Right PHillisFan! It seems Trout may be coming out of a month long slump. He was 2/3 with a Grand Slam and Solo shot and 5 RBI's last night. He has hit 5 HR's in the last 10-11 days. His 37th and 38th HR's set new career highs for him.

Despite the slump Trout remains in the top 5 statistically in most major AL categories, including leading the AL in OPS.

If he can remain hot, he may just eek out a second MVP!

I am happy for Trout. He and Harper are both in the 40's. With 12 games left I hope either one of them or Crush Davis win the HR title. Afleet Cruz is creeping around.

I hope you are right ,but Cruz has an advantage with all the Hispanic relievers in baseball. Don't think they wouldn't grove one to him so he could win it. I remember Al Downing groving one to Hank Aaron for 715.

I saw it and it was sick. Trout made a catch a few years ago that was nearly as good but this one was better.

Actually, Trout won the MVP award in 2014. Also, last night he accomplished something NO ONE has ever done! He has scored at least 100 runs and hit 25 home runs in his five seasons through his age 24 season!

His second HR in his second game in September. He has now past consensus front runner Altuve in OBP., SLG., OPS., OPS+, HR's, and Runs Scored, and he's been the MLB leader in WAR, I believe all year long, and is only one RBI behind him! If the voting were held tomorrow, I believe he would win. Let's hope Trout stays red hot!

Sorry. I made a little mistake in speaking of MVP front runners. I should have included Josh Donaldson of Toronto. He's probably been the front runner with Altuve and Trout in second and third. However, if Trout stays hot he could catch Donaldson too! That chemotherapy I went through with cancer messes with your brain a little. I'll probably be more prone to mistakes for a while.

I'm glad to see Mike Trout stealing lots of bases again after inexplicably being told to turn it down the past couple of seasons. For White players, stealing bases is more important than hitting home runs, from a Caste perspective. It is acceptable for a White player to be a power hitter. It is not acceptable under the Caste system for a White player to be known as a speedster. I hope Trout can finish with 30+ stolen bases this season and cast(e) aside these racist stereotypes.

Mike Trout is now at 10.o7 WAR! He's the first player to have a 10.0 WAR since......Mike Trout in 2012. In this millennium, Trout (twice), Barry Bonds (three times), Sammy Sosa, and Alex Rodriquez are the only players to put up a 10.0 WAR season. The difference between Trout and the other three mentioned, Trout has done it without the use of steroids, livelier ball or whatever!
Trout's 2016 season is just the 56th 10 WAR season since 1901.

Although Trout leads the league in WAR, OB%, Walks, and OPS+ he might not win the MVP because he plays on a lousy team according to most. Let's hope the writers do the right thing and vote Trout the MVP!

I agree. He's probably my favorite athlete too. Although he tends to finish slow, he hasn't really had a huge hitting slump this season. I think he went o-10 one time this season. A lot of his stats are up this year including runs(115), RBI (95), BA: .316, SB 26, OBP .436, and OBP .992. He also has a chance to reach some milestones in his age 24 season. He has reached 900 hits (909), he has 592 runs, and 492 RBI. I'd like to see him get to 600 runs and 500 RBI before the season ends, but he'll have to finish strong!

Whether he wins the MVP or not, most still acknowledge that Mike Trout is the best player in MLB.

I like Trout, a lot, but he is not even in the MVP race. That award typically goes to a guy who has a great year with a winning team. Trout is having a good year with a lousy team. WAR is a good stat but not the only one, and for a team that is not winning much "wins above replacement" just shows how little difference it makes in his case.

This year it's going to be the David Ortiz memorial award.

According to the WAR stat, Mike Trout is now the greatest player at his age of all time! With a career WAR of 47.3, and moved even higher after last nights performance,(48.4), Trout has passed Ty Cobb,(47.2), for the highest WAR by their age 24 season.

It seems to me non white baseball players pad their stats the last week of the year channeling their self centered nature to the full extent. Meanwhile it seems to me white players go into a final week slump. So Mike Trout who got smacked with a pitch yesterday had an MRI today and sources say he is sore but hopes to play Friday. He better. Most important I want to see Trout get 100 RBI's. He has three games left and just needs one RBI to hit that mark. Secondly it would be nice to see him hit one more home run to get to 30. Come on Mike just do it. Last year he ended up batting .299 oh the pain. The guy is my favorite athlete make my friggen day.

It's funny looking back at the beginning of the season when Harper started off on that tear and everyone immediately said he had taken over the spot as the best player in baseball. Harper had a pretty disappointing season when all was said and done and Trout continues his consistent excellence.

AHHHHHH something to feel great about for a change. And he got the RBI late in the game so I was sweating it out. Some media people think the Angels should trade Trout for a bunch of players in the hopes of putting together a winning team again. Yeh trade the most popular Angel in the history of the franchise. They need to have better support for him in the 4 and 5 hole. Pujols just does not make enough contact anymore and after that the Angels lineup is awful. Also Escobar is fine at leadoff but Calhoun, a decent player should be moved further down the lineup and bring in a real number 2 guy who can work the count, walk and has a good OBP. Trout is being pitched around like crazy.
And of course they need pitching. They desperately need a left fielder who can hit, a catcher and a power hitting first baseman. They are solid up the middle with SS Simmons and of course Trout. Trade Trout my ass, go out and get some hitters so he can actually see pitches he can hit. And spend money on some pitching. The manager might be burned out too. But congrats to MT for another terrific season. I've mentioned it before but he is my favorite current athlete. Trout got a rousing standing O when they took him out after his big RBI hit in the 6th inning. Can't wait to see how he performs next season!

Trout reached a couple of career milestones too. He reached 600, runs (600), 900 hits, (917), and just missed his 500th RBI, (497). He led the league in runs, (123), BB (116), OBP (.441), OPS+(174), and WAR 10.6. I still think he has a chance for the MVP.

Just an incredible year for Trout! Getting 30 SB was a great feat and I was thrilled when he got his RBI #100 which is even more incredible considering he hits #3 and sometimes #2 in the lineup. And the angels lineup isn't much to write home about.

Trout cut down on his K's by a decent amount this year and upped his walk rate. He started running again this year which was great to see. Believe me, the only reason he quit running the last couple years was because Pujols throws a hissy fit when people run while he's batting.

I'm not sure how rare it is, but I find it interesting to note that Trout has 5 straight years of 5+ triples.

Another string Trout has going is the 5 straight years of 100 + Runs Scored. The record is Lou Gehrig / Afraud / Hank Aaron with 13 straight 100+ Run seasons. Trout had previously tied the record for most consecutive seasons LEADING the league in Runs scored at 3 straight years.

The record for most years (non-consecutive) leading the league in runs is Babe Ruth with 8 in the AL, 5 years is NL record. Trout has led the league 4 times.... And he is only 25 years old!!!!
