It's Thursday already, time for a new NFL thread. Tonight's game between Cleveland and Cincinnati is largely a blackfest, but there are some things for CFers to watch. With Cleveland, there is the ongoing QB thing with Hoyer and Manziel. I would prefer to see Manziel tearing up the field for Cleveland, and am sure that he would. But I don't want to root against Hoyer, a quality white QB, either. It's much easier to root against a starting black QB who is starting over a more qualified white, like how Manuel was starting over Orton, etc.

With Cincinnati, Andy Dalton is much hated by the media (and many DWFs) so I usually like to see him do well. And there is always the possibility that all of the black RBs will sprain their ankles on the way out of the locker room, forcing the Bengals to use WSTD and team mascot Rex Burkhead. We can dream, huh?

Footballdad - totally agree with you on the whole Hoyer/Manziel dilemna. Hoyer hasn't played as well as he did last year before he was injured however he is leading the Browns to wins. On the other hand it would be great to see Manziel out there but I think that sitting him is a smart thing at this point. Hopefully Hoyer can elevate his game the rest of the season.

I also hope Burkhead gets some touches and is able to make the most of them just like we saw Hillis do on Monday night.

I'd like to see Manziel start as well, but perhaps sitting ala Rodgers would be good for him.

The biggest reason why I'd like him to start is the lack of white rookies/young stars right now. We had a great wave a while back with Nelson, Matthews, Cushing, then Luck, Watt, H. Smith, etc. But it seems to be drying up now. Case in point, through 9 weeks only 3/45 nominees for rookie of the week have been white. Not enough of our guys get the chance to start their rookie year. I'm sure 4 years down the road after many of these nominees are out of the league our guys will be putting up pro bowl numbers, but it does seem kinda dry out there right? The term "racial apprenticeship" has been used here a lot, but it seems especially true the last few years.

Margus Hunt will be playing through his apprenticeship tonight, year 2 already and no end in sight. I would say Burkhead is serving his as well but I don't think there was ever the remotest plan he would contribute on offense. If he ever has any meaningful playing time in the NFL it will be by sheer, blind luck.

Anybody not think it is odd that NFL network tonight has an all white line up tonight Mariucci, Warner with Eisien. Ian Rappaport as the pitch reporter and Mike Mayock joining them now. Just odd to see an all white team on NFL Network, guess it makes up for two caste teams on the field with not alot on either team aside from the quarterbacks offensively with cameron out injured.

Gresham just ran a lazy route resulting in Dalton getting picked off by a Cleveland LB. I bet he misses Eifert.

Gresham has been average I remember when he entered the league he was hyped up as an exciting new weapon at the TE position. Haha ya right...

Rex Burkhead had 2 carries for 12 yards in the 1st half & 1 rec for 8 yards...it SHOULD be only a matter of time before he surpasses Cedric Peerman on the depth chart who had 2 carries for minus - 2 yards.

Stud OT-Andrew Whitworth is one of the most under rated O-Lineman in the NFL...

Was looking forward seeing TE-Jordan Cameron tonight but he's out with a concussion...

I'm with y'all on Manziel!

And Burkhead hasn't touched the ball since! Lurkers and doubters take note.

Green Bay wide receiver Kevin Dorsey was their 5th receiver ahead of Jeff Janis the last few weeks but Dorsey has been put on IR. Unlikely that Janis sees many snaps this week as Green Bay has been running mostly three receiver sets but this is a positive development.

It seems unlikely that Green Bay re-signs Randall Cobb which will provide an excellent opportunity for Jared Abbrederis to make the final roster. Hopefully he recovers from the torn ACL he suffered in training camp. If he does, it's in the realm of possibility that Green Bay keeps three white wide receivers in 2015.

Chris Borland gets another start in place of Patrick Willis today. Borland had 15 solo tackles last week, the most in the league this year in a single game.

Also, Chase Thomas has been activated from the practice squad and may start in place of the injured Dan Skuta. At the least he should see the field a lot today.

And now back to typical NFL black boy antics. These guys get paid millions of dollars but can't adhere to the most basic individual and team discipline thanks to the league's extremist affirmative action policies: Ian Rapoport reports that a third of the Cowboys roster reported late for curfew on Friday night. Both veterans and coaches are reported to be frustrated at the lack of discipline the team has showed in the wake of two consecutive losses. In addition, the Cowboys organization has been increasingly concerned with WR Dez Bryant over a series of off-the-field incidents.

Hogan with the touch down early on for the Bills! His emergence as a primary weapon in the offense is a nice surprise this season :)

Chris Borland gets another start in place of Patrick Willis today.

According to Jay Glazier, word is that Willis could miss "significant time" going forward. Great news for the budding rookie superstar, Borland, who could become another Luke Kuechly-like tackling-machine.

Denard Robinson just committed a costly fumble against Dallas. He started ahead of Gerhart and was having a good day (9 carries, 45 yards, TD) up to that point. We'll see if Toby gets some carries after half.

Daniel Thomas fumbles the ball. How is he getting carries in the league? He has been a huge bust as a 2nd round pick by Miami a few years back.

In fairness, the Dolphins cut his worthless ass earlier this season but brought him back due to the injury to Knowshon Moreno

Ive seen Toby get three carries thus far. Two of them were on 3rd and 1. The other was on 4th and inches. All three were against 9 men in the box. He was getting mauled as soon as he got the hand off. Thats not gonna help the ol YPC stats.

Yea, he has been the biggest caste system victim this year. It's a shame because he could of been the reliable running back a young QB needs.

Boy, what a boring collection of early games. Gerhart barely playing, despite the Jags getting blown out and Robinson's costly fumble. Witten caught a short TD, but he and Beasley are barely targeted today, much like the entire season. Hartline doing nothing against the Lions. Decker doing nothing against the Steelers. Kelce and Fasano doing nothing against the Bills. There are some positives...Bills WR, Chris Hogan, has 5 catches (on 5 targets) for 64 yards and TD. 49ers LB, Chris Borland, continues to shine: 16 tackles!

That Steelers game was horrible. The Refs also blew a huge call on a fumble a the end of the first half that would of swayed the momentum in the Steelers favor. The Jets got a few favorable calls. The Steelers looked sloppy on offense, Antonio Brown was the goat of the game with two lost fumbles but no one will critique him on that. The rest of the unpronounceable steeler WRs were bums - did not run clean routs, penalties, slipping and falling all over the field. A pretty pathetic display.

Yeah I was going to put exactly this not much to write home about today so far apart from Hogan and Borland. We all knew at CF forum, Chris Borland would be a beast and he is showing it so far what a performance in the two games so far 32 tackles through two games!

Anyone who knows about NFL (the commentators should know as its their job!!) knows that setting up in an obvious run situation where they put all the men in the box like they did when trying to run Gerhart is going to fail. Yet rather than rubbish the play call they rubbish Gerhart, these commentators are idiots been rubbish throughout the game, absolutely awful.
