Johnson is one of the few black fighters i respect.I like him,he's old school dos'nt brag or talk trash and he's as tough as they come and this could have been a very tough 'exposed' kind of fight for Groves but he won convincingly in the end but had to work for it.Groves looks like a choir boy with his ginger hair and fair skin but yet punches hard.Povetkin has that look too, many would just dismiss them based on their looks.

Completely agree I felt Johnson acted with class all throughout te fight and showed good humility.

Anyone watching this? Groves pulling the upset! But Frochy is coming on and Groves might be wilting. Two class white warriors.

Wow - Frochy wins by TKO but it was a VERY early stoppage. Groves up on all the cards when it was stopped.

Bad stoppage, if anything the stoppage was a worst result for Froch than Groves. Froch would still likely have won on points with the championship rounds and was a few more well placed shots from putting Groves away.

Still proud of Groves, the kid has a fire in him. I see big things for him in the future depending on how he reacts with this loss. Although I think Froch winning this fight is probably for the best as he matches better up against Ward.

I don't know how many of you have been following Froch these past few months but he's really been laying on the insults and foul comments about Groves. I've said in the past that I think Froch is an azzhole and my opinion hasn't changed. The way he talked about this fight -in which he had many advantages- Groves may as well have been a fifteen year old boy. Very unsportsmanlike chatter by azzhole.

Well go watch the fight for yourself and see if Groves is really as pathetic as Froch was saying. And now we see azzhole needed the ref's help to get the "win". Does anyone here think Froch could possibly fight at 175 against the likes of Beterbev or Kovalev? Pfft!

That was one of the worst stoppages I've ever seen. :mmph:

I feel bad for Groves, I had him way ahead in the fight at the time it was stopped.

Watching the undercard of the Pacman vs Rio fight. A white looking heavyweight named Ruiz Jr just made a affelet quit on his stool. The affelet before the fight started was displaying all kinds TNB, then after a couple of stinging jabs from Ruiz he was cured of TNB. LOL. This kid Ruiz has some talent, especially his great stinging jab. His physic make Arreola's look like Adonis though. Ruiz is now the NABF heavyweight champ. The main event is up in approx 65 mins.

Heartbreaking loss for Groves, but you know he looked amazing for 8 rounds and was giving Froch a boxing lesson. Groves is very young for a boxer and will bounce back!

I'm a supporter of both Froch and Groves, but here's a pic that gave me a good chuckle (particularly funny if you paid attention to the press conferences and interviews before the fight, Froch kept talking about his "international experience at the top-level" :) )

George Groves has signed a longterm contract with Germany-based Sauerland Event to promote his fights. This is excellent news, as Sauerland is very white-friendly, and arguably the most powerful promoter in all of Europe (though K2 and Eddie Hearn are also notable). I think this is a great decision by Groves that will move his career in the right direction. In the past, Sauerland has guided the careers of Art Abraham and Mikkel Kessler, who were some of boxing's most successful boxers in the mid and late 2000's. Groves joins David Price, another Brit promoted by Sauerland.

Froch will win the fight tomorrow, I have zero doubt, Groves is the better boxer there's no denying it, but Froch is a rugged, rough, brawler that always raises his game when the stakes are high, this fight undoubtedly means more to him than the Ward fight did. I like GG and think out of the two of them he is the best match up for Ward, but for this type of fight in this setting there's no way past Froch.

Also, I think some of you have really mislabeled Froch, he's as much of a humble, quiet, old school hard man as you can be in a modern day setting. I've read his autobiography and followed his career for a while now and I can slightly understand how people get the impression he's arrogant, especially since many only started taking notice late into the Groves Froch drama, Groves actually ran down Froch to earn himself a fight and Carl didn't take too kindly to it, do you really blame him? The truth is he's actually a very mellow genuinely decent guy possessing a harsh edge that can retaliate when challenged. If you watch the Bute press conferences you'll see the two did not have a bad word between them, Carl said in the 24/7 special that he would never trash Bute because he was such a genuinely nice bloke. I try to live my life by a similar philosophy, keep the peace with those that want it, but reserve more anger and hate than any potential adversary

Froch Round 5-7 KO.

Agreed. Froch is a bad matchup for Groves. I sense some quit in Groves (who is no doubt talented)and see Frochy making it easy this time.

I agree.

I think Groves would have a good chance against any other super middleweight, but Froch is a bad match-up for him.

What's Tony's picture doing on this thread? He knocked down Joe Louis in round three, and I like his commentary after that fight was over. He wasn't scared of nobody. I used to have friend on the same block where his bar used to be in Jersey City. Actually he looked a lot like Galento and was even crazier. Must be something in the air over there.

The boxing mobsters (starting with zio-President FDR and the Jewish governor of NY) used Max Schmeling's Jewish manager, Joe Jacobs (big bad "nazi" with old time Jewish manager, huh?) connection with Tony - he managed him too - as the excuse to keep him out of the arena for the Schmeling-Louis rematch so he wouldn't spot Louis' loaded gloves filled up with horse shoes or plaster of paris or brass knuckles or whatever he had in there.

Anyway, some guys here are picking Froch, so I pick Groves. What can we bet on the fight? I'll take even odds even though the bookies have Froch the favorite

Great comments from TBProdigy, Carcharias, and werewolf. You guys all bring up excellent points. I'm a supporter of both Froch and Groves, so I don't have a personal favourite between the 2. I just hope for a fair fight. I could see Groves outspeeding Froch, but I can also see Froch grinding out a TKO win. Hard to call. Really excited for this fight though! Promoter Eddie Hearn has said this is the biggest British fight since WW2. This is a massive fight. As for a prediction, I really dont know. May the best man win :)

They are expecting 80,000 at the area tonight to view this match up. I see Frochy handling Groves tonight, unless father time has decided to infiltrate Froch. Froch no doubt knows he was given the gift decision last time with the quick hook of Groves on a KO.

Some good undercard results.

Gavin Mcdonnell wins the WBA batamweight title stopping a Thai fighter and English lightweight Kevin Mitchell stopped unbeaten black Canadian Maduma in the 11th round. He supposedly gets a title shot now.

Groves 3 rounds up for me using his speed.Groves is very fast, elite hand speed but the late rounds favor the imensely tough Froch.
