The James Webb Space Telescope was launched this morning.

https://www.jwst.nasa.gov/

Its ability to image infrared light will allow it to directly see some planets orbiting distant stars. While it is very unlikely that the facility will be able to see Earth-like planets, it will be able to see the reflection of infrared light off planets comparable to Jupiter, and it will be able to see young planets that are hot enough to be molten -- much like Earth was when it was first formed. Detailed information about exoplanets will allow scientists to better understand how planetary systems are formed and give us a better idea of whether our own solar system is unusual.

Another in the long list of White scientific successes.

I remember the launch of the Hubble Space Telescope many years ago and the subsequent successful repair missions. This, of course, was when America had its own Space Shuttle and didn't have to resort to hitching rides with the Russians.

Robert Whitaker RIP was a congressional staffer when the Mule Train Democratic reps were going to stick it in Whitey's eye, they hate NASA, and between Whitaker and Jerry Pournelle a write in campaign convinced the usual white Democratic congressional reps to overrule the Mule Train clowns and save Hubble from a death of no funding. Then when Hubble was botched NASA instead of sending up the usual "First so and so" into space on the shuttle sent 4 stud Navy pilots up to put a contact lens on Hubble.

Of course we on the Right never exploit the divisions of social, cultural and political left. I guess we are still fortunate that some White and Asian men and women know how to exploit the political process and get funding for these types of things in an environment where White scientific achievement is more a subject of passive aggressive mockery than of admiration.

Some Negroes say the moon landings were a hoax, because they are envious that all the Apollo astronauts were white.

All great scientific achievements are by white people: Leonardo Da Vinci, Thomas Edison, the Wright brothers, Yuri Gagarin, Neil Armstrong, Edwin Hubble, James Webb, etc. The non-whites should be grateful.

Whilst bandying about the achievements of groups that haven't innovated in 1000+ years or claiming that whites stole everything. Many whites actually buy these narratives leading to apathy and a lack of pride.

It's important to note that whites "punch above their weight" when it comes to innovation, much more innovation relative to population size. This is important to adjust for when comparing accomplishment.

There's a great comprehensive list of the most widespread black invention myths out there. I'll hold off on linking to it directly because all the places I've seen it have been on sites that use slurs that aren't allowed here, but it should be easy to find in a search.

The term "Mule Train" comes from a black lead protest to the gates of NASA in I believe 1969. Now of course the oligarchy that rules us would barely mention that in any sense because we are to believe the Left in all its forms is a united block for "progress", yeah sure.

The plaque that Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin left on the moon contained these important words: "We came in peace for all mankind."

Every reasonable, intelligent person on the planet recognized the tone of that and respected the Apollo astronauts, the space program, and their achievements. Even the Soviets congratulated NASA after Apollo 11 landed on the moon.

Meanwhile, the snivel rights activists were whining "whitey's on the moon, what about us?" All they care about is themselves. All they see is skin color. If they're not getting the glory, they cry and whine like pathetic man-children. Words like "we came in peace for all mankind" go right over their heads.

Why haven't we had a mission to the moon since '72?

Only robots allowed up there now huh?

The American government has been unwilling to finance a return to the moon, yet it spent trillions on Middle Eastern wars for Israel.

However, if Trump had won the last election, we would now be in the process of preparing a mission.

Sad. Shows what we've been up to last 50 years.

And after all this, NASA, and other like companies, will present computer generated images, composites, photoshops, processed images, greenscreen images, and augmented virtual reality but not one photo of whatever it is they present as real. So many trips in outer space and yet not one unaltered or manufactured photo of Earth from outer space ...

That's not why. NASA has stated they lost the technology and can't get it back (not joking!). In other words, the dog ate my homework is the answer.

No Negro has ever walked on the moon.

You can still be respectful of largely white created technology and think the moon landing is potentially a hoax.
Let’s not forget the moon landing was a government operation (the same talented folks who brought you the dmv and the post office).

The mule train people are ridiculous don’t get me wrong though

This landmark telescope apparently cost ten billion dollars of taxpayer money. While that's an unfathomable price tag for regular joes like me and you, our government ships that much to the Ukraine (via laundered defense contracts) every few weeks now. Between the two, I'd rather have more telescopes. (or an actual moon landing)

Guns for Ukraine while the US infrastructure is pathetically underdeveloped.

I think nasa is mostly a waste but I agree that if it’s a choice between supporting other countries to keep ridiculous wars going versus attempting scientific discovery I’d pick the latter.

Agreed to both of you.

The billions to Ukraine is mostly coverup/rescue the crookedness that's been going on there by our own crooks for years. An attempt to save our own political butts for criminal actions there by our PTB.

All of which seems patently obvious to everyone here and likely to everyone that we each know well. The trouble is that somehow we keep supporting the regime.

I have no clue how to change it or if it can be changed at all.

one thing I do know is that when I attend sporting events now and I hear the national anthem, it no longer makes my chest swell with pride.

If anything, It makes me feel angry for ever feeling proud given how messed up things have become in just my lifetime.

NASA isn’t likely to make any huge breakthroughs is my guess because it’s so difficult to commercialize any of it so it’s just interesting sink hole for our money.

can you all imagine what would happen if employers were not forced to withhold pay and be the governments unpaid tax collector?

if people actually had to file and pay end of year?

that would open peoples eyes to government waste pretty quickly I think.

Imagine a guy who makes 100k a year and his wife is a teacher makes 60k.

end of the year he writes a check for 50k.

Might make the ole DWFs ask more hard questions about government spending!

Oh well rant over

Read “whitey on the moon “ by Paul Kersey. It used to be on Amazon but somewhere during the covid scam they pulled it

"Paul" signed my copy! I've actually never read it. He seems like a stand-up guy and has made a career as an industrious (if not revelatory) writer.

The money spent on the Webb Telescope is but a tiny fraction of the trillions spent on the useless wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

And you are correct, the government sends many times more to Ukraine, so that Russians and Ukrainians can kill each other while (((Kerensky))) and (((Blinken))) gleefully smirk.

The first few photos are amazing. I've always had a strong curiosity about what's out there, and the Webb telescope is bringing the universe into much sharper focus. Scientific advancement is always worth the money.

That’s pretty cool. I’ve looked at his blog and his book on college football being the opiate of America was really interesting and then as COVID’s ridiculousness ramped up his work seems to be quietly memory holed.

anyone however who has lived in one of the few remaining non vibrant parts of a city who gets to see the effect of vibrancy will tend to agree with much of what he has to say.

The book looks very good, I'll order it from Amazon.

We went to the moon. This is a fact. Indisputable, except to those conspiracy theorists clinging to their belief some sinister plot was hatched by the U.S. Government to conceal our inability to navigate to earth's natural satellite. On July 20, 1969, man first stood on the moon; on December 18, 1972, man stood on the moon for the last time. What happened to end the dream of space exploration, left instead to the colorful imagination of Trekkies and science fiction fans believing some diverse band of humans could navigate the heavens in a Utopian future?

The US Government neutered NASA by forcing a much different mission upon the space agency: diversity and the promotion of blacks. We went to the moon. On multiple occasions. When NASA was nearly all-white, with an all-white astronaut team. But in 1972, the Apollo program was grounded, with the Space Shuttle program becoming a glorified experiment in social engineering and special interest group cheer-leading. Each successive launch included women, blacks, and other racial minorities, not for the sake of exploration, but for the sake of gender and racial equality. The glory of NASA and mankind's great moments in space exploration were all milestones performed under the watchful of an almost completely white NASA, devoid of the hindrance of affirmative action programs and the shackles of Equal Employment Opportunity mandates. The mandate then was to get the moon; the mandate soon after was the promotion of blackness and diversity, at the expense of the initial dream of exploring the stars.

'Whitey on the Moon': Race, Politics, and the death of the U.S. Space Program, 1958 - 1972 tells the shocking story of NASA's demise from an angle never-before told: the racial angle. Learn the story of Captain Ed Dwight, the black Air Force pilot the Kennedy Administration tried to force on NASA; learn about how General Curtis LeMay and Lt. Colonel Chuck Yeager demanded accountability and stood against what the latter deemed "reverse racism" in how the Kennedy Administration forced a black astronaut candidate on NASA just for the sake of having a black astronaut candidate. Learn about the "Poor People's Campaign" (led by Rev. Ralph Abernathy), which protested the launch of Apollo 11 on July 16th, 1969, by showing up with a horse and buggy. Rev. Abernathy demanded the money going to Apollo and space exploration be redistributed to fight poverty and starvation in America's inner cities... And his vision won out. The final chapters of the book deal not with the exploration and colonization of new worlds, but the redistributing of wealth to pay for EBT/SNAP Food Stamps cards and other welfare payouts.

We could have been on Mars, but we had to fund Black-Run American instead.
