Looks like Kuhn is going to be either cut or relegated to a blocking back. Gary Russell gets a chance even though he failed out of Minnesota and shows up to the combine overweight and out of shape

Kuhn's as good as gone, and maybe Dan Kreider too. The Steelers new offensive scheme pretty much does away with the blocking fullback role, so Kreider will either be cut or rarely see the field if he isn't.

Yea, as a former Steelers fan I wish them nothing but the worst. Colbert is a huge caste whore. Gary Russell is the last straw.

WR Aaron Hosack was one of four Saints cut ahead of Tuesday's cutdown deadline. I knew this was coming but it still makes my blood boil. What a talent this guy is. Such all-time greats as David Patten, Lance Moore and Jamal Jones look to have made theroster while Hosack gets the boot from yet another team.

Last year Sean Payton purged Mike Hass, Chase Lyman and Chris Horn. The Saints may have the Snow Patrol at linebacker, but it's nothing but the Coal Patrol at receiver.

David Patten? It's hard to believe the guy is still in the league. I recall him sucking for the Giants as their second WR in the late nineties. Wow!

Broncos released David Kircus. I guess the thought of two white WR's was more than they could bear.

I don't know if any of you have ever heard of perennial practice squad receiver Drew Haddad. He is a Semitic Arab that still holds many receiving records in the MAC and was cut a while back from the Bills. He outperformed his competition at receiver and made exceptional plays on special teams. He ended up being cut because he was too old to be placed on the practice roster.

Funny you metion that name, I watched Fox Sports Ohio this past weekend to see a kid running all over the place for Avon Lake High School. His name was Mike Haddad and played RB. I bet it is his brother and he looked like the real deal. I was going to post my wrap up of High School football for the week but got caught up. Anyone know anything about him? This was all I could find.

Kircus is finished in the nfl. His arrest for assault on top of a previousDUI makes him untouchable by any team now/

Of course that's the norm for any Black receiver...

at least Shanahan gave him some credit...

"Shanahan said Kircus's release had nothing to do with his legal troubles.

"David has great speed, he is a competitor. We just decided to go a different direction. But he does have some talent," Shanahan said."

it is probable since he didn't wow people with his return game this preseason. he looked like he lost some explosiveness after his injury last season.
there's still a chance he'll make it though, however Philadelphia has 2 other talented white receivers in Zac Collie and Mike Gasperson, who i'd love to see in the NFL.

here's what i found so far, from kffl.com:

Eagles | Reid not thrilled with Bloom
Tue, 28 Aug 2007 11:21:04 -0700

Bob Brookover, of the Philadelphia Inquirer, reports Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid said WR Jeremy Bloom has done "just OK" as a returner this preseason. Bloom is currently fighting for a roster spot.

I predict that Bloom will make the team. I rooting for him. But, can anybody figure out why a smallish white reciever who is coming off a major injury will be given a roster spot after a mediocre preseason in Philidelphia while Mike Hass and David Ball will likely be cut? I can. That's why I'll bet the farm that Bloom makes the team.

seems like Andy Reid is back to his old self, after entertaining more white players on offense than any other team, including Rams, he quickly got rid of three white WRs (Bloom, Gasparson and Collie) plus a backup white TE Vickers and FB Jeremy Cain... oh and to top it all off he also cut one of the 2 white corners in the league, Dustin Fox...

all these are unconfirmed as of yet, but did we really expect anything else from caste master?

I thought Schlesinger was going to have a big role as fullback for Dolphins. Does this mean Eckle makes the team?

S John Busing released by the Bengals.

I think with Schlesinger it was just a matter of age finally catching up with him. He was a ferocious blocker for a long time.

Steelers | Kuhn released
Sat, 1 Sep 2007 14:24:41 -0700

Gerry Dulac, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reports the Pittsburgh Steelers have released RB John Kuhn.

comment from Pittsburgh Post:

"Tomlin will not keep Kuhn, who made the club last year as an undrafted rookie from Shippensburg University after spending the first eight weeks on the practice squad.

Kuhn can be overlooked when a coach goes down a roster on paper, but not so easily when he watches him play. He was a good special teams player and when given a chance, as he was last preseason, productive. But Carey Davis, another fullback-halfback, has surpassed him this summer and there appears to be no room for Kuhn.

Another team -- perhaps one with coaches who know him in Arizona -- might pick him up.

But a technicality could hurt Kuhn's career. He's not eligible for a practice squad.

Players are ineligible if they have been on practice squads for three years or if they have been active for nine games in one season.

The Steelers signed Kuhn to their 53-man roster Oct. 31. He was dressed and played in their remaining nine games."

Steelers also cut safety Mike Lorello and TEs Jon Dekker and Cody Boyd. too bad about Lorello as i really like this player.
