let's just hope that Campbell does his job and feeds Zach Miller over 70 balls. that's all he was good for in Washington, throwing it to Cooley.

I remember that JaFarcus had a horrible first FULL year starting in 2008. I only watched him in one college game (his nice Sugar Bowl performance against Notre Dame- as I was just starting to get into college football) so at the beginning of last year, I was willing to wait the first half of the season and see if he had any improvement from his lousy 1st one 1/2 years as the starter since a white 1st round QB would also get more time than that. JaFarcus was so bad in 2009, that it shows that even a black QB can be yanked in the same amount of time as a white QB, if his deficiencies are that strikingly obvious.

Yes Riggins, but they only let go of Russell because they have another black saviour starting QB Cambell to take his spot. I was never convinced that they would actually start the season with journeyman Bruce Gradowski as their starter even though I think he did a pretty good job considering what he had to work with.

And the Redskins traded for McNabb to make it easy for them to jettison Campbell for practically no value.

Yes, good point Guest301. It is tough for the PTB to allow a black QB to be replaced with a white one- even when the black QB sucks (Jafarcus Hussle) and the white one is very solid and a young athletic QB with upside to boot (Bruce Gradkowski).

Not certain if Campbell (he's very solid most of the time) or Gradkowski would do better for the Raiders next season. However, if I had to put money on it, I would say that if a QB competition is opened up- Gradkowski wins a close race in a fair world and would be Oakland's best bet, but that would just be too "racist" to reduce the number of black black quarterbacks further.

Replacing Russell with Campbell still gives the PTB one less starting black quarterback for this upcoming season. What will they do? I suspect start another black scrub such as Seneca Wallace.

And the Vikings needed a legend like Brett Favre to replace Tavaris Jackson and even then there were black Vikings who were grumbling about it.

Well it just goes to show you the racism of these affletes. They hate when a white man takes a roster spot or starting spot from another bruthah.

Let this be a lesson to all GM's and coaches who get black quarterbacks: once you go black, you can't go back. Now, Jacksonville is stuck with mediocrity from Leftwich to Garrard; Tampa has had to shuffle in one black quarterback after another; Campbell for Russell; McNabb for Campbell...Tennessee better get a black backup for VY.

...True indeed. Not only would they rather "look good" & be on the ESPN SportCenter highlights than win, but they'd rather their "affletes" get reps than win (with a White player).

I don't know- Bubble Butt did look good for LSU against Notre Dame in the Bowl game I saw, but maybe Jamarcus can't cut it in the NFL...

LSU versus Notre Dame in that Sugar Bowl was such a mismatch that DuhMarcus was merely the recipient. NFL is not about chucking the ball up to wide-open receivers who blow by their defenders. Russell is a thrower, but not a passer. He is lost when he has to think quickly. His lack of true QB talent is compounded by his flaky character.

NFL Scout / Fox NFL Analyst Chris Landry warned teams away from DuhMarcus Russell. The Raiders will pay for a long time because they did not listen.

Right on the money.

I saw that game in person, LSU overmatched Notre Dame the same with the year before against Miami who we won with Matt Flynn replacing the injured Jamarcass.

Flynn should have been the starter that year we played ND. He only went on to win us the National Championship the next year. Les Miles' hat must create a reflection because all he sees is black quarterbacks. Sticking with Jordan Jefferson, Russel Sheppard.

i stumbled across this column mocking and completely blasting JaLardass today, and i thought i'd share it. here are a couple ofexcerpts:

He continued his show of excellence by falling asleep at team meetings or just skipping them to go to Vegas, while performing at a record-breaking level of terrible on the field.

...

"I think I did all right. ... I try to play with no regrets."
It takes a lot of confidence, or denial, or whatever, to say that after the home crowd has been chanting "JaMarcus sucks," the entire game.
it has some hilarious graphics at the link, as well.

That article's a hoot. I especially enjoyed what "talent evaluation experts" McShay
smiley8.gif
and Kiper
smiley8.gif
had to say about DuhMarcus:

"John Elway like."-- Kiper
"I can't remember being in such awe of a quarterback in my decade of attending combines and pro days." - McShay

That article Jimmy posted is tremendously degrading (complete with mocking graphics, idiotic Jamarcus quotes, etc)"¦it's incredibly rare to see any non-white person being treated in such a way. I didn't know that sort of thing was still legal. Very refreshing, indeed.

Russell stated recently that he will refuse any offers from the CFL or Arena leagues...there's only one problem, there are no offers.

Raiders file grievance against Russell

By Jason Cole, Yahoo! Sports

Russell was benched for most of the second half of last season.

(Kirby Lee/US Presswire)
The Oakland Raiders have filed a grievance against former quarterback JaMarcus Russell(notes) seeking repayment of $9.55 million, the team confirmed Thursday.

The grievance is based on the contention by the Raiders that the contract was changed at one point during Russell's three-year stint with the organization and that he's not allowed to keep all of the money he had collected prior to his May 7 release. Russell, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2007 NFL draft, was guaranteed $32 million as part of a six-year contract reportedly worth $68 million.

Russell hasn't awakened from bad dream May 27, 2010 Period of silence for Russell May 21, 2010 "We have filed a grievance against JaMarcus Russell and that's all we're going to say at this time,"Â￾ Raiders attorney Jeff Birren said.

Part of the guaranteed $32 million was originally in the form of salary advances for the 2010, 2011 and 2012 seasons. A portion of those salaries is in question, according to the grievance.

"The money in question was fully guaranteed. That is why JaMarcus was forced to hold out and miss all of training camp as a rookie,"Â￾ said Eric Metz, one of Russell's two agents. "The Raiders know that and this is our only comment."Â￾

Russell will be represented in the grievance by the NFL Players

Even if it's only $22.45 million instead of $32 million, that is enough "soft earned" money that any reasonable person would be more than set for life. I have my doubts with "Jaba"rcus the Hut, Hut, Hike...uh, I mean Jamarcus though. I predict he'll file for bankruptcy from multimillion dollars worth of trips to the doughnut shop and doughnut party trips to Vegas with his stripper girlfriends in his Rolls Royce limos! Don't worry the girls will be forbidden to touch his doh!nuts I mean duhnuts... uh I mean doughnuts, but will have free access to his cash flow, that almost anyone deserves more for their real WORK (in this tough economy). Maybe he'll get arrested by the Environmental Protection agency for buying endangered leopard furs for these "classy" girls...Doh!

I love how that idiot of Bleacher Report, Keilyn Ellis, claims racism is holding Russell down. I guess racism is responsible for him eating like a pig and coming into training camp at over 300 lbs. That would be a good weight if you are an offensive linemen but for a quarterback that's at least 50 lbs too many.
