Emilie Erasmus 10.01

Hi everyone,

Hope you are all well.

Some news on Emile. He has recovered from his injury and has been training for 4 months pain free.

Yesterday he had his comeback 100m. The race was a pre-qualifier for provincial championships. They had 13 heats and Emile ran the quickest time. Still some areas that needs work but he had a good race. His coach expected between 10.4 and 10.5 and he managed a 10.45, winning the event.

He was very happy with the result but will run every week until the championships in late March.

Sorry about the quality taken on a iphone

Fantastic news! He looked really good and fluid. Considering he is coming back from injury, ran in lane 1 and had nobody to push him, that’s a great result. Tell him we are pulling for him to have a great season!

Very fine form, relaxed and strong finish. Much more to come as the season progresses. Glad to have you back as we all enjoy rooting'
for your son as he chases his dreams. Hope he is enjoying the marraige!

Thank you all.

Still a bit flat footed and not using his glutes.

He will be working on it this week as he has a 150m invitational on Friday.

He will start working on his speed next week.

I am looking forward to a great 2025!

great to see.
I'll tell my S'African son-in-law Norman (10.79PB as a 17 year old around 2001) to keep watching Emile's comeback.
He still has fond memories of many things South African

Morning all

Second 100m since returning

Last league race of our season. Next up is the Provincial Championships for Athletics Gauteng North.

Improved to 10.29

His form is looking good, high knee lift and he appears to be running relaxed from what I can see....well done! A .16 improvement in 2 weeks is awesome!

He is pretty happy with that. Still a few things to work on for the next 2 weeks.

that is great Miele23. Improving quickly and in some good company tonight too.
Both of you must be very satisfied at his continued improvement.
Let's hope his long lay-off might in some way have a positive effect on his sprinting longevity.

10.19 and tied for first place after a long layoff with the injuries. Incredible if you ask me? Congrats and here is to alot more in the tank.
Would love to see him get his first sub 10 wind legal for his dad and his wife. You have to BELIEVE before you ACHIEVE!

well done Emile another .10 off your time. 10.19 is starting to fire on all cylinders and running relaxed!

Thank you. Quick start to the season

Great start by Emile, he shot out like a cannon! I know once all his speed endurance returns he will have a sub 10 with a start like that. It’s great to see him back running and he looked like he was having fun out there.

He is really enjoying himself. :)

great run. The announcers casually tried to play down his run but we know the truth. Cant wait to see his progression in the next few outings.

they were very much critical of Omanyala's run ..... 10.20 for a 9.77 man.
I think the lady co-commentator wasn't playing Emile down - she just reads it well. She felt Letebele, the 18 year old in lane 1, had won (even though Emile was getting to him).
The male commentator twice mentioned "a good run by Emile Erasmus" and added "who was there or thereabouts" but Ferdi would naturally be pre-race favourite. Yet an 18 year old beat them both today

With only a +0.7 that was a great 3rd come back run from Erasmus. That's a very honest and fighting 10.19

Provincial championships today

Emile had a good day ran 3 100m's.

A heat, shut himself down after 50m and cruised to a second place in 10.48 to qualify for the semi finals.
Ran much the same in the semi's to qualify for the final. He ran a 10.26. Winner ran a 10.06(pb)
Final was weird. He had a great start and was still in front at 45m. Started to stumble but still managed a 3rd place also 10.26. 2nd place ran 10.17 and 1st went to the winner of his semi in 9.99. the winner is still a junior(U/20) and broke the South African record.

I will post the the vids tomorrow.

He starts preparing for the South African Championships on Monday which are at the end of April. There might still be an event or 2 before then.

His coach is extremely happy with most of the 2.5 years of cobwebs out of his system.

He is competing a lot but all the races are used to build back his form of 3 years ago.
