This is Plummer's worst year so far - since his arrival in Denver, that is. His completion percentage is around 55%, he has 11 TD for 12 INT, and a quarterback rating around 70.

What's interesting is this performance is only marginally worse than some of the more *ahem* heralded quarterbacks in the league (Cf. Mike Vick) but Plummer is the only one in danger of losing his job.

haha, at least Plummer's backup isn't blck, so it really must be about his performance.

it's like they said, they know they can keep winning with Jake at the helm but they also know they're not gonna win the big one.

and yes, Vick should be in a public eye as well... Schaub would be an upgrade for lackluster Falcons.

Backrow;

I mentioned in the Kircus file that KC should be going after him and Matt Jones, since neither of their teams care about them. However; if I were Carl Peterson, I would be camping in Atlanta to drag Schaub to KC. He is just sitting there in Atlanta collecting dust (who has a "starting" quarterback who is miserable.)

Plummer was not exactly a study in great stats with Arizona -- 90 TD passes to 114 picks, never a QB rating above 80.0 -- yet the media loved the guy.

Then his first three years with Denver he puts up very respectable numbers and leads the team back among the elite teams in the AFC, then struggles a bit this year and all his former admirers have suddenly formed a pack of wolves ready to consign him to the trash heap, evenas the Broncos continue to win.

Plummer's downturn in production this year can be attributed to a much more conservative offensive scheme, plus a weaker running game. Plummer's at his best when he can move around and improvise. Mike Shanahan now wants him to be a mistake-free manager of low-scoring games dominated by the Broncos defense, so it's hardly a surprise he's struggling some, yet the team does continue to win. A Super Bowl contender turning to a raw rookie two-thirds of the way through the regular season is pretty rare, but it's the way Plummer has suddenly been unanimously dumped on by the Caste System media compared to his former status as its favorite white player that intrigues me.

Watch out for Cutler though. Word is this guy has unreal potential. As for Plummer maybe another team better suited for his style?

Don, i especially noted two things from that article. the first:
That meant ... getting his body back to the condition it was before he entered the NFL. His last year in Denver, 2006, he weighed 215 and felt heavy. Now he's down to 193 and can dunk a basketball, which he used to do in high school. "At the end of my football career, I could hardly touch the rim," he said. "I just got caught up in all that stuff about bulking up, but I never felt it was necessary and I never felt it made me a better player."

this flies in the face of all the nonsense the media feeds us about how the NFL is filled with phenomenally explosive athletes who are in incredible physical condition. according to Plummer himself, he was a better athlete BEFORE he bought into the NFL's training regimen.

now, secondly:
His brother Brett told him the other day: "Can you believe it? We've got a black president, and the Cardinals are in the Super Bowl. Miracles do happen."

i'm thinking Jake Plummer didn't return to his home state of Idaho because he is so enamored with the condition of black America. if you catch my meaning.

Plummer has all the money he'll ever need and can live anywhere in the world he wants to, but he chooses to live in one of the whitest places in the country.

he is a man who was surrounded by Obama's kind of America for his entire professional career, and all he wants to do is stay away from it.

to my way of thinking, it doesn't get much plainer than that.

Nice observations, JC. I always got the impression that Plummer didn't like the NFL's "culture." He also took ahuge amount of grief from DWFs and the media. I admire him for retiring young and pursuing happiness to the beat of his own drummer.

I agree that bulking up isn't always necessary, but any RB who is 5'11 172 lbs. like Patrick Foley discussed in another thread will get knocked back harder when hit at that weight. It doesn't matter what race he is the coaches would want him to add at least 15 lbs to his lower and upper body in muscle.

As far as a QB; it is less necessary, because they aren't muscling the ball up the middle as much against 300 lbs Lineman. You just can't be a stick-like figure that's all.

There might be a some rare black people in some places in Idaho, but they wouldn't be associated with gangs. They'd be more like some of the Canadian blacks I lived near in the Toronto area. Less Cohesive and more open minded toward white people.

What's to do for a black man in Idaho. Farm? Pick Potatoes? Horseback ride? Ski? We all know blacks usually aren't fond of skiing or the Winter Olympics; it's like a Republican National convention to them.

Hey if I had my way I'd move to Utah or back to Canada right now! As is I'm probably going back to Canada this summer! Canada is actually going through a mild conservative shift right now; while the U.S is shifting liberal.

I always liked Plummer too. Like Don said, he was always quiet and didnt really seem to enjoy himself. Especially with Denver, where hejust looked plain sad on the field.

I watched many games when he was with the super-afro Cards, and he took the blame for everything that could possibly be pinned on him. It wasnt much better with the Broncos, as they always underachieved come playoff time.

Plummer was never an elite QB, but when the best WRhe everplayed with was Rob Smith, how could he be? He breifly played with Kevin Kasper, with an emphasis on "breifly."

I'm glad he's happy in retirement spending their dirty, caste-sponsored money.Edited by: Thrashen
