Trout torn meniscus. Needs surgery. Out 4-6 weeks. Gut punch (especially for Carolina Speed.). That sucks.
It's a gut punch to the legacy of white athletes everywhere! As Mike Trout is arguably the greatest baseball talent we've ever seen. All you have to do is look up his first 6 year stats. The man was ahead of Babe Ruth and Ty Cobb!!! The 2 two greatest players of all time. However, in this modern age, most people will still believe the Bonds and Mays or Aaron were the best ever and you could throw Mantle in there as well, but he suffered injuries and was an alcoholic that hurt his career. Ted Williams is up there as well, but missed 3 years of his prime to serve his country in the military.Trout torn meniscus. Needs surgery. Out 4-6 weeks. Gut punch (especially for Carolina Speed.). That sucks.
He and Bobby Witt Jr have started off strong and are 1-2 in WAR in the AL.Baltimore 22 year old SS Gunnar Henderson has hit his 10th HR tying Mike Trout in a 3-24 slump, for the league lead.
Henderson also leading the league in Total Bases with 72.
There must be something seriously wrong with either trout’s personal training or the angels s&c program. He should not be getting injured this much without there being a fundamental problem in his training. This, unfortunately, is starting to remind me of jj watt- another powerfully built man who maybe focused training strength too much at the expense of also building up strong tendons and smaller muscle groups and musculature imbalancesThe guy just cannot stay healthy. While he is still a HOF player, it is safe to say his career will be far short of the accomplishments his first 6 years was on.
The best ability is availability and Trout is sorely lacking in that regard. A damn shame.
With top stars Mike Trout out for 6-8 weeks and now Trea Turner, there are a few guys playing very well early.Damn, Trea Turner out 6 weeks with a hamstring injury. He was having a great season hitting .343.
Big time. Only one homer given up in 30+ innings of action in the minors.Paul Skenes, the first overall draft pick last year, has been called up by the Pirates and is scheduled to make his first start on Saturday against the Cubs. Skenes is a 6'6" righthander out of LSU. From what I've been reading and hearing, Skenes is the most heralded college pitching prospect since Stephen Strasburg. Best of success to him in the Majors.

Skenes just has the star potential the MLB arguably needs.Skenes fans 7, tops 100 mph 17 times in debut
Paul Skenes, the top-ranked pitching prospect in baseball, had a promising major league debut for the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday, working into the fifth inning against the Chicago Cubs while throwing 17 pitches of 100 mph or more in a 10-9 victory.www.espn.com

Some would say analytics have hurt every sport, but none more than baseball in my opinion. The game has been reduced to power hitting, strikeouts and walks (three true outcomes), a far cry from the more nuanced and tactical game many of us grew up playing and watching. Now we're getting NBA-style load management and guys are still getting injured more often than ever before. MLB needs a serious overhaul, or it will continue to fade into obscurity.https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/40145890/mlb-load-management-next-big-thing-rock-baseball
These over the top analytics have reached ridiculous levels.
notice the organizations that depend on analytics the most are the ones that never win the world series, if your not winning the ring then it is failing miserablySome would say analytics have hurt every sport, but none more than baseball in my opinion. Does 100 pitches per start actually represent the limit of the human body? Or is it a nice, round number we selected arbitrarily? Whatever they're doing to prevent injuries doesn't appear to be working. Giving him another few innings isn't going to end his career.Skenes threw 6 no hit innings with 11 Ks against the Cubs this afternoon. He actually started the game by striking out the first 7 hitters. The downside of the strikeout totals is always the higher pitch count, which lead to him getting the hook at 100 pitches exactly.
Which leads to the obvious discussion of strict pitch counts. On one hand, you expect the prized phenom to have his innings limited in his rookie year. On the other hand, even when I was growing up in the 90s it was unheard of to pull your starter who has a no-no intact. Especially not at 100 pitches. Another reason why baseball is struggling. Fans are denied an opportunity to see history because of the extreme micromanaging.
