I don't think this venerable thread has ever had an Abba song, though I'm not about to go through 930 posts to check. They were a Swedish supergroup in the mid-70s to early '80s, selling close to 400 million records. Hard to imagine a pop group from Sweden hitting it big now, or any kind of Swedish group, unless one of the guys was a dark-skinned Muslim and one of the girls a transgender.

Even though I'm an ol' hard rock fan I loved Abba and even that Gerry Rafferty song. I thought the girls in Abba were beautiful and sang great. I concur that this stuff couldn't be successful today much less mega hits like when our nation still existed. And the bands actually played musical instruments back then... and sang without "pitch-correct". Wow, singing and playing real instruments. What a concept!!

In the Corona Virus chaos of the last week and change the death of Kenny Rogers was lost in the shuffle. Everybody knows his country ballad the Gambler but he also was the front man for a rock band in the late 60's through early 70's and had this hit.....

It's also in the sound track for this movie which is among the funniest comedies ever made IMO.......

The Canadian group Bachman-Turner Overdrive owned rock 'n roll in 1974 with their mega-hit album Not Fragile. Their songs epitomized the free living wide open horizons of the time, the last vestiges of the good things about the late 1960s that were closing fast and are now long forgotten in this prolonged era of fear-based mindless herd conformity and (mostly) soft authoritarianism.

I don't think we've ever had a Linkin Park video in this thread. Very talented group, a mix of White and Asian backgrounds, a bit of rap in some of their songs but mostly hard-driving rock. The lead singer Chester Bennington committed suicide in 2017 at the age of 41. He was sexually abused as a child, had drug and alcohol issues but also had a bunch of children that were left fatherless at the time of his death. Like so many White rock stars he had personal demons that got the best of him. This is one of their early songs, I can't remember ever hearing one of their songs that I didn't like.

Definitely a talented group and I tend to agree most everything they put out is high quality. Both Chester Bennington and Chris Cornell had created a nonprofit exposing pedophilia in Hollywood. Short time later both were dead by hanging. Both had drug issues but apparently were in good State of mind. Interesting that their deaths happened before Weinstein and Epstein scandals, is it all related? Who knows but that's enough with the conspiracy angle lol.

I've wondered if Trent Reznor is Jewish. He was brought up in rural Pennsylvania and he's never said he is, so he likely isn't though he can definitely "pass." His band Nine Inch Nails has produced some good songs, including this one:

Yep, definitely some curious aspects in regard to the alleged suicides of Bennington and Cornell. I recall that Chester's was more or less written off as being caused by depression over Cornell's, which sounds dubious to put it mildly.

Who knows how deep the rabbit hole goes on so much of this stuff? A lot of people think Kurt Cobain was murdered, perhaps by Courtney Love. The "Pizzagate" speculation was quite interesting but has since been deposited in the system's memory hole. The charges of rampant pedophilia among the ruling class go back at least to the days of Reagan and Bush Sr.
