This event is still a ways off (July 19th), but Affliction looks to be putting together one hell of a card. They're snatching up top heavyweights like nobody's business. I am really looking forward to this one, this could finally be the beginning of a legit challenger to the UFC.

So far the notable fights that are planned include:

Fedor Emelianenko vs. Tim Sylvia
Josh Barnett vs. Pedro Rizzo
Ben Rothwell vs. Andrei Arlovski (rumored)
Matt Lindland vs. Fabio Negao
Renato "Babalu" Sobral vs. Mike Whitehead
Aleksander Emelianenko vs. Paul Buentello

Pretty stacked and supposedly the Aleks fight will be shown for free along with the rest of the prelims on FSN. The main card will be PPV.

You can do a lot with $60 T-shirts I guess, lol.

I am looking forward to this card as well. I wonder if they will be able to sustain these types of match-ups in the future, though. They seem to have pretty much everybody on their roster fighting the same night, lol.

I will watch EliteXC on CBS, too, but that organization seems to have become largely a Kimbo-promotional vehicle. But Elite or Affliction should have a shot at signing Tito this weekend after he is mauled by Lyoto Machida.

I hope they can sustain it as well. EliteXC is pinning a lot of hope on this CBS Kimbo stuff. They've been losing a lot of money lately. If it doesn't pay off and they fold, that's going to leave some very marketable free agents in Kimbo and Cung Le.

I'd like to see Kimbo get blasted by the younger Emelianenko.

Yeah, you kinda wonder what will happen to Kimbo if he isn't protected by Gary Shaw and has to fight in some 'real' fights. I'm not sure Affliction or anyone else will protect him the way EliteXC has done. Especially not the UFC.

I'd like to see Kimbo in the UFC though. His first fight should be against Brock Lesnar. Kimbo is 2-0, Lesnar is 1-1, that's even, right?

I want to see EliteXC succeed but I want to see their cash cow Kimbo slaughtered by James Thompson. I hope James comes to fight and not take a dive or something. I am very suspicous of this promotion. UFC President Dana White thinks it "stinks" that a youtube street fighter like Kimbo Slice may be the face of MMA right now. He will eventually be exposed and I hope it's next weekend.

I'm lovin the Josh Barnett vs. Pedro Rizzo fight! Barnett is probably my favorite American fighter and second overall to FEDOR! I haven't seen Josh fight since his days in PRIDE.

This Sylvia is black I'm guessing? Never mind I looked it up and Tim Sylvia looks pretty white to me. Still though I'll be hoping for Fedor, he's got a reputation to defend as the toughest man on the planet which is good for white athletes reputations. Go Fedor!Edited by: ToughJ.Riggins

Riggins, Tim Sylvia is white as you can be. You are likely confusing him with Anderson Silva in the UFC.

SPOILER ALERT::: Do not read any further

Fedor was so dominate. Fedor stopped Sylvia in 32 seconds. Fedor was absolutely dominant. Man is he unbelievable.

Arlovski also looked like his old self while knocking out Ben Rothwell in the third round with fast powerful precision punches.

Josh Barnett showed he could stand up as he caught Pedro Izzo with a Haymaker of a left hook to win by knockout.

Goodridge lost to Buentello by decision.

Hominick submitted some stocky African dude via armbar.

Fedor made Tim look like a rank amateur. Monster performance.

Barnett fought well. That left hook was awesome.

Arlovski looked very good as well, knocking out Rothwell.

For a first effort Affliction put on a pretty good show. Production was solid. A little too much Megadeath toward the end though.

This was the best show of the year.

I love how UFC-only fans think Anderson Silva is the best fighter in MMA.

It's not even close. Not even in the silly and pointless language of a pound for pound debate. Not only is he better in absolute terms, the only terms that matter, Emelianenko is better than Silva in the complete fantasy, internet chat room language of a pound for pound discussion. A discussion that should have been left behind in boxing anyway, as there is nothing "ultimate" about weight classes.

Fedor is the best in the world now no doubt.Their excuse was that he dos'nt fight top comp but that goes out the window now.Its a shame he's not in the UFC,simply because he would gain so much more exposure.

Fedor has one loss and I believe he was winning that fight, but it got stopped on a cut. The guy is insane, he's almost unbeatable in a sport where everyone is supposed to be beatable! Wow what a beast! Fedor would rip Rampage or Forrest a new one, although they are a weight class lower so that will never happen!

Even in the face of Fedor's performance, which could rightly be considered one of the greatest in the history of MMA, many are laying it on pretty thick with the Anderson Silva is the best PFP fighter in the world nonsense.

I like James Irvin he seems like a nice guy but he is no MMA champion. His KO of Alexander was great to watch but Alexander was and always will be a can. Silva's victory over him was insignificant compared to what Fedor did. The MMA internet warriors are acting as if Silva just scaled Mt. Everest or something.

I guess Dana White has a pretty big interst in shoving this Silva PFP crap down everyone's throats considering Fedor has now walked through 4 former UFC HW champs (Nog, Tim, Coleman and Randleman). How embarassing for White and the UFC. And forget about Couture. After what i saw last night Randy has about as much of a chance as I do of beating Fedor.

ToughJ, Griffin and Jackson can fight Emelianenko any time they want. You realize they are natural heavyweights right? Griffin weighs over 230 pounds. Most of the top fighters at 205 are natural heavyweights. Just last night, a natural heavyweight named Brandon Vera had a match at 205. Even Anderson Silva and Rich Franklin are natural heavyweights who have to cut weight just to get down to 205. And of course, one of the greatest natural heavyweights of all-time, The Natural himself, had many matches at 205.

This is yet another argument against Anderson Silva being the best fighter in MMA.

Fedor's the best all-around/PFP fighter in the world by far. I expected Sylvia to give Fedor some initial trouble standing up, and eventually get taken down & sub'd. However, I'm not surprised by Fedor's dominance.

Regarding "Spider" Silva, he's not the best PFP fighter in the world...after Fedor I'd also give GSP & BJ Penn the nod over Silva. I'd love to see Randy drop down to 205 & GnP A.Silva.

Glad to see Barnett over Rizzo. During the UFC Fight Night, I was glad to see AnthYOny Johnson lose...even if it was via eye-gouge.

Johnson should get an Academy Award for that sh*t. He dropped like he had been shot. I have been looking for post fight press conference pics or something to see if he had any physical damage, but haven't found any.

Yeah, an eye poke hurts but man that sh*t was ridiculous. He flopped like an NBA star going for the foul.

LOL...he'd thought he draw the DQ victory by that thespian bit, but instead drew the TKO loss!
