Lachlan Kennedy 6.43, 9.98 and 20.26

Amazing!! Two sprinters sub 10 in the last 24 hours? Congrats to the young men . After the false start that had to be particularly tough. I did notice a very quick gun and Kennedy got out of the blocks fast. Probably way better than sitting in the blocks waiting for it..

My wish for Lachlan Kennedy is for him to continue to build on that speed endurance. He is getting better but he still needs to improve more going forward. Kennedy is only 5'9 and it's even rarer to see short guys run fast 200 meters. Some have done it but it's more for the long striders. Despite his height the 200 will only add to his talent. Would love to see him continue getting closer to 20 seconds over the next few years. This will help him to go 9.70's to 9.80's in the future which can put him on the medal stand at the Olympics.

My dream would be for him to become the fastest man in the world. With his genetics it is possible.

I’d love for him to become the fastest man ever from Australia. I don’t think Gout is ever going to be able to beat him in the 100. Maybe the 200 but I’d say the 100 belongs to Kennedy. Perhaps this will push Browning below 10. If Browning can get the monkey off his back and get that first sub 10, maybe he can start to progress.

I have no doubt he will shatter Patrick Johnsons Australian 100 Meters Record. If he gets a max legal wind and he nails the start, drive phase and finish he is already in the high 9.80's right now! I want him to go into the 9.70's at some point. He is 21 and with him only running track for several years it is entirely possible. The future is bright for this kid. Finally a kid with the talent physically & mentally. He doesn't seem to feel pressure. Ice in his veins as he always runs relaxed. Matthew Boling could learn from Kennedy about running relaxed!

Just to show how rare it is regardless of race, only 13 men have run in the 9.7 range or better. Ideally 2 or 3 white guys could hit this mark within the next few years. Thats when the conversation really changes in my opinion. Kennedy looks to have the potential but we will have to wait and see how Walker and some of the others look over the next couple years.

True. There have been a lot of sprinters who had the talent but not the personality. I wasn’t into track much back in the days of Matthew Shirvington, but didn’t he have a problem of freezing up and running stiff?

Yes he did. I was a huge Shirvo Fan but he let the pressure get to him. The fans, media, etc, etc. He even saw a psychologist to help with the pressure. Shirvington also trained too hard in my opinion. It led to alot of injuries.

I had great respect for Boling's physical ability some years ago (Shirvo's too) but I think Kennedy may have a higher ability to cope under pressire and not doubt himself. That in itself is a huge talent

Yes sir. Great minds think alike. Can you please try to find out Lachlan Kennedy's height? I want to know for sure his exact height? Thanks.

probably " I should be on that plane for Europe doing some racing"
Thanx for posting the article. Here is the money part:

He'll spend the next three weeks training under the guise of his coach, Andrew Iselin, at the AIS European Training Centre in Gavirate in Italy's north.

He'll next race over 200m at this month's Golden Spike Meet in Ostrava, Czech Republic, where he'll take on Gout, before racing a 100m at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon early next month.

Prefontaine is always a fast track. Hopefully he can throw down a new PB.

Great article on Lachlan Kennedy. Thanks mastermulti. I love this kids confidence.

Gout Gout is listed at 6'2 and I've seen Kennedy next to him in pics & video. My guess is that Lachlan Kennedy is 6'0 feet tall. Maybe 6'1.
