as a supposed rocket-armed pocket passer was pitiful, period.

I think Bridgewater is a better quarterback than Leftwich was, but am certainly not going to strongly defend my position as I care very little about that topic. Leftwich was a big bust as the 7th pick of the first round, while Bridgewater as a first rounder is a mediocre game manager, nothing special but not quite the bust Leftwich was.

Bridgewater looks like a backup - spot starter type. Certainly not worth 10 million a year.

The mainstream media denigrates Mitch Trubisky while praising Bridgewater. I'd take Trubisky over Bridgewater any day of the week.

Here's someone making the case for Andy Isabella. From an SB Nation blog.

https://www.revengeofthebirds.com/2020/12/18/22188502/cardinals-misfiring-on-isabella

That's from last season but it's a good article. The author isn't afraid to point out that Murray hasn't been able to hit Andy on his breaks very often, whereas in college "what Mark and Spencer Whipple (HC and OC at UMass then) were smart enough to do, was get their average QBs to throw to Andy right on his breaks. When you watch his UMass highlights—-look at how often the passes to him are delivered on time—-and many of the deep ones are thrown early enough and long enough to where Andy doesn’t have to slow down too much to have to wait on the football."

That's on Murray not the coaches -- the idea that Arizona coaches are instructing Murray not to hit Isabella on his breaks is ludicrous -- but at least he points out what the main problem is, and it's not Andy Isabella.

Called this one:

Broncos acquired QB Teddy Bridgewater from the Panthers in exchange for a 2021 sixth-round pick.
The Broncos have been reported to be in the mix for a QB via the draft since the start of the offseason. Drew Lock has failed to do much in his 18 games as a starter, averaging just 6.6 yards per attempt and leading the league in interceptions last year. It's hard to see Bridgewater as the long-term answer though. After playing admirably as Drew Brees backup in 2019, the Saints ultimately let him walk in free agency. Then the Panthers saw a year of him as a starter and chose to replace him with Sam Darnold. Neither move is a resounding endorsement of his potential. Bridgewater will have a great cast of weapons to work with in Denver but he played alongside a talented receiving unit in Carolina last year and did little with the opportunity. He threw 15 touchdowns to 11 interceptions and won just four games across 15 starts. As part of the trade, Carolina agreed to take on $7 million of Bridgewater's $10 million in guarantees for 2021. Bridgewater's contract was also restructured to make him a free agent at the end of 2021. That makes the deal low-risk for the Broncos but it remains minimal in upside. Adam Schefter added that this move doesn't take Denver out of the QB conversation with the No. 9 pick in the draft. Acquiring two quarterbacks in as many days would be surprising but the lack of investment in Bridgewater leaves a first-round passer on the table for the Broncos.
Good call LF. You are our top reporter and more credibility than any DWF corporate sports media shill.

If this happens get ready for some media backlash. Tebow would be a strong positive presence for Lawrence as well as a draw for the Jaguars to put butts in seats.

Also I saw a rumor that the Broncos are open to trading Drew Lock with St. Teddy now in Denver and that they may double dip with getting another black quarterback tonight.

Minishew will hopefully get traded this weekend as well.

The NFL Network crew is already laughing and joking about Tebow returning. They also made a joke about his baseball career.

Always have been a Tebow fan! We all know he's a physical specimen and takes care of himself. I don't doubt he could play another 5 years in The NFL at another position.

Green Bay is led by a cuck GM that has screwed up the team... I live in Wisconsin, have been a fan my whole life but boy... Packers sure know how to piss off their HOF quarterbacks don’t they?

It's conceivable he could make this transition as he doesn't have much wear and tear on his body and would be a fresh 33??? He could also be a serviceable emergency qb if Lawrence and whomever the backup is went down.

Oh man, Rodgers putting the Packers feet to the fire here. Could be interesting and wouldn't mind seeing him force his way out of Green Bay at this point.
Off seasons have never been this crazy without some players going postal.

Wilson passively aggressively asked for a trade, Watson allegely has a massage/sexual assault fetish, now Rodgers possibly retiring if he isn't traded. I forgot about the aggressive trade of Goff for Stafford and we still have Jimmy G on the trading block.

there is a reason we call him gutencuck in these parts! Both he and lafleur alienated Rodgers but selecting the black quarterback last year. By all reports Love was no where prepared or ready to play last season. It will be interesting to see what happens with Rodgers. I certainly hope he does not retire.

It would be awesome if Jordy Nelson came back to play with Rodgers at the Raiders or Frisco or wherever he goes. Like Gronk did with Brady.

With the Colts missing out on Radunz and Cosmi they need to sign Eric Fisher for LT. Medical should check out, considering how far medicine has advanced.

Really hope Andy Isabella gets released at this point, then he can choose his next team, hopefully somewhere that gives him a chance. He’s clearly screwed- barely seen the field.

Cole Van Lanen is still out there. Spencer Brown as well and Tommy Doyle .

I only posted this because it mentioned the retirement gambit for Rogers. BTW lifelong Pack fan first season I remember well being the 72 playoff run, any way I support Rogers GB is done the window is closed and the honchos there are running out their contracts, running the old Cuck and Cashout scam on the fans. Last year's first rounder was inactive for about every game, his highlight reel consisted of skipping a ball off the ground while in the background Rogers and Boyle were laughing their butts off.

Edit: Maybe I spoke too soon I should have read the Milwaukee Journal first to find out the Pack "braintrust" took a center and a WR yesterday, so maybe Rogers' threats woke them up and the thought of contract extensions for themselves danced in their heads. Because before I played Love I would finish up my resume for sending out.

Good to see a young white gentile person can break into sports media in Meg, too bad our subject matter experts here did not have a rocking chick bod, gorgeous face framed by flowing blonde hair.

Would be awesome to see Tebow back, i would have hoped for him at runningback but tight end is better than nothing. He can definitely do it, obviously still has top athletic ability.

Agreed I thought he would be a great multi-tool on the field except for D.
