Eric Weddle - CB

At the Senior Bowl Jon Gruden Said there is "no question" that Eric Weddle can play cornerback in the NFL and that he will see some action there in the game.

Wow Gruden sounds pretty flexible there has Chucky been taking some mind expanding drugs.....

Would Gruden actually play him at CB though, if he ended up on his Roster?

I agree Weddle would make an outstanding cb and probably should be placed there in the pros. However, as much as I hate the blatant racism that goes into slotting players, I feel that the free safety is one of the most influencial positions on the defense. Many people see Weddle's talents and may feel he can do more at that position. He obviously has a penchant for knowing where the ball is going and is great with the ball in his hands. He also is great at coming up to stop the run and can freelance more and create confusion for the qb. In saying all of this, Weddle as a cb would provide more of a impact on the caste system so I really hope he gets his chance. But in all honesty, he'll probably be compared to John Lynch for the rest of his life (very few similarities) and be thrilled with the fact that he made it in the pros. we as whites need to be more obstinant and stick to our guns when some "racially aware" coach wants us to take one for the team and slide into the correct allotted positions. We need to start expected more and when the time arises, take a little note from our darker counterparts and raise hell!

Gruden actually said that Weddle could play CB in the pros and will get time there in the Senior Bowl.

Here is an interesting article from USA today on Weddle. Gets some pretty good love from the writer. Of course there is the ever popular caveats at the end of the article about being able to play in the pros almost anywhere, which of course we all know is special teams.

Of course even Weddle's own coach has to put Eric in his racially correct position by saying he could "see Weddle as a safety". What a f'in joke the guy's own coach can't even stick up for him. How many games did Weddle win for Wittingham?

The combine begins this week as as it is every year the players make or break themselves with theie 40 time. Does anyone think if Weddle runs under a 4.45 that he'll be considered a CB or is it gonna take a 4.1. Just joking but you get my point. So what does everybody think Weddle will have to run in order to get drafted as a CB?

4.45 or under. There are maybe 12 actual starting cornerbacks in the NFL that can even run that fast. A majority of the db's are in the 4.5 range.

I think if he runs in the 4.45 second range he will be considered a legitimate corner. Not to hijack the thread, but there is an interesting post on DraftDaddy about John Wendling. He is projected to run under 4.4 at 220 lbs.

It would be nice to get a couple of more Jason Sehorn's in the league so his career won't seem like such a exception to the rule in regards to white cornerbacks. Does anybody here remember Scott Case, the pro bowl cb for the falcons in the mid 90's?

Case was a star corner in the late 80's, by the mid 90's he was a backup safety/cb for the Cowboys. He won a ring with the "Bootlegger's boy" championship team with Dallas as a backup.

I lived in Dallas during those Super Bowl years and I remember him joining the team in the latter stages of his career. I don't believe he ever played cb for the Cowboys, just exclusively at safety. I would love to hear his personal story about how he overcame the odds and played cb for the Falcons at such a high level.
