Im sick of having 40 times thrown around like its all that matters in football. People need to forget 40 times, and look at on field production. Hass is the best WR in Seattle. The fans are so drunk its crazy. Even if it took him 8 seconds to run the 40, nobody can gaurd the man. Put him on the gridiron, let the man shine!
Good find ToughJ.

Yeah very true. My general rule is if a guy does everything on film as a receiver in the FBS very well and has been very productive- than I wouldn't be skeptical of him as long as he can break 4.7. But there are exceptions even to my 4.7 rule. Anquan Bolden is a good NFL "STARTING WR" and ran a 4.72. David Ball could have been a slightly faster version of Anquan Bolden if he was "allowed" to play.

BTW, I forgot to indicate the author of the above snipped article. It was Kevin Roberts. He's written some good articles, but I disagree with his Peyton Hillis one.

Hass is the real deal.

istarted topost on the comments sectionof that pieceand share some inconvenient facts, but i don't think they'd want to hear it and i try not to waste my time talking to idiots.

seriously, how canthese fools think aguy who is 6-1, 210-pounds be too small when the guys who are ahead of him on the depth chart are even smaller? and they say his speed is a problem, but he runs the same time as starting wideout Hugivesadamn?

this doesn't even get into the proven ability to play the position, which again comes down firmly on the side of Hass.

i mean i just don't what else to say. isn't the truth clear enough to see?

Speed is different than quickness. Why the heck s the 40 yd dash still the end all be all? Man the NFL hates change. If I were Hass, I would hire the best speed coach in the country, have him improve my running mechanics, reaction time, strength levels, and flexibility - line up on the end zone and run a 4.3 or 4.4 and then shove that in their faces when they have no excuses for him. This has to be so frustrating for him.

It would probably be impossible for Hass to run a 4.3. He most likely has been working on his speed but I think he has a chance to run low 4.5 or high 4.4. That would get some attention.

Hass should ditch the speed coach and hire a lawyer.

He is not even on the depth chart. Has he been cut or did he quit?

A lot of depth charts aren't updated until the regular season or at least near the end of training camp. CBS, Yahoo and some other sites do a pretty good job of keeping them updated though they often have a fair amount of inaccurate information.

Hass didn't play at all in Seattle's third preseason game, or possibly just a little bit. The same pattern played out for him previously in New Orleans and Chicago -- regularly getting open and catching everything in sight in practice, playing in the first preseason games, then suddenly being "disappeared" in preparation for being cut. What a crying shame for Mike.

Hass could have been a Steve Largent type receiver. It's not about being the fastest guy out there. Even Jerry Rice had only a little better than average speed. Lagent and Rice were two of the best to ever play. Mike Hass in my opinon could have been a pro bowl receiver. He was unstoppable in college. What a damn shame. It makes me sick to my stomach at how badly he has been treated. When will it end? I hate the nfl.

I watched that game last night, and I did not see him at all. (I did tune out occasionally, if he played a series or 2, I could have missed it).

As Don says, Hass plays well early, and then the coaches just take him out of rotation as the regaular season approaches. It's almost as if, they are trying to justify cutting him. Because, after all, if he kept playing and did well, then it would be much harder to keep one of the black WRs instead.

A shame indeed, and very upsetting.

This will be so disappointing if/when he gets cut. I stopped being a fan of any particular NFL team around 2005 and now just follow white players so i will not stop watching the nfl, just cheer for the white players in it.

The Seahawks cut black WR Bumpus today, but I saw one projection of the Seahawks final 53, and neither Payne or Hass are on it, with two black scrubs beating them out. Hopefully thats wrong, but I doubt it.

It's like waiting to be led to the gallows at dawn, or watching a train wreck in slow motion. So sad for Hass, he would have been another Steve Largent in Seattle (surely the DWF's can remember him.)

This article doesn't mention Hass or Payne as being in the hunt for the last receiver position, even if the team cuts the over-rated and perpetually injured Deion Branch. What else can be expected from Jim Mora? He showed his fealty to the Caste System when he coached the Falcons:

His apple didn't fall far from the diddly poo tree did it? God, what kind of sickening conversations do him and his old man have when they get together I wonder?

I wonder if they get misty eyed talking to one another like Marty Schottenheimer about the blacks they coach? Edited by: Bear Backer

Hass played very little the last game. He and Payne were placed at the bottom of the barrel. I can't believe a former Freddy B. winner gets treated like this. What a damn shame. This is devastating. As an ASU Sundevil fan, I watched Hass, who had to walk-on at OSU, dismantle our team and the rest of the Pac-10 for 3 years. He was probably the best receiver in the history of the Pac-10. The only way you could really appreciate his talent was to watch him play every week. Man, was he fun to watch. I am utterly shocked he has not been given a real chance to play in the NFL. Former ASU WR, Derek Hagan competed against Hass and was not nearly as good as Hass, yet Hagan has been playing for several years in the NFL. Sadly, I've come to the conclusion that the ONLY real factor in keeping Hass on the outside is skin color and not a "slow" 40 time. How can deserving white athletes like Hass be treated this way when the vast majority of NFL fans are white? As for me, the number of minutes the NFL in my life is going way, way down starting this season because of what has happened to Hass and many other talented white athletes. In the last few days, every time I go to the NFL channel, the nausea starts. Goodbye NFL channel and hello NHL channel. Goodbye to major minutes for the Pac-10 (major--1A) football and hello to many more minutes for Univ of Montana (griz) football. Folks, pick a small college and support their football team. Tune out the NFL and 1A college football. Lets stop supporting the institutions that shaft guys like Hass. Just my 2 cents.

Welcome to the site and great first post! qj, I think that slowly more people are starting to question the status quo because it's becoming more and more obvious to those with a brain. The movement is starting from the H.S level up. Maybe we should call it the "Rivals Rebellion" or "Anti-Rivals Rebellion" maybe.

Feel free to post a comment after the article by this caste swine:

Courtney Greene Signs withJacksonville

by John Morgan

Readers number_twentyone brought this to my attention and I thought it deserved a front page post. LoHud.com reports that Courtney Greene signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars and will be on their active roster. The intriguing detail is that Seattle was set to re-sign him to their practice squad.

Courtney Greene was all set to return Sunday to the Seattle Seahawks. The rookie from New Rochelle had completed rehab for his sprained left knee, and after being cut by Seattle Labor Day weekend, he was prepared to reach the NFL by way of the practice squad.
Hours before Greene boarded a flight back to Seattle on Sunday, he learned his NFL dreams would be realized on this side of the country.

That kind of too-clever roster wrangling, and pound foolish money saving is nothing new to Seahawks fans, but this is a reminder that not much has changed. Tim Ruskell has found some hidden talent and pulled off a few financial coups, but he gets too cute with penny ante decisions. His most infamous blunder was losing Steve Hutchinson. The loss and decisions that led to the loss have become the third rail of Seahawks coverage. Ruskell doesn't want to talk about it and fans don't want to read about it. Was the decision made before he arrived? Could he have anticipated the Vikings treachery? I don't know, but applying the transition tag to Hutchinson sure fits Ruskell's MO.

Greene didn't show much in the preseason, but he has pro talent. I praise Ruskell when he finds pro talent for cheap, be it a free agent or a late draft pick, but when he loses pro talent to retain Mike Hass or Logan Payne, I have to chide him. Seattle lost special teams and secondary depth, but it didn't have to. It could have signed Greene to the practice squad and allowed him to heal in the confines of the VMAC.

An Ohio writer reprints an Oregon writer's proposal that the Browns sign Mike Hass. Given that the Browns receivers, even with Braylon Edwards gone, continue to drop more passes than they catch, maybe just maybe an NFL team will do the right thing and give this kid a chance to play. There's a comments section after the article:

Reporter says a practice squad wide receiver could solve Derek Anderson's problems: Cleveland Browns afternoon news roundup

A number of teams could use a player like Hass. St. Louis is one team that comes to mind but they already signed Amendola so that would be too much to ask for.

The Browns already have Mike Furrey- who is now taking a back seat to human drop machine Chansi Stuckey. They are extremely unlikely to sign another white WR (unless it's at the expense of Furrey).

Moronic Eric Mangini is not a great candidate to be the first head coach to truly buck the caste system.

I get tired of hearing about 40 yard times and WRs. Since when is football played in shorts and helmets? What does perfecting a track start have to do with productivity on the football field? And since when did a super-duper 40 time mean a guy can run patterns or hold onto the football?
