I think it is incredible how much boxing has fallen out of fashion and how clearly, in the past, when it was heavily promoted, it had been used as a tool of social engineering (i.e. to reinforce the idea of unquestionably dominant black strength and masculinity).
At the apex of this promotion, during the Ali years, it was clearly linked with the civil rights movement and seemed to be, in my opinion, deliberately used for political propaganda purposes. To the liberal media bosses it contained the perfect implied metaphor, blacks literally fighting their way to liberation (when of course this has never been the case with blacks in America. In every instance they have been granted rights and now privileges out of white pity and never truly winning them for themselves.) In the most primal way, by showing blacks physically dominate whites along with other blacks, it may have been one of the most effective appeals to men that blacks in fact deserved greater rights.
However much the media implies a lust on the part of whites for a "white hope" in boxing (and thereby eliminates this desire-making it appear pathetic and vindictive) this simply does not exist among white fans. There seems to be a very mild interest in a white American boxer that is even tepidly condoned (in some instances). Though this is perhaps because of the feeling that white American men are so psychologically demoralized, if able to achieve a token representation in boxing, they could nevertheless never really pose a threat to black dominance. But whites having a purely racial allegiance to a boxer as blacks clearly and rightfully have to their own boxers? Completely unacceptable.
The fear, in my opinion, is of a Max Schemling, a boxer, whatever his personal political views, who essentially represents an avatar or hero of his people. This already exists with the Klitschko Brothers though by the minimizing of boxing (once massively promoted when it was useful to liberals and multiculturalists) they have effectively censored the idea that white men can be physically dominant to blacks. Masters of demoralization they are! Though the K brothers do get coverage in Europe...
I personally, despite being an American, have no special interest in an American White Hope. Certainly I will root for all white athletes particularly in contests where they are pitted against non-whites (with no offense intended to the latter. I mean we are talking family here). And I will root for the individual white athlete when he is pitted against his kinsman if he is the one who shows the most promise for dominance. However, I admit to being attracted to the idea of Eastern Europeans being the dominant specimen. They seemed to represent the white man in an earlier, healthier, stronger form. It delivers an important lesson. That a harder existence produces a stronger man. Go K brothers.
