Julian Reus wants to run at the German Championships in Nuremberg (24 to 26 July) the first German to 100 meters under ten seconds. Seven weeks before the competition in already so far with 15,000 spectators per day filled frankenstadion the 27-year-old was relaxed and gave a race with radio presenter Florian Kerschner from Media Hit Radio N1.
Julian Reus is the fastest man in Germany: 10,05 seconds his best performance at 100 meters. Only half blink of an eye is missing in order to crack the magic to run less than ten seconds, thereby making history. "Every now and then this number is of course present," is the German record holder, "but I know what it all has to fit. There are so many factors that play purely because of: the shape, the temperature, the wind, the track and the spectators. It is a challenging task, but it's doable. "
From the excitement Wattenscheider is no trace. Hard to imagine, because in Nuremberg will whip him more than 15,000 fans to the front. "I hope people do neat atmosphere," said the blond boy looking forward to the atmosphere in the octagonal stadium and declared with shining eyes: "I think it's cool to walk in front of so many people, in so far pushes me rather than to me makes worse. "
The necessary looseness
This composure beaming Julian Reus also at the press conference with media Hit Radio N1. Morning Host Florian Kerschner called the Sprinter from TV Wattenscheid 01 to a duel. A welcome change for the 27-year-old who laughed a lot, joked and the odd cheeky slogan was ready. "You have the Sprint already be concentrated and focused, but also needs the necessary looseness in order to run fast," explains the likeable Hanauer.
Then the starting signal. Julian Reus catapulted himself out of his starting block and hisses almost noiselessly on tiptoe with short steps. Although the model athlete is only half gas, the race is decided prematurely after only five meters: The fastest man in Germany has already three meters ahead and seconds later almost out of sight.
"As Trabant against Ferrari"
"It's like you obsolete a fast train. As Trabant against Ferrari. You feel as if you are, that's brutal, "Florian Kerschner marveled at the explosiveness of his side's. "On television, falling on not so because all run pretty similar. But the difference is stark: he runs like a gazelle ".
Julian Reus also took unequal battle with a lot of humor: "Flo has done well, has become Second, a sovereign power. It was a cool action and a lot of fun. "After that, the German champion was still available for practical jokes and played his national coach Ronald Stein an on-air phone prank. "He's really mad relaxed and incredibly nice. A sympathetic guy, very down to earth. With him, I would go drinking and a beer in the evening, "Kerschner said with a wink.
Reus wants the Triple
In seven weeks, there will be serious but, when it comes into the starting blocks in the Grundig Stadium. Julian Reus speaks of "thrills and adrenaline," because "you can not afford to make mistakes." When Sprint even there but "thoughtlessness. When I run, I think of nothing, "said the athlete. The training to the German Championships is through carefully planned and calculated.
"In the last two weeks I prepare myself mentally then the championships before," chats Julian Reus, who has recovered from his injury early in the season on the left flexor, out of school. "I'm on the right track. The German Championships is nothing in the way! "
