Green is as good as gone after this season.
James was already noticeably slower two years ago. He never really recovered what speed he had after tearing his ACL early on in his career. Peyton Manning and Indianapolis' (mostly white) offensive line made James effective. On just about any other team he would have been an average back at best with his slow, plodding style.  Arizona should have invested that money in its offensive line and defense.ÂÂ
Even slower than James is Corey Dillon these days.  Dillon broke into the open for a 51 yard gain a few games ago, which had to be the slowest 51 yard gain in NFL history. One writer said it looked like Dillon "was running with a piano on his back."ÂÂ
A local wag wrote of the Steelers Najeh Davenport today, "If he ever scores on a long run, will he reach the endzone on Sunday or Monday?"ÂÂ
But ask these same writers why every single running back is black, even all the backups, and the first word they'll utter is "speed." <!-- Message ''"" --><!-- Message ''"" -->
