The Belichick "coaching tree" has been as disappointing as they come so far, including McDaniels who infamously screwed over Peyton Hillis so badly in Denver that there were rumors that Hillis was having an affair with McDaniels' wife. But that was a long time ago, is it possible McDaniels will be fairer this time around? If it happens great but I won't get my hopes up.

Davante Adams traded to the Raiders. This has big-time implications for both Aaron Rodgers and Hunter Renfrow. Adams signed the richest WR deal ever, which means Derek Carr will be throwing to Adams all the time, while Rodgers now has pretty much nothing at receiver. There's never any reluctance to use a top Black receiver as the unabashed go-to guy.

I’m cautiously optimistic Renfrow will continue to see 100 targets even with Adams there. I think what we will find is that Adams, while an excellent receiver, will begin to decline slightly. I predict he is heavily targeted early and as the season goes on less. He will still be very productive but he won’t be seeing 15 targets a game.

Yeh, it's surprising the Packers didn't franchise tag Adams. There's been reports that they weren't close to a long-term deal and things may have gone sour. It seems on the surface that the Raiders got the better of the deal. Then again Adams may turn out to be over-rated thanks to having a brilliant QB throwing to him in Green Bay. (If that turns out to be the case Derrick Carr will get all the blame.) You often hear about how successful White receivers are "made" by their quarterbacks -- Jordy Nelson, Adam Thielen, the Patriots' collection of them, etc. or because they're "buddies" -- but not when it comes to successful Black ones.

I am curious to know how much, if anything, Rogers knew? He has not been shy about the Packers brass getting rid of his trusted receivers (Kumerow, for example) and now Adams is gone. His connection with Aaron was second only to Nelson’s in my estimation.

That's the party line and it may be true, but is Adams going to put up numbers to rival those he accumulated in Green Bay with Rodgers as his QB? I like Derek Carr but he's no Aaron Rodgers. It just seems like something's missing -- maybe there was friction between Adams and Rodgers, or the Packers just didn't want to pay Adams what he wanted.

I think the weather and nightlife could be a huge factor in Adams decision. Stay in Green Bay and freeze in the frozen tundra. The alternative is to have a million dollar manison or condo on or near the Vegas Strip. He gets the most money ever, the nightlife, the glamor similar to Hollywood and he can wear shorts and a tshirt almost year round.

Glad Gutenkunt showed some spine and dealt Adams. Clears 20mil for cash strapped Packers and Adams gets to be the man in Vegas.

I don't think Adams to LV will affect Renfrow. If anything should clear things up even more for him in the slot.

Supposedly the Packers offered more than the Raiders, Adams just really wanted to be in LV. Before the trade even happened he bought a house next to Derek Carr in Vegas, and obviously he was Adams’ college QB. Seems like above all Adams wanted out of GB and LV was the place he wanted to go.

Raiders sign LB Kyler Fackrell. They run a 4-3 so it’ll be interesting to see if they use him as a tradition outside linebacker or an edge rusher. He has mostly been a 3-4 OLB his whole career, people forget he had 10.5 sacks in 2018!

Derek Carr certainly got paid. He's a very good but not great quarterback at this point in his career. Given the contracts receivers and QBs are getting now, you gotta wonder what players like Burrow and Herbert will get when their rookie contracts run out. We're probably not far away at all from top QBs making $70 and $80 mil and more per season. Another reason why I don't even want to know what pro athletes make.

Raiders signed Derek Carr to a three-year, $121.5 million extension through 2025. Carr was entering the final year of his deal in 2022 but is now set to start for the Raiders for at least the next four seasons. It's a slightly risky move given that the Raiders have yet to see Carr in new head coach Josh McDaniels' offense. At the same time, Carr played well last season ranking QB14 in EPA per play and QB12 in completion percentage over expected, and will now be playing with Davante Adams. It's reasonable to expect that Carr will take a step forward this season. Still, the Raiders could have a tough go of it over the next four seasons as they compete in a division with Patrick Mahomes, Justin Herbert, and Russell Wilson. Carr's new deal is good news for Raiders pass catchers, overall. If Carr can rekindle his college connection with Adams, he could be a low-end fantasy QB1.

What a defensive backfield the Raiders could conceivably have: Trayvon, Tre'Von, Cre'von, and Duron (Mullen, Moehrig, LeBlanc, and Harmon). And of course fronting them will be Jayon (Brown) at lb., plus Divine Devil (Divine Deablo) with Rock Ya-Sin (Rock Your Sin) waiting on the apron. They are still looking for a few good Jalens to round it out.

That is hilarious. The fact that they made this that long ago just goes to show how long things have been ridiculous for! I doubt they could make this now. I suspect people would have an issue with it?

First Beasley and now Leavitt. These guys were heroic and perhaps a little naive for speaking out last season. For White players on the fringes, they were easily disposable. I’m sure the league would love to jettison Kirk Cousins too, but with his contract and name recognition, that’s probably a bridge too far.

Considering the way the Raiders screwed over Nick Kwiatkoski and Tanner Muse, I'd call this karma:

Raiders placed Micah Kiser (leg) on injured reserve, ending his season. The Raiders signed linebacker Curtis Bolton in a corresponding move. Kiser went down with an apparent leg injury on Sunday, though the exact details of the injury are still unknown. Kiser was a frequent contributor on special teams for the Broncos last year, logging 81 tackles while appearing in 10 games.
