Great win for George Groves in a close fight! He was very focused and determined.

DeGale has excellent technical skills, but seems to lack heart. I didn't like the way he resorted to unnecessary dirty tactics like deliberate headbutts, which caused those cuts to Groves today.

Excellent result from George Groves. I watched the fight live, and I actually scored the fight a draw. Nevertheless, I am happy George Groves won the fight.

Even though I scored the fight a draw, if I had to pick a winner, I would have said Groves was more appropriate. DeGale came on strong in the fight, and DeGale had his moments. But Groves won much of the early rounds, and had a great round 7 and 10. So I thought the fight slighlty favoured Groves.

This was a tremendous result and I am happy that fair judging was applied to this fight.

I am not surprised at this result, as a couple posts back I said I considered Groves a live opponent and that I was suspect of DeGale's boxing ability. What I said was proven true.

Great win for Groves, and this win will do wonders for his career. However I dont feel him or DeGale is ready for the top names at 168 yet. Groves is only 23 years old, I think he can use some soft touches for 1 or 2 years before challenging for a title by the time he is 25-26.

Also, one final point: DeGale was fighting a bit dirty and should have been penalized in this fight. He was warned for shouldering in round 2, he committed an elbow in round 3 (standard policy dictates he should have been penalized here, but was not), and threw a forearm in round 11.

Thats 3 fouls, 1 warning and no point deduction. Just saying, he should have been penalized.

Anyways, the right guy won and thats whats important!

Groves beats Sierra in six

George Groves defeated Mexican Francisco Sierra with a sixth round stoppage in their light heavyweight bout in San Jose, California.

Londoner Groves maintained his unbeaten record as he impressed on the undercard on the Robert Guerrero and Selcuk Aydin fight.
Groves did the damage with a combination of punches that floored Sierra in round six.
The Mexican was able to get up and took another combination before his corner threw in the towel.
Groves, the British & Commonwealth super-middleweight champion, suffered a cut to the side of his right eye but was not troubled by the injury as he dominated the contest.

Groves fighting the complete wrong fight, round 1 he threw the kitchen sink against Johnson. Also trying to stand toe to toe which is not his strong suit.

Bad tactics by Adam Booth

Wouldn't be surprised if he gasses.

Glad to see he won and Glen Johnson makes most fighters look bad, but I think this is a wake up call that he isn't world class. I think Froch would Knock him out in the first few rounds

George Groves is coming along very well, I can see improvements over the past year.

He's young. It would be best to put him in with several more journeymen like Johnson during the next year, and then have him go for a belt when he's age 25.

Johnson is one of the few black fighters i respect.I like him,he's old school dos'nt brag or talk trash and he's as tough as they come and this could have been a very tough 'exposed' kind of fight for Groves but he won convincingly in the end but had to work for it.Groves looks like a choir boy with his ginger hair and fair skin but yet punches hard.Povetkin has that look too, many would just dismiss them based on their looks.

Beating a solid seasoned pro like Johnson is a useful victory for George. A victory over Glenn Johnson is becoming a right of passage for up and comers who want to reach a certain level.
