The only Amerikan fighter ranked in the top 10 of middleweights is Kid Cocoa Quillin. GGG would put the same finish on the affelet that Ishida suffered. Interestingly, in the other glamour division, Heavyweight. There is only one black ranked in the top ten as well. Tony Thompson at No. 10.I just watched it. Wow. That was a beat down. Triple G can really hurt a guy. I'd like to see him put some of that on some of the USA's finest.
The promoter was Rodney Berman and the team that broadcasted the fight was a salt and pepper team from South Africa. I felt like I was watching a speaking version of the Gods Must be Crazy without the tribal calls. Also they only used the basic camera angles. Maybe you saw a different broadcast? Why do you say South Africa? The (excellent) referee was South African, but the fight was broadcast from the Principality of Monaco.

What's Golovkin doing back on the ham and egg circuit? He's had a couple fights on HBO or Showtime (I forget which). What scatterbrain is managing him? He should only be fighting names now.
Maybe he likes to travel?
I'd like to see Golovkin fight Quillin next, then Martinez.
Macklin will give a good account of himself if he fights GGG. But I suspect the outcome will be similar to when he fought Sergio Martinez, but only quicker and more brutal. Triple G is no joke and he is the goods. But if they pay Macklin enough a well placed punch with proper leverage can bail out any good fighter, which Macklin is.
I believe this is the 2nd time I have called a fight almost to a tee at CF. The the 1st time was when Kesseler KO'd Alan Green.Macklin will give a good account of himself if he fights GGG. Golovkin is everything most fight fans want -- a smiling, affable people person outside of the ring who is a pure destroyer, with skills, inside it. That reputation will continue to grow after this absolutely sensational performance against Macklin, whom he cut down with one of the great one-punch body-shot knockouts in recent boxing history to retain his world title for the eighth time. Even in light of those defenses, Macklin was supposed to be Golovkin's stiffest test. Let's be honest: For all of the acclaim Golovkin has received in the past couple of years and for all of the exciting knockouts he had registered, his résumé was pretty thin. Macklin was the first legitimate middleweight contender whom Golovkin would face. Macklin, after all, is a longtime contender who deserved to win a world title in 2011 but was ripped off in Germany on a split decision against house fighter Felix Sturm. In 2012, Macklin dropped Sergio Martinez and was about even with him for most of the fight until Martinez stopped him in the 11th round. Macklin didn't win those bouts, but he gained huge respect and credibility. But Golovkin, who admitted afterwaard that it was one of his easiest fights, just crushed him. Sometimes you're the windshield and sometimes you're the bug. On this night, with Golovkin overpowering him from the outset, Macklin was the bug. Golovkin rattled Macklin, who actually looked a bit scared -- a la Frank Bruno against Mike Tyson -- in the first round with right hands. Golovkin opened a bad cut over Macklin's left eye in the second round and then finished him suddenly in the third. Golovkin threw a right uppercut and followed with a pinpoint left hook to the liver that connected flush. Macklin immediately dropped to the canvas in agony and was writhing on the mat as referee Eddie Cotton counted him out at 1 minute, 22 seconds. Macklin was down for a few minutes, giving Golovkin a body-shot knockout that will take its place in the pantheon of similar finishes -- such as Bernard Hopkins' KO of Oscar De La Hoya and Roy Jones' rib-cruncher against Virgil Hill. Even Lou DiBella, Macklin's promoter, who had knocked Golovkin for his competition before the fight, was utterly impressed and said it was possibly the hardest body blow he has seen in some 25 years in boxing. Golovkin, 31, who is from Kazakhstan and lives in Germany (but trains in the United States and is in the process of securing a green card), raised his knockout percentage to 88.9 percent, the best among active titleholders. The Macklin KO was his 14th in a row; Golovkin has now stopped every one of his opponents since winning an eight-round decision in Denmark in 2008. Macklin said Golovkin is the best opponent he has ever faced, and after this performance Golovkin, arguably the world's best 160-pounder, is going to have an even harder time finding quality opponents -- even with the strong backing of HBO, which means A-level money for opponents. Golovkin is now 3-0 this year and plans to fight twice more in 2013, perhaps as soon as August. The biggest issue, however, is who will fight him. Whomever takes on the difficult assignment, Golovkin has showed himself to be must-see TV. |
Golovkin would absolutely clean house on mayweather or broner or really anyone below 160. But none of those guys would even dare to step in the ring with him, and with good reason since he is a much bigger guy. He has a god given gift in punching power. Just my opinion, he's here to stay for a long long time. At some point I'd like to see him destroy the over hyped dirrell.Macklin was looking mean & crazy during the stare down just before the fight...while Golovkin seemed relaxed. Macklin came to fight...but it took him just about 30 seconds into the 1st Round to realize he was being stalked by a superior fighter. Golovkin is the modern-day Hand's of Stone! The sky is the limit! Wish he and Mayweather where in the same class...he would never have experienced power like that oF GGG!
This, Gayfeather prudently chooses his opponents. He either wants guys who aren't in their primes and raw like Canelo or shot and on the downside like Mosley. Gayfeather knows he would get dusted within 6 rounds.Golovkin would absolutely clean house on mayweather or broner or really anyone below 160. His name "Golovkin" is a Russian surname and he's a Christian.
He used to attend the same church in Las Vegas as his friend Sam Peter. I noticed he worked Sam's corner for Peter-Wlad II.
He appears to be 3/4 white and about 1/4 Kazakh.
He was born in Karaganda. In the 1930s up to 70% of the city's inhabitants were ethnic Germans, but they were killed or sent to Siberian labor camps by the Bolsheviks.
Why quote such an old post of mine, JAB5239? His ancestry wasn't well-known at that time.If you have done any research you would know he is half Korean + half Russian?

Last year there was an article stating that he is half-Korean and half-Russian.
In a recent interview Gennady said his mother is half-Korean & half-Russian, and his father is Russian. So he's 1/4 Asian and 3/4 white.
If you followed boxing more closely instead of spending all your time promoting hatred against European boxers, you would have heard the interview.
What's more important is that he's an exciting and talented boxer who is not afraid to fight in any country (he's had title fights in Panama, Germany, US etc and he says he'll go to the UK to fight Murray), not a runner who never fights away from home like Floyd Mayweather or a boring, feather-fisted headbutting fraud like Andre Ward.
He's fighting an American negro named Curtis Stevens on Nov 2.anyone know when this monster is fighting again?
