Senators ask NBA to pull All-Star game from North Carolina

By KELLY COHEN

A bipartisan group of senators has asked NBA Commissioner Adam Silver to pull the league's 2017 All-Star game from North Carolina because of a law in that state that many say discriminates against gay and transgender people.

The letter asks Silver to "take a stand against this latest form discrimination and move the 2017 NBA All Star Game away from Charlotte, N.C.," following the passage of a new state law last month that prevents local governments from, for example, allowing transgender people to use the bathroom of their choice.

Sens. Jeff Merkley, D-Ore.; Pat Leahy, D-Vt.; Cory Booker, D-N.J.; Tammy Baldwin, D-Wis.; Patty Murray, D-Wash.; and Mark Kirk, R-Ill., signed the letter sent Tuesday. Kirk is the only Republican signed onto the letter and is running for re-election this year.

"We hold no ill-will towards the people of Charlotte, who passed an antidiscrimination measure that HB2 overturned, or towards the people of North Carolina," the senators wrote in the letter. "However, we cannot condone nor stand idly by as North Carolina moves to legalize and institutionalize discrimination against the LGBT community. Nor should the NBA allow its premier annual event to be hosted in such a state."

The law, known as HB2, "provides businesses, government contractors, hotels, and other institutions with a license to discriminate, and no city council or county government can do a thing about it," the senators wrote. "This is just wrong."

Since the state's Republican Gov. Pat McCrory signed the law, there has been widespread national backlash. PayPal and Deutsche Bankhave cancelled expansion plans in North Carolina.

McCrory said Tuesday that he wanted the law partially changed in response to the backlash, but that the bathroom provisions were to stay. But that change only reinstate the right of people to sue in the state for discrimination.

"After listening to people's feedback for the past several weeks on this issue, I have come to the conclusion that there is a great deal of misinformation, misinterpretation, confusion, a lot of passion and frankly, selective outrage and hypocrisy, especially against the great state of North Carolina," McCrory said. "But based upon this feedback, I am taking action to affirm and improve the state's commitment to privacy and equality."

In May 2013, former NBA player Jason Collins publicly came out as gay. When he signed with the Brooklyn Nets in February 2014 as a free agent, he became the first publicly gay athlete to play in any of the four major professional sports leagues in North America.

Yawn. Boring no one that's sane cares. Pathetic senators(Social Justice Warrior's) should have more pressing matters to concern themselves with rather than waste time and effort on a cause as pointless as this.

Ah yes the federal government infringing on states rights and private businesses telling them how they should conduct their business. Not surprised the NBA head tribesman is putting this on the top of his perverse agenda.

I'm not too sure who's pulling the strings at Deutsche Bank (I know its run by Jews, like all major banks), but I know that PayPal's vile Jewish CEO, Dan Schulman, has a long history of Cultural Marxism and "social activism"...

What I would give for one, just one Governor, after signing one of these laws to just tell those PC morons: "go to hell, take your business we don't want it and we'll be just fine". I mean what the hell does a elected Governor care? He's going to eventually lose or be term limited and retire with his super nice govt. pension. So make a stand you ball-less sacks of wussy!!! Well over 50% of people agree with them, why cave to the minority???

Does it get any more "Current Year" American than this. (((Adam Silver))) telling a state to change its tranny toilet laws or he'll take his band of travelling thugs to another state.

A

NEW YORK (AP) -- Commissioner Adam Silver believes the NBA has been "crystal clear" that the 2017 All-Star Game only stays in Charlotte if a North Carolina law goes.

Political and business leaders he's spoken with in the state believe it will, so he's holding off for now on setting any deadlines for when the NBA might act.

Silver said last week that the law that limits anti-discrimination protections for lesbian, gay and transgender people was "problematic" for the league, but he believed dialogue was more useful than ultimatums at this point, so has continued discussions with North Carolina officials.

"The sense was that if the NBA could give us some time, they in the community of North Carolina were optimistic they would see a change in the law. They weren't guaranteeing it and I think which was why my response was the event still is 10 months from now, we don't need to make a decision yet," Silver said Thursday during a meeting of Associated Press Sports Editors.

"We've been, I think, crystal clear that we believe a change in the law is necessary for us to play in the kind of environment that we think is appropriate for a celebratory NBA event, but that we did have some time and that if the view of the people who were allied with us in terms of a change, if their view, the people on the ground in North Carolina, was that the situation would best be served by us not setting a deadline, we would not set a deadline at this time."

The North Carolina law directs transgender people to use public toilets corresponding to the sex listed on their birth certificate. The law also excludes LGBT people from state anti-discrimination protections, blocks local governments from expanding LGBT protections, and bars all types of workplace discrimination lawsuits from state courts.

Several entertainment acts have already canceled plans for North Carolina but Silver said last week he didn't think a warning that the NBA could pull the All-Star weekend out would send the proper message, particularly because the league still has the Charlotte Hornets, owned by Michael Jordan, playing there. The Hornets host playoff games this weekend.

All-Star weekend is scheduled for February. Silver said there is no urgency to make a decision because the league could very easily find out which arenas would take on the event if necessary.

Silver does seem ready for action, though, when it comes to Hack-a-Shaq.

Concerned with games dragging on longer than 2 1/2 hours because of parades to the line, Silver said he hopes there will be a change to the rules about intentional fouls away from the ball.

"I think it's not unanimous but there's clearly an emerging consensus both among the members of the competition committee and the owners we made a presentation to at last week's meetings that we need to address the situation," Silver said.

Silver said last year he was "on the fence" about the tactic, but another year of data has changed his opinion. Silver said when Hack-a-Shaq happens three or more times, it adds approximately 11 minutes to the length of a game. Detroit's Andre Drummond, one of the league's worst free throw shooters, was sent to the line for 16 free throws Wednesday by Cleveland - making just four - and the game took so long to finish that the second game of TNT's playoff doubleheader had to begin on NBA TV.

"Putting aside whether that's good television or not - I don't necessarily think it is - that from our national broadcasters' standpoint it's become a real business issue when many of our games are dramatically exceeding the 2 1/2-hour window they have set aside in their broadcast schedule," Silver said.

Senior vice president of operations Kiki VanDeWeghe said there has been "explosion" in what he calls "off-ball deliberate fouls" and noted that when it became popular against Shaquille O'Neal, it came once O'Neal caught the ball, rather than now when the player fouled is often nowhere near the play.

Silver said the use of the strategy increased by 2 1/2 times over last season. One possibility would be extending the rule used in the final 2 minutes, when an intentional foul away from the ball leads to one free throw for any player on the team and the retention of possession, throughout the game.

Silver hopes something could be presented to the owners for a vote during their July meeting. A rules change requires approval by two-thirds of them.

Why does any city care about a one time event? These silly sports spectacles are so fleeting and have such a microscopic effect on the local economy why would it make a difference to a policy that is supposed to have a significant long term effect?

In Detroit they pushed and pushed for a Super Bowl with the idea that it would do so much for the city. Guess what? The city is still a sh*thole. There was no lasting effect from the Super Bowl at all. How could there be? What does a single game accomplish?

I wish the states in all these *** causes being shoved down their throats would tell the Marxist cult leaders to take their fed money, league money, and disposable douche kit money and go shove it. Tell them you'll be better off without them. Tell **** like Springsteen and whatever other *** musicians "protesting" to enter our state at your own risk, ******!! Then ask them how they like freedom of speech now? Godless wussies...

Hosting the game amounts to some hotel business, prostitution, and pile of empty beer cans. The "benefit" is imaginary but made real by so many blokes and brooms chatting it up.

The collusion and collaboration between the State and corporate sports is something that is discussed and documented here at castefootball.us. In the below article, The NBA commission is attempting to pressure the North Carolina legislature by saying the 2017 All Star game will not be held in NC if the State does not change its laws to remove washroom gender designation in all public buildings.

On North America (excluding Mexico), regardless of what is being spoken and written publicly:
Washroom designation is beyond the powers of the State; but most people and most lawyers don't know that.
Only man and woman determine if the customs and common practices and principles by which we conduct ourselves may be changed.
If a man or a woman deems it is a harm to them to be visited with the opposite gender in a washroom or change room, then it is a harm; if it is a harm, it is a wrong.
If men accept women and women accept men in their washrooms and change rooms, then our customs and common practices and principles will change.
The choice is for man and woman to determine; man and woman are the only jury.
I have made my choice and I will not allow women in a washroom or change room that I am using.
May most others make wise decisions.

I've been rethinking this 'trannie in the restroom' thing. About 99.9% of my public restroom use is of the urinal. Do I want a guy in a dress taking a piss next to me? No I do not. I don't even want another guy next to me if it can be avoided. So let the freaks go into the womens rest room. They can fight the lines and crowded stalls in there. Women by a large margin are driving this insanity because they are dumb asses so let them "enjoy" the benefits of perverted diversity.

And I'm not worried about dykes in the men's room because they aren't going to be using the urinals and since most mens toilets are piss covered messes because so many guys are slobs they are probably going to use the women's rest rooms with all their nice clean ass-wiped toilet seats. HA! when the trannies start pissing all over the toilet seats in the women's rest rooms you will see some attitudes change.

So once again the Donald is right!

A Cultural Marxist explanation of why the push to eliminate natural genders:

Link: http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2016/04/23/bathroom-wars-humiliate-normal-majority/

Welcome to life in totalitarian America, where even going to the bathroom and identifying the sex of an adult have now become intensely political acts.

Totalitarianism is about the politicization of everything, and once people’s careers can be destroyed by the New Bathroom Order if they publicly object to the once-bizarre idea of men in the ladies’ room–we’re there. Ask the now-unemployed Curt Schilling.

Totalitarianism is about using force to gain political goals. You can’t get more coercive than forcing the vast majority of people to endorse the utterly bizarre just to accommodate the allegedly hurt feelings of an almost undetectably small percentage of the population. So for the sake of each transgendered person’s hurt feelings, two thousand ordinary folk must be forced to ignore what their eyes and hearts tell them … and be publicly slandered as quasi-racist bigots if they murmur any objection.

Moreover, Americans have already solved the problem: They just politely ignore the fact that public bathrooms are quietly used by transsexuals–both those who look like the other sex and those who really don’t look like the other sex. That decent-minded, live-and-let-live compromise means Americans don’t have to pretend that men are women, and they can call the police if they feel threatened, for example, when a transsexual wants to use a changing room in a school.

But the progressives’ hostility to Americans’ civic compromises was always an element of the gay marriage crusade, as well. It was clear that the amount of coercive force unleashed upon society to make gay marriage work was far, far greater than the coercion necessary to allow civil unions to quietly operate alongside normal marriage. Sure enough, in the blink of an eye, we went from soft-focus “Love Wins” to the nation’s judges’ gaveling out legal threats: “Bake that cake, or lose your entire business.”

As my old colleague Erick Erickson put it, “You Will Be Made to Care” amid an ever-increasing level of coercion, strife, and bitterness. You will now be made to care about men who claim they “identify” as women, while pushing their way past you and into public restrooms that were once the preserve of wives, mothers, girlfriends, and daughters.

It’s going to take a great deal of money, manpower, and regulation to get the New Bathroom Order up and running.

Remodeling public restroom facilities to create more individual, lockable, unisex rooms is one way to reduce the new humiliation, but it would be very expensive.

We’ll probably need some kind of Ministry of the Crapper, where bureaucrats and judges can separate perverts and goofballs and award official-transgender permits to “authentic” transgendered and gender-confused individuals. A great deal of taxpayer money will be spent, and many new rules will be written by many well-paid functionaries. So what’s not to like, for those of a totalitarian bent?

Better still–for the totalitarians–the level of animosity in society will keep growing, as well. A populace stressed out by paranoia and angry accusations of bigotry will be less likely to cooperate, compete, and live in harmony. Instead of local civic cooperation, they’ll resort to government and police when they have to deal with the next dispute that once could be resolved quietly by a healthy civic society. The politicization of everything naturally leads to the enforcement of everything. Debates become bitter because the stakes are higher, and we cannot simply agree to disagree.

Dr. Theodore Dalrymple made this point in a 2005 interview when he described political correctness as “communism writ small.”

“In my study of communist societies, I came to the conclusion that the purpose of communist propaganda was not to persuade or convince, nor to inform, but to humiliate; and therefore, the less it corresponded to reality the better,” Dalrymple said, adding:

When people are forced to remain silent when they are being told the most obvious lies, or even worse when they are forced to repeat the lies themselves, they lose once and for all their sense of probity. To assent to obvious lies is to co-operate with evil, and in some small way to become evil oneself. One’s standing to resist anything is thus eroded, and even destroyed. A society of emasculated liars is easy to control.

Eleven years ahead of the game, Dalrymple provided the perfect description of the ridiculous Bathroom Wars, in which the majority is commanded to open wide and swallow the utterly ludicrous idea of letting men-women barge into women’s restrooms, on the vanishingly small chance that a transgendered individual might not be able to find a suitable private stall. It’s so insane that it caught normal people by surprise; they thought it was a joke, until Bruce Springsteen canceled that concert they bought tickets to.

The real game here is to break the will of those ordinary people so they won’t resist even more social engineering.

I dropped my Pay Pal business account previously over another cultural Marxist issue, and made sure they knew why. They recently were caught, fined, and are in the process of restitution over ripping off customers. Spread the word and use the only leverage we have -- $$$.

This thread is probably relevant enough to post this article.

Retired Women’s Basketball Star Says Supposedly Tolerant WNBA Oppresses Heterosexual Players

“It was a depressing state in the WNBA. It’s not watched. Our value is diminished. It can be quite hard. I didn’t like the culture inside the WNBA, and without revealing too much, it was toxic for me. … My spirit was being broken,” Wiggins said.

But she also noted that the major problems between players also added to her anguish.

“Me being heterosexual and straight, and being vocal in my identity as a straight woman was huge. I would say 98 percent of the women in the WNBA are gay women. It was a conformist type of place,” Wiggins charged. “There was a whole different set of rules they (the other players) could apply. There was a lot of jealousy and competition, and we’re all fighting for crumbs. The way I looked, the way I played – those things contributed to the tension.”

“People were deliberately trying to hurt me all of the time. I had never been called the B-word so many times in my life than I was in my rookie season. I’d never been thrown to the ground so much,” she added.

The retired player insisted that the message given by gay players was: “We want you to know we don’t like you.”

“It comes to a point where you get compared so much to the men, you come to mirror the men,” Wiggins concluded. “So many people think you have to look like a man, play like a man to get respect. I was the opposite. I was proud to a be a woman, and it didn’t fit well in that culture.”

That is really a bombshell story. It has everything the media usually wants, sports, drama, sex-and lesbianism no less. But so far it looks like they won't touch it. On my local sports talk radio they mentioned it and dismissed it as non-story. It really is a confirmation of every point we have made about the LNBA, thus the discussion will be verboten in the MSM.

Nobody with two brain cells to rub together is surprised by a story such as this. A victimhood-claiming group like homosexuals will, without fail, viciously oppress heterosexuals whenever they are the majority. The same sort of inherent bigotry occurs whenever whites are a minority in any situation. "Minority" groups aren't interested in "equality" with whites or heterosexuals...they want to be the superior group.

Interesting that Candice Wiggins mentioned how all the butch lesbians in the WNBA were jealous of the "the way she looked," essentially admitting that the dykes had inferiority complexes about being unfeminine in the presence of a normal, straight woman. It's pretty standard for the mentally ill to react with violence and hatred in that situation. Wiggins is brave for speaking about her experiences and it would equivalent to a white NFL player talking about the racism he endured from black teammates and opponents.
