I knew Gehret won the 400 in a very close race. Congrats to him on the national title. Kyle Plante is very talented and she is very attractive as well. I hope she continues to improve. Never heard of Drabik until today. Nice finish for him. Thanks for the update sunshine. It's great to see you posting again.

A long jump of 25 feet and 1/2 inch is incredible for a high school kid. He is in the number 2 position in the US. Way to go! Headed to Rutgers. Thanks for posting this.Edited by: white lightning

0 CommentsHASBROUCK HEIGHTS â€" Indian Hills' Corey Crawford came into the Aviator Relays on Friday with the words of his coach in his ears.
"I knew I definitely had a chance," Crawford said. "We haven't been coming to this meet the last couple years and my coach wanted to give me a chance to break Darius Pemberton's record [of 24 feet, 11 1/2 inches in the long jump]."
Crawford did just that, setting a Bergen County record with a jump of 25- 1/2 to help Indian Hills' long jump relay set a meet record with a total of 63 feet.
The Rutgers-bound senior spent his first two years of high school on a baseball diamond and didn't come out for the track team until his junior year.
His previous best jump outdoors was 23-7.
"I was just trying to get on the board," Crawford said. "I'd run the 4-x-200 before so I was nice and warm. I came back, and next thing I know, he's reading that 25- 1/2 and I'm going nuts. I knew I hit it right away and I had a little wind at my back."
With the record already in hand, Crawford now can jump the rest of the season with team goals and personal improvement as his primary motivation.
Crawford is looking for the national lead in the long jump, as he sits a half inch behind the leader in the event. Nevertheless, his season can be seen as a major success from here on out. He's college-bound, record-seeking and record-breaking. And he's just getting started.
"I can just relax," Crawford said. "I've got nothing to lose."
Crawford set the biggest record on a night that saw plenty of meet records drop as Hasbrouck Heights (50.5) edged out Ramsey, Verona and Benedictine, which all tied for second with 49 points, on the girls side, and Ramsey (84.5) pulled out a win on the boys side over second-place Heights (78).
Twelve meet records were set including Ramsey's girls breaking their own record in the 3-x-400 intermediate hurdles they set last year (3:41.3) with a time of 3:34.8.
Heights' girls extended their meet winning streak to three even though they were out of the top three heading into their win in the 4-x-400.
"We are really happy with a win in this meet because there are a lot of good teams from the area like Ramsey, Indian Hills and Mahwah," Heights coach Rob Brady said.
"We're just really happy with the way our girls performed."
Ramsey's boys had Heights and Indian Hills on their tail the entire meet but were able to secure their second consecutive meet win behind performances by their jumpers, hurdlers and distance runners.
"I thought we were really strong," Ramsey coach Matt Wynne said
"We put different kids in different events to try to mix and match to get ready for the [Bergen] County relays."

Brady Gehret's outdoor season has finally started. As usual, he won the long jump, 200, 400, and 4x400 relay in a recent 8 school meet. I guess the meet wasn't big enough for the national list maker, but his time in the 400, 47.43, was good enough that it should be #2 on the national list.

His team is way, way back, and he has 2 laps/4turns of a 200m track to catch the cluster of runners in the lead. You may want to turn the sound low on your computer as he drives the crowd crazy!

On a side note look for big things from Illinois defending state champ in the 100, Colin Hepburn. He had a good indoor season, winning the 55m best times meet in Illinois during the indoor season with a time of 6.34 second fastest in the U.S. this yr. He claims he wants to double this yr and win the 200 too. Says he's been working on both his endurance and starts.
Good find. Prompted by your post, I looked him up. He's already represented the US at the international level, and he'll be running for Stanford in college. He looks to be better in the 100 than the 200, but I'd still like to see him in a 200 showdown with Gehret.
Our bright hopes in the 400 were both in action today, running anchor legs on 4 X 400 relays. Gehret ran for Altoona, Farmer for St. Anthony's. By the time they got the batons, their teams were both 100 yards or more behind. However, Gehret's split time, 46.1, was the best in the event, and Farmer's, 46.7, was third best. They were competing against high schools from Jamaica, Bahamas, California, DC, etc. in that heat. Too bad they couldn't have been on the same team.

Neil Braddy led Fort Smith Southside to the Arkansas 7A State track championship. At 5'11", 140lbs, Neil won the 100M (10.57), 200M (21.78), 400M (50.07), and Long Jump (23'4.5"). He also finished fourth in the High Jump at 6'2".
That's a good mix of performances at Arkansas's highest level.

Sheesh! I hope someone offers him a scholarship! There's video online of him running an indoor 200 and an outdoor 400 (48.1), and he's phenomenal. Plus, no chance of peds--on his berecruited profile, it states he can only bench press 110. He looks like a junior high kid. The college that takes a chance on him will be richly rewarded as he matures and moves out to the 400 or 800 (yeah, I know, a lot of you guys hate to see sprinters go long, but, looking at the tape, he could really be something if he stretched out a little).

the fastest high school 100-meter sprinter in Washington state is Bobby Condon of Gonzaga Prep. he has a personal best of 10.54. he is only 5-8,and unless i'm mistaken he is just a junior. he's also adefensive backon the football team.

Mason Williams of Southlake Carroll High in Texas has one of the nation's elite 100-meter times with a personal best of 10.40. Williams, who was also a back-up cornerback for the football team is a senior and 6-0 tall. as an aside, Williams was kept on the bench by junior cornerback (who was also the sophomore district MVP) Shawn Hoagland. Hoagland has gotten much faster in the past year, leading me to believe he has a lot of room to keep speeding up. Hoagland's personal best in the 100 is a 10.9.

Texas high schools have a lot of speed, and several White kids are in the mix. if i'm not mistaken, another one is Cole Glasgow of Dallas Jesuit who has a personal best this year of 10.50.
Jacob Lady-Schreiber has qualified for the Texas State Meet in the 100m and 4x200m relay from San Antonio Johnson. He has run a 10.50, 10.55, and 10.59 100m this season. Here's a pic from his regional win. He is only a sophmore, so I am looking for big things in his future. Good luck to him in Austin.
