The Mets Pete Alonzo currently leading the league HR's and RBI's
Phillies Harper leading in SLG. and Total bases. Looks like a two horse race for MVP.
Verlander, Anderson, Gonsolin, and McClanahan with 7 wins each.
McClanahan leading the league in K's with 98

Nice! Have to make an effort to watch some baseball.

If you like pro baseball try watching college. Lot more entertaining and the demographics much closer to this site’s readership

The Man. The Myth. The Legend Mike Trout is back and off to a hot start tonight. The Angels are winning 5-0 over the Mets in the 6th innning.

Mike Trout is 2 for 3 with a monster 425 foot home run to Left Center Field. I guess his groin is doing alot better. Very happy to see this! :)

Trout has another home run this time to deep center field. He has 3 runs batted in tonight and the game is still going. He now has 14 homers, 30 r.b.i.' s and his average is back up to 285. Glad he is back
healthy and has broken his slump. The Angels are crushing the Mets 11-2 in the 8th innning!

WL, I fell asleep after the first two innings. Thanks for the update, however Trout actually has 16 HR's and 33 RBI's and after going 3-4 last night and is hitting .294.
Two players we haven't talked about much this season, Dansby Swanson and Austin Riley of the Atlanta Braves. Swanson SS for Atlanta is 10 for his last 23 and batting .290 and Riley hit his 16th HR yesterday. Hate that the Braves lost MVP Freddie Freeman to LA.
Freeman's power numbers aren't quite there with the Dodgers yet, but he's batting a respectable .292

For those interested, The Angels will be playing the Mets at 7:00 on ESPN. I hope Trout has a good game in prime time. The Mets feature stud Pete Alonso as well.

Peter Alonso is a very good player too. I will have to tune if for this one.

I hope Trout makes some big catches tonight too. I get just as pumped up seeing him roaming the outfield like a gazelle. Even at 30 years of age he hasn't lost much of speed. Incredible athlete on top of being an amazing baseball player!
Please let's see him stay mostly healthy for the next decade if he plays that long. I want to see him continue to climb the WAR Ratings and Cement himself as the Greatest Baseball Player of All Time. I also want to see that Angels win
and get to the playoffs and World Series! :)

Hey WL. Unfortunately, Trout will only be DH tonight. No time in CF.
They did show an interesting stat on Trout. He is the fastest to 325 HR's and 200 stolen bases in MLB history. Amazing stat despite missing so many games!

Paul Goldschmidt continues his season long tear with 3 HR's and 8 RBI in yesterday's double header. Goldschmidt hit his 14th HR in the first game and had 3 RBI, the went 4-4 with HR numbers 15 and 16 and 5 RBI. He becomes the first player for the Cardinals to have 8 RBI in one day since Fernando Tatis did it in 1999. Goldschmidt leads the league in hits, 81: BA:349, OBP: .431, SLG: .642, OPS: 1.073, OPS+: 207 and Total Bases 149. All this plus the Cardinals are in first place in NL Central, places Goldschmidt in the early lead for the NL MVP. Hopefully, he continues to play this way all season and gets his first MVP as he was robbed in 2013 for the award losing to Andrew McCutchen.

I've said it before and I will say it again. The Arizona Diamondbacks were crazy to let Paul Goldschmidt leave. He has always been great and he was a fan favorite when he play for the Dbacks. Just look at how bad they have struggled over the last 3 or 4 years
too. I think it was a financial move but even the organization has to regret letting him go.

Then Angels are playing a little better as of lately. One reason like always is the greatest player of all time leading the way. Mike Trout with 2 more monster home runs tonight and 4 more runs batted in! He is such a talent that it's hard to find
the right words to appreciate his greatness. Just try to enjoy him gentlemen. I doubt in any of our life times we will ever see a player this good at everything. The Angels got some really good pitching tonight too as they are shutting out the
Seattle Marners in the 8th inning.

Thanks WL for the news, and BFU for the video. Being on the east coast and watching an Angels game that starts at 10:10 makes it difficult for an old man to watch the entire game. I saw his first AB and I believe he walked.
With that impressive night at the plate, Trout has now passed Pete Rose for 64th on the career WAR list. Rose played for 24 years and Trout is just in his 1oth full season. Trout is rising towards the top 50, which without the injuries and a Covid shortened season he would've already made it. Still, if he gets into the top 50 all time at 30 years old would be an amazing accomplishment!

I periodically take a look at MLB Statcast during the season. There are some great measurables (Barrel %, Spin Rate, Exit Velo, Sprint Speed etc..). For your viewing pleasure I included Sprint Speed YTD DWF's and the MSM might be surprised at who is represented in the Top 10 (6), including the Top 2, and Top 20 (10). Share and discuss widely..

Thanks for posting the video. It looks like he is really enjoying the game again as it's all coming together for him. Have to say I love his hair cut. The guy just has that cool factor that both the young ones and older guys all look up to! What
a leader he is. The guy looks like a football player. I could see him as a running back or a linebacker. Like I've said before though. We are so thankful he chose Baseball. Long Live the King Mike Trout! :)

You're welcome WL!

I don't think the Angels will get far, as far as post-season (again) but he's an extreme talent. He needs more team weapons around him. We shall see.

Mike Trout is a joy to watch play. Pure and simply, one of the best players I’ve ever witnessed play the game.

Baseball has all kinds of new measurables and stats that have debuted since I stopped following the sport closely about ten or fifteen years ago, including Sprint Speed, but that's a pretty cool looking result that should leave most DWFs slack-jawed.

The Angels are up 1-0 over the Mariners in the 5th inning. Mike Trout had a deep home run to centerfield. I never get tired of typing that. He is as they say in spanish....Enfuego(On Fire)!

Yep. Trout with two HR's yesterday; one in each game of the doubleheader. Bringing his total to 20 on the season. Good for second in the AL. He's leading the AL in OPS.

Trout on a HR tear! Has hit number 21! Five of his last 6 hits have been home runs!

The Mets Pete Alonso with 2 home runs today and 2 RBI extending his league lead in both categories to 22/68.
Mike Trout with another big evening last night with his 22 HR and a triple. He leads the league in slugging and is now in his rightful place with the league lead in WAR.
Trout passed Jeff Bagwell for 63rd on the all time WAR list at 80.3. Next up is Tom Glavine and then Rod Carew.
Bobby Witt continues to improve with his 11th home run today going 2-5. Without the pre-season strike I believe Witt would be farther along, however the Royals have been patient with him and it's paying off. Look for Witt to continue to improve this season and next year bigger things will come!

Bad news, again! The reigning NL MVP Bryce Harper was hit on the thumb by a 97 MPH fastball from Blake Snell over the weekend. The ball almost hit him on the head. The thumb is broke. There's no timetable for his return.
Harper was having another great year. He was slashing .318/.385/.599 with 15 homeruns and 48 RBI and 49 runs scored.
