At the nationally televised Boston Boost Games, Gavin Schurr was one of 5 high school runners selected to compete in the HS Boys' Dream 100m.

He came 2nd by just 5/1000th of a second!
I would have liked to see him win, but a very impressive showing nonetheless. He beat some big name high school sprinters.
His time was 10.450 into a negative wind (-1.2w).

Gavin Schurr is the real deal. No one can deny it. Great performance at the highest level. He showed his true class. The interview I posted with him earlier in this thread told me all I need to know about
him. He reminds me a little of Boling with his confidence and swagger. I see Devin Quinn, John Teeters like ability at the minimum but most likely he will eventually be above their level. Yes I know it's
alot to predict but he was talking about how he would love to compete at the US Olympic Trials. I love his confidence. Gavin Schurr fears nothing. Gonna be exciting to watch him in college next year! I wonder
what school he will end up at? If anyone finds a video of todays race please post it.

you’re absolutely correct! practically all i've heard about this spring/early summer is Jaylen Slade. well, Mr. Schurr defeated him, albeit in a very close finish. Gavin should certainly be getting more acclaim than he is, but hopefully this just fuels him to greater heights in his future.

Actually a few weeks ago, Gavin Schurr ran in a pro race in California, which included the world's #1 sprinter, Trayvon Bromell among others.
He finished last, in a very good time of 10.40. But what a great experience for a young, high school sprinter!

I think Schurr will continue to be successful at university (as far as I know he hasn't committed yet). Like Boling, he is very interested and dedicated to the sport, and focused on getting the most out of his potential.
However,physically, he reminds of John Teeter. Both are very powerfully built.
Looking forward to more from him.

Schurr actually didn’t come in last, but the rest of your post sounds spot on to me. below, please find video of the aforementioned race. Schurr looks very comfortable amongst the big boys.

i’ve posted several times about the Arkansas Meet of Champions for high school (which i enjoy attending), but it slipped up on me this year and occurred a couple weeks ago. that being said, White athletes took second (Patrick Elliot - 11th grade - 10.86) and fourth (Carter McElhany - 10th grade - 10.89) overall in the 100m. McElhany, just a sophomore, won his heat as seen below. one wonders if he has any of “dat upside.

Since he's only a sophomore, it seems that he does!
I hope he will win the State Championship next year or his senior year . . . or both years!

Considering he is just under 2 years younger than Jakob Ingebritsen whose best at that age was 3.36 and change, he is dong very well. he is one to keep an eye on.

WOW!!! what an impressive athlete! thanks for sharing that info. and to think, according to the report, she’ll be foregoing track in college to play exclusively volleyball. such a talent!

she could probably also have a successful non-athletic career post-college as a life coach with her obviously-top-notch time management and goal-setting skills.

Maybe someone to keep an eye on . . . Tyler Colwell is a junior and just ran the fastest Illinois high school time of the year - 10.48 (2.8w).
He also ran a wind legal, 22.00 in the 200m.

Paige Floriea...at the start of the 400m you can hear a black guy commenting on the "white girl" lol so typical.

I don't know of this young lady Roisin Willis (16)has been mentioned here before but I am quite impressed with her race and her determination. Qualifies for Olympic Trials with a 2.00.78 8oom. Impressive.

Japanese high schooler Hiroki Yanagida, ran 10.22 in the semi finals of Japanese Championships.
It's the 2nd fastest time ever by a Japanese high schooler.

He false started in the state 100 meter final or would have been at least top 3. He got 2nd in the 200 meters, and should easily win that next year as the guy who won the 100, 200 and 400 was a senior and top notch.
He is coming off hip surgery, so its hard to imagine how much better he will be in a year.

Having that been said, he is a little. I don't mean just kind of small. This kids like 5 foot 6 inches maybe slightly taller and being generous with 125-135 lbs. He’s small for a distance runner. Might be better suited for the 400 or 800. At any rate, he can fly. The 2A champ was white, the 1A top runner got hurt or there could have been a clean sweep. Aidan Laughery ( the highly recruited RB) will be back next year in 1A but has to hold off a tough upsider freshman who won all his events.

Roisin Willis of Wisconsin set a National HS Record in the indoor 800m - 2:00:06.
Very close to breaking the 2 minute barrier - and she's in high school!

She just won the Nike Indoor National Championships 200m . . . . and she's a sophomore!
Her time of 23.44 is US #1, and #9 all-time

Wow is she an amazing sprinter already. So she's a sophmore in high school and already has her sites set on the 2024 Olympics. Such ambition and so much talent! I really
enjoyed the article. Especially how kind and loving she is to the homeless. What a superstar in the making. Thank you jacknyc.
