Just awesome. Move the only guy that could stay with a receiver in man coverage to backup safety. That makes perfect sense. I know Bob Toledo has gotten praise for getting more white players, but in reality he is a horrible coach. I don't think he is responsible for Tulane getting white players, I know they stick to strict academic criteria and Toledo has cried before that he needed "more athleticism" which we all know what is code for being that guys like Alex hav plenty of athleticism. He has blamed the players for losing since he is a horrible coach. "Its not the scheme....its the players." They had a decent offensive coordinator last year, they would be rolling on offense and then then it seem like a total change in gameplan (which looked like Toledo overriding the play calls) and them going into a shell. "Lets run 3 straight times into a wall and play prevent D" kind of mentality with a touchdown lead.
This is part of the reason why some of our whiter teams struggle to win games, players not in the right position and just horrible play calling. This is why I am not too upset over Colorado St losing some white starters for this year, the coaching sucks its like they don't care about winning. Luckily we have teams like Nebraska and last year Arizona's defense was awesome. We can only hope for some up and coming coach to stay at a white program. Coaches like Urban Meyer at Utah got sucked into the SEC because of greed(although they have had some good coaching staffs afterward). Tulsa had Gus Malazhn who was a great coordinator and had a fairly white team put up great numbers, now at Auburn helping affletes put up great numbers. Thats why I admire the Boise coach, he is great at the x's and o's (was the offensive coordinator from 01-05 and has been the head coach since) and could go somewhere else to make more money but he doesn't. Granted his offensive scheme is probably the most complicated in college and I doubt he would be able to run it in the SEC but still there are only a few schools that have both the coaching and fairness for our guys to shine, Boise and BYU seem to be at the top with the longest, Nebraska as well. Texas Tech was pretty fair with Leach and produced Welker and Amendola but hes gone. Hopefully teams like Tulane, Wyoming (good d last year but o was horrible) and Colorado St step it up with coaching staffs (even though they had a decrease in whites this year). I mean elite athleticism can shine through at times but its really hard to get noticed on a team with bad coaching, McGuffie was an example of this last year, he was able to overcome bad playcalling to show a few glimpses but didn't reach his full potential. The coaches are partly to blame because they couldn't find a consistent quarterback, going through 4 guys with a different scheme for each one, hopefully next year they have a better plan. Unfortunately some of the best x's and o's guys are in the SEC because it pays the most. Bo Pelini was a big part in LSU's success in 07 so he is one of the few that have left for greener (whiter) pastures. Hopefully he can get into the National Title game next year with Martinez and Burkhead lighting it up on offense and guys like Crick anchoring a great d because apparently no matter how good Boise does they are not going to get a real shot. It looks like the Fiesta Bowl is the highest an undefeated season will get them, maybe that will change with the move out of the WAC, I dunno.
and for the black troll (probably still reading this site) on here a while back claiming white teams in high school always win because of better coaching thinking this might support his point, just not true. I think the coaching at the high school level is more even throughout most teams so you are just witnessing whites vs blacks on level playing fields. Even the best coaches have a smaller time to work with their players and have to focus more on basics, they don't have time to "outscheme" teams like at the college level.
