It seems more and more like some group of sombody, somewhere is giving commands from positions of power. It seems more and more like the commands are to NEVER let the public see their precious negros records falling at the hands of skilled white men like all those we discuss on CF. I think Jones would shatter WR records if given, say, 12, or 13 years to be a number one guy. So could have many of our guys in the past. But with Jones its even worse, because he is litaraly a freak of an athlete! I think Brian Leonard, Peyton Hillis, and Jacob Hester could all set some RB records, if they got 25 carries a game. So could have Allstot if he would have been used as a fulltime Tailbck. Instead, he mostly just kept Warrick Dunn with a job by supurb lead blocking.
The NFL is an absolute joke. A bad joke, and its a bad joke on us, our fathers, and our offspring. I wish sports had not caught my intrest so much as a youngster.

Alstott deserved to get most of the carries. Even a fat, slow tub of lard like Lendale White has more carries in a single season than Alstott did. White is only in his 4th season!!

what is weird is i keep getting my friends to make youtube accounts to put up the matt jones highlight video i made, and the nfl keeps contacting youtube and taking it down, and shutting down the account that puts it up. Yet many other nfl affletes highlights still stay up. Why would they keep taking it down, after it gets only 50 views? the first time it got 3,000. Maybe im just thinking of a big conspiracy but it seems like they dont want anyone seeing that he could actually play receiver. Its like they are searching for matt jones pro highlights and taking them down.Edited by: dwid

from Jay Glazer's "ask Jay" blog ...

QUESTION â€" Doug from Baltimore, MD: "Hey Glaze, with teams like the Ravens and Chiefs clamoring for WR help, why isn't Matt Jones on the forefront of these tryouts? Is it as simple as teams just wanting to sidestep the negative publicity he could potentially bring?"

Jay_Glazer: "Because you can't trust him. Talent vs. trust is a separate issue. That's not saying he shouldn't get another chance, he should. But he's going to have to find a team that's willing to gamble and hope he doesn't let them down."
why exactly can't Jones be trusted? i'm curious ...

Gee, I'm guessing the same reasons why people like Chris Henry and Mike Vick appatantly can be trusted again?

Maybe it may even have to do with Jone's skin color........

I am sure that creep Glazer said that he should get another chance with a half smirk on his face. Neither him or any of the other white hating caste media want Jones to get even a second chance in the league where blacks affletes get 3rd, 4th and 5th chances. It is typical of the caste media to blow out of proportion anything negative that a white athlete does. I have even heard some ridiculously compare him to Michael Vick. Michael Vick, really? The guy who butchered dogs for sexual entertainment like a savage and said it was a culture thing. Yes I said butchered dogs for sexual entertainment because that is what it is. Anyone who thinks sticking electric probes to the genitals of animals for fun does so because of a sick, sadistic sexual pleasure they get from it. A culture thing, really? Don't you mean a barbarous lack of culture thing? I am not defending what Jones did. I blasted him when his drug story broke for being incredibly stupid. It was wrong and of him to involve himself in drugs, and even dumber to admit that he had a drink *GASP* on top of it. Being a white player, he should have understood the blatant double standards that exist for white players in the NFL, where an unquestionably high percentage of players are from ghetto backgrounds where drug use is not only part of everyday life, but is acceptable and even promoted. Apparently Jones did not understand this, or perhaps didn't think they applied to him because he was running around with blacks, but the double standards obviously did apply or he would have teams breaking down his door to give him a second chance because of his talent. I am curious too as to why Jones cant be trusted, when there have been literally dozens of black players who have done far worse who can obviously be trusted. One can only rationally assume that it is because the color of his skin that he cannot be trusted by the NFL. Or rather it is because of the color of his skin, that teams look for an excuse not to give him a second chance. Edited by: Bear Backer

At this point, I think OJ Simpson could get a contract before Matt Jones. Disgusting to say the least. Oh well, screw the NFL. The entire league deserves not one red cent of support.

Here's the latest on Matt. At least his agent is quoted stating the obvious in the last paragraph. Mentioning Jones in the same breath with Vick and the huge contingent of true criminals in the NFL is nothing but persecuting Matt for the much greater sins of the others. In the comments afterward (go to the link to read them) race is brought into it but with precious little comprehension of what's going on.

The Mike Vick redemption story has begun in Philly.

So when does Matt Jones' begin?

Jones, a first-round pick of the Jaguars in 2005,was released in March, two days after finishinga five-day jail sentence.

Jones landed in the hoosegow because he tested positive for alcohol while in a diversion program. He entered the diversion program via a plea dealstemming a drug possession arrest last July. He was arrested for drug possession after police found him cutting up cocaine with a Foot Locker credit card while sitting in a parked car.

Dave Butz, Jones' agent, said his client been training in Bradenton, Florida at IMG Academy. Butz also said that Jones worked out last week at "Proehlific Park," with former NFL wideout Ricky Proehl.

"He's spent $20,000 of his own money to make sure he stays in shape and ready to go," Butz said of Jones. "Interest is picking up and I expect in the next week or so that he'll be going to a number of workouts and will be getting signed."

Butz explained that Jones hasn't been signedbecause teams first want to see the players they signed and drafted in the spring compete during camp. After one or two preseason games, those that can't cut it will be released, possibly paving a path for Jones.

Going off of last year, it would appear he could help someone. Jones, still only 26 years old,had 65 catches in 12 games before serving a three-game suspension imposed after he entered the diversion program.

Following a disappointing start to his NFL career, it seemed that the six-foot-six speedster finally gained some momentum, and that he was turning his career around. Jones explained that the alcohol violation came when he drank "a couple of beers" while playing golf last March.

Czar Florio had a good take on the situation back then.

Butz, who said he wouldn't name possible suitors for Jones, was asked if Vick's signing by the Eagles on Friday might persuade a team that previously was afraid to pull the trigger on Jones to give him a chance.

"I don't think Matt Jones and Michael Vick belong in the same sentence, to be honest with you," said Butz. "There is no comparison between their situations and what they've done. Matt has never been convicted of a crime."

Thanks for posting that article Don. I am so anxious to see him go somewhere soon. He needs to be at least a number 2 or 3 receiver. The guy has so much talent! His long strides remind me a little of Christophe Lemaitre. Both of this guys can fly!

I'm glad to see this article, but I'm so sick of seeing so-called journalists writing about how Matt had a disappointing or lack-luster career until last year. Why don't they say the truth, that he never was given an opportunity until last year. Everytime I read that crap it gives me a bad taste in my mouth.

HA HA the white guys even have to work out with other white guys. They should start a club, oops that would be racist.

The "journalists" have been beyond disgusting in being the fomenters of the national orgy of hate against Jones for what was a minor indiscretion compared to what literally hundreds of black NFL players have done (or, as is more and more the case, been accused of and then conveniently had the charges dropped). Most of the DWFs have no clue that Jones being drafted in the first round by Jacksonville is different than being drafted in the first round by, say, Indianapolis. Every NFL organization plays by the racial spoils system rules, but Jones never had a chance in Jacksonville until all their other receivers were injured or arrested or just plain stunk, whereas in Indy, with the offensive system they have there, Peyton Manning throwing the ball, and a team where Matt would actually have some white teammates and a generally more supportive atmosphere, his career trajectory would have been much different.

I hope the move is not too little, too late. I
thought
Jones would benefit from something along these lines before his
troubles. To echo what Don said, you never felt Jones was anything more
than an afterthought and was not going to be coached/schooled as he
should be in Shaqsonville.

The Chiefs today signed veteran super-turd Ashley Lelie, a first round bust who has caught 49 passes the last three seasons combined. "Anyone But Matt Jones" should be the NFL's new battle cry.

good find, green fire.

here's a live link to go directly to the article. and i'll post some excerpts below.

... For the Jaguars, two strikes was enough. Jones was arrested, released and waived.

``There is a level of accountability that players on this team must meet,'' Jaguars general manager Gene Smith said at the time.

But Jones refers to the lapse as one of judgement, not character. ``In the NFL they don't test for alcohol. If I'd have known I could lose my job for a few beers I never would have done that,'' he said.

With no job and no team, Jones felt nothing like the receiver who victimized the Dolphins for a career-high 128 yards on six catches during a Week 13 matchup in 2006 ...

``We've really been able to dial him in and create a sense of urgency,'' Trevor Moawad of IMG said. Jones has spent more than $20,000 at IMG to relearn everything about being in the NFL -- from field-level skills to nutrition and dealing with coaches and the media.

Moawad can see where coaches in the past have read Jones' ``laid-back, Southern boy'' demeanor as lazy.

``But he's improved in a soup-to-nuts way,'' Moawad said.

The facility's staff has brought in 15 NFL players, including Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Fabian Washington, to help Jones simulate the camp time he is missing. When the academy hosted 20 NBA draftees, Jones stepped onto the hardwood and fit right in. Between trying to sell his Jacksonville home and workouts with former Super Bowl receiver Ricky Proehl, Jones is trying to focus on his game during a time when other players prepare with two-a-days.

``It's close. We're out running and doing routes from 10:30 [a.m.] to 2:30 in the heat,'' Jones said. ``But nothing is camp.''

``The only real difference is that he isn't watching as much film as he would be in camp,'' Moawad said.

Moawad said he fears Jones has been lumped into a cast of outlaw football players such as Michael Vick, Donte' Stallworth and Adam Jones ...
``All I know is that the first team that brings me in isn't going to let me leave,'' Jones said.

Jones was treated like crap even before the cocaine incident. There were several games where he was inactive for some reason or listed as a backup quarterback.

Now that Michael Vick has been signed by the Eagles, Matt Jones' situation really stinks. There is something fishy going on.

My home team is the Chicago Bears, and considering the quality of their wide receiver corp, they should be eager to sign Matt Jones. But, the head coach is Lovie Smith, who apparently believes that there is not a white receiver who has what it takes to be an NFL wide receiver.

We already have plenty of white coaches who discriminate against white athletes in the NFL. A black coach like Lovie who hates white skill players is even worse.

WHY THE HELL IS MATT JONES STILL TRYING TO GET A TEAM TO SIGN HIM!!!! HE SHOULD BE SIGNED BY NOW, ESPECIALLY NOW THAT VICK IS ON A ROSTER

(i know the answer is obvious but I am having trouble sleeping, I start a new college tomorrow and have to wake up at 5 30am, cant sleep, and keep getting poed that the NFL keeps taking down my Matt Jones video that proves he can play wide receiver in the NFL)

Edit: found an old version of the video I put on google video, it was when i didnt have the program registered and the water logo was on for a few seconds. A little exposure but youtube gets alot more viewers. It gets like 3,000 in one week and then closed down. People want to see Matt Jones play and think he is good. The NFL just doesnt seem to want people to see that Matt Jones can play
