Las Vegas Raiders General Thread

I actually think Ben Johnson is one of the few coaches in the league right now being an innovator with his playcalling. The Lions offense has been high scoring and entertaining to watch. If he does indeed end up with the Raiders hopefully they either let O'Connell be the guy or draft a White QB. Brady playing a role within the organization and engaging with both Caleb Williams and Shedeur Sanders makes me a bit uneasy about the route they will go at the position.

Geno Smiff reunites with Plantation Pete, not a surprise. Minshew was recently cut.

Leaves Sam Howell atop the Seattle depth chart for now.

Raiders acquired QB Geno Smith from the Seahawks in exchange for a 2025 third-round pick. Ian Rapaport of NFL.com was first to report the deal, and multiple outlets report that the signal-caller is expected to get a new contract with the trade. Smith finished his third year as the starter for the Seahawks with 4,320 yards passing, a 70.4 percent completion percentage and a 20/14 TD/INT over 17 starts. The 34-year-old will head to Las Vegas to be the starter, and it’s fair to say that the weapons at his disposal — with all due respect to Brock Bowers — are a downgrade over what he had in Seattle. Still, it’s a reunion with former coach Pete Carroll, and he’ll get a chance to help the Raiders try and compete in the vaunted AFC West. The big question now is what Seattle does to address the quarterback position.

Seahawks are targeting Darnold. As a Seahawks fan this is practically the only good news I’ve heard in years

Let's hope so but I wouldn't count on the Seahawks to start a White QB, maybe never again. Ideally now that the Raiders are adding to the number of Black QBs starting, I'd like to see Howell get a chance to start for Seattle and Darnold start for another team and the Vikings go with McCarthy, but that's probably closer to fantasy than actually happening. Howell is more talented than Geno but needs more of an opportunity than he got running for his life with Washington.
