Something was odd.. did they really "need" to stop the fight when they did? I don't know, man.

Nunez got up slowly and you can see in his body language that he was in bad shape, so I'm not going to second-guess the referee on this one. He looked into Nunez' eyes and saw he wasn't fully conscious.

Also it should be noted that the "unbeatable" Chad Dawson lost last night to Jean Pascal. I was rooting for Pascal in this fight since Dawson was undefeated. Quite a few white fighters at light heavy could beat Pascal.

Yeah, Pascal looks beatable. He would lunge in, throw a few punches, and then rest. Dawson fights in spurts, too, so that benefited Pascal. He would have a rough time fighting someone who could apply steady pressure, make him work for all three minutes of every round. Or someone who can simply counter those attacks.

Froch beat Pascal as we all remember. That was back in December of 2008. Froch is the only fighter to beat Pascal. Golovkin could also move up in weight and challenge Pascal for the title.

Dawson looked like he was anchored in cement. So much for the speed he was alleged to have. Also the super fight where he would expose Joe Calzaghe was also written by the same script writers.....

Even an old JC would've easily beaten Dawson. I'm glad CD lost just to shut up all of those DWFs and racist minorities that were posting that JC was "ducking" Dawson...

Yep. Another great black dope was exposed yesterday by Pascal. Froch won the fight with Pascal pretty convincingly and as we all know Froch isn't even close to our best fighter. I'm thinking any Brahmer, Nathan Cleverly, or Zsolt Erdei could easily beat Dawson.

Gennady will defend his WBA Middleweight title tomorrow in Kazakhstan. His opponent will be negro Colombian Nilson Tapia 14-2-1(10).

Kassim Ouma has a hard chin, he took a tremendous amount of punishment from Gennady Golovkin tonight.

Gennady was the first to stop the durable, awkward Ouma since Kassim was an inexperienced youth. The African has gone the distance with Martirosyan, Taylor, Rubio and other good fighters.

from fightnews:

GOLOVKIN STOPS OUMA

Unbeaten WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (21-0, 18 KOs) scored a tenth round TKO over a game, but outgunned former IBF champion Kassim Ouma (27-8-1, 17 KOs)in the first of two WBA world title bouts on Friday night at the Roberto Duran Arena in Panama City, Panama. Ouma was very active with trademark high punch rate, but Golovkin's pressure and harder punches took their toll midway through the fight. Doctors took a long look at Ouma after round eight. Golovkin punished Ouma in a one-sided round nine. The beatdown continued in round ten and the bout was finally waved off. Time was 1:25.

Gennady Golovkin looked great in this win. I was a bit concerned with Gennady's previous fights, because they had all been ending in rounds 1, 2, or 3.

With this fight Gennady has gone 10 rounds, and gained some nice experience. This is the type of fight which will make Gennady a better fighter moving forward.

Its also a "name" win for him, in that Ouma is a former champion and has been in with guys like Jermain Taylor, and Roman Karmazin.

Great TKO win for Gennady and in all honesty, he's got to be the #1 or #2 guy at middleweight.

Would love to see Gennady KO Hassan N'Jikam.

Overall it was a good performance. He showed power, resolve, and great stamina. I'm not sure why he camped out on the inside, where Oumma did his best work. It reminded me of Zbik against Chavez. Why not move your feet and clinch on the inside?

Golovkin is under-sized. His trainer says he can make 154. If that's really true, he should consider it. He could be incredible at 154. But he absolutely should not fight above 160, not at this point anyway.

Good win for Golovkin, but he should fight at 154 lbs. Also, anyone truely believes that he is the number one fighter at middleweight has had one too many Guinneses or is Golovkin's promoter on CF.

160 isn't a great division anyway. Although Sturm isn't a big guy either, so that could be a possibility for him at 160. (Sturm's career has been stuck in the mud for so long. I wouldn't mind a hungry, ambitious white fighter taking his place in the middleweight division.) Otherwise, fights at 154 against guys like Alvarez, Martirosyan, Dzinziruk, Williams, etc., would be good options, if they're willing to fight him anyway. But I guess as long as he doesn't mess with Martinez, he can fight in either division. But definitely not 168.

Yeah, we all know Sergio is the top dog at 160. There's no disputing that!

Ive been following boxing as a diehard fan for over 10 years. I'd say Golovkin is definitely a top2 player at middleweight. I'd favour Golovkin over Sturm, Geale, N'Jikam, and Pirog. Martinez/Golovkin, in my opinion, is a 50-50 fight.

Ive always felt Paul Williams (Black American boxer) was vastly overrated so I dont put so much stock in Martinez' win over him. I think in another year or so, Golovkin will probably surpass Martinez.

Golovkin is a tremendous talent and truly, to boxing insiders, he is arguably the best middleweight in the World.

People forget that Martinez only started boxing when he was 22 years old, and he's now 36. Golovkin started boxing as a boy, has over 150 Amateur bouts, 20odd pro bouts, and has beaten amateur boxers like Lucian Bute, Matt Korobov, Andre Dirrell etc. So, in fact Golovkin is both the younger and more experienced fighter.

So I think right now, Golovkin is certainly a top2 guy at middleweight, and arguably top1 guy in terms of talent. I doubt Lou DiBella would ever allow Martinez to fight Golovkin. Golovkin is a high-risk, low-reward fight for Martinez.

That was a great check left hook by Golovkin. Universim has turned into a pathetic promotional firm, if you can still call them that. It looked like about 2 dozen people in attendence. Hopefully with K2 he will be promoted as his talent demands. I hope to see him in fights with Martinez and Strum and Chavez. I suspect no chance in hell with Strum or Chavez.
