Dustin Fox was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings.I hope
this is a good thing but it makes me wonder.Look how
they treated Russell.I really wanted Dustin to go to
the Browns so he could stay in Ohio_Oh well.I just hope
they keep him at the corner postion.At least he was
drafted on the first day.Good luck to Fox!
 
He'll need as much luck as possiblewith Mike Tice as his new head coach.

you know i hate to say this...because dustin fox is such a great player and i think he would be a great corner in this league...but he is never going to get the chance because he, like most white players, has that...."awww ill play anywhere they want me to" attitude. what he should say to mike tice is this in thier first practice...."put williamson on me one on one...then you will see im a corner and not a saftey coach" dustin needs to get some balls and stand up for himself and insist that they play him at corner..i dont see this happening..but lets hope for the best.
 
The Vikings had already picked up Darren Sharper from the Packers, which made Russell that much more expendable, and which will make it tougher for Fox to become a starter even though Sharper is one of the most overrated free safeties in the NFL.
 
I have to agree with psychosid here.It's hard to do
because every kid wants to play and make a living.At
the same time,guys like Fox, Sheldon, Jones,and even
Lumsden need to insist that they stay at their chosen
position.The way I look at it,these kids at least
deserve a season at that position to either prove that
they are worthy or not.If Fox fails,then move him to
saftey.I want these kids to demand a chance!
 
Here's astory about Dustin sent to us from a soldier overseas.Unfortunately it's filled with racial cliches and stereotypes, including from Tice. In case you're not familiar with Chris Walsh, he was a long time white "special teams demon" with the Vikings, a receiver who almost never saw the field but was almost like the team mascot because of his all-out energy on special teams and the way he always cheered on his teammates, sort of the ultimate know-your-place white (see thread in Caste Football's NFL section on White Special Teams Demons).

Gives the Vikings speed, athleticism and depth in the secondary. He played cornerback at Ohio State, but will move to safety with the Vikings. He also will play special teams and could serve as an emergency cornerback. Fox will compete with first-year pro Will Hunter for the fourth safety position. "You can play me anywhere you want." That's signing his death warrant, as far as ever getting a chance to be what he is, a cornerback. But I can understand why he said that. He'll play the role of model teammate, while his black teammates will be allowed to get away with conduct and attitudes that he can't without being cut.
 
psychosid, you hit the nail directly on the head. I just saw your post. That's tellin' it like it is. But it's also easier said than done given the reality of the Caste System.
 
I'll admit that I didn't know much about Fox other than he played for OSU. I went and looked at his stats and holy crap! 4.45 40 time and 43" vertical. He definitely should get a shot at CB. He will probably need to get some upper body strength (7 reps, 225#) to handle some of the bigger WR in bump and run. That vertical will definitely help on the fade routes.
 
I was reading a Charles Robinson's column about the draft. He was commenting on e-mails sent in from readers. Found one that makes me laugh.


Have you ever seen Dustin Fox play? You think he'll give the Vikings depth? I'll bet $100 he doesn't make the team. He's terrible and too slow. He won't even help their special teams. I doubt if he could even help the equipment managers.

Yes, the spirit ofthe pathetic legacyof Vikings mascot Chris Walsh is being channeled through Dustin Fox. First we have Mike Tice saying right after the draft, ""I think[Fox is]going to bring that Chris Walsh-type of energy to our football team."


Walsh was a "wide receiver" who played special teams and was occasionally brought inas a fifth receiver to run short "white man'sroutes." I still remember an earnest white announcer bleating after a rare Walsh catch, "Chris Walsh specializes in three yard patterns."


And now we have further verification from this week's Sporting News. In the capsule summaries of each team's drafts, here is TSN's take: "S Dustin Fox should be a special teams terror and upgrade subpar coverage units."


Maybe when he's not busy being a "special teams terror," they can have him stand on the sideline wearing the Viking helmet and bearskin loincloth,leading the cheers forhis "athletic superiors" in Minnesota's defensive backfield.
 
Just because the guy played cornerback for a perennial powerhouse and
won a national championship and was a 3 year starter is that any reason
for him to get a shot at the same position?

He is too slow compared to the other athletes at the position. ; )

I hope he does not wind up like former Wisconsin WR Nick Davis. I t did not take long for the Vikings to destroy his carrer. Of coarse they never gave Nick much of a chance to begin with, Nick davis was quicly put on a few sepecial team plays. They treated Davis just like anyother white WR, draft them then ignore them.


Now poor Fox has been drafted by the killer of white players the dreaded Vikings.


Just how many Black Vikings have there been in history???

about it but it is only obvious.He is only looked at
as a safety for one reason and that is so wrong!Stand
up Dustin and stay at the corner.You deserve that.
 
I hope he does stay at cornerback. I'm getting tired of hearing about how whites can't compete at these positions. They never get a freaking chance to. This is racism at its worst. I would raise holy helk if I were Fox or someone in his position. I would make people hear me and make as much publicity about it as I could.
 
There's the difference between the black athlete and the white athlete.The black figures he is getting a raw deal in a certain situation and he say's out loud "because I'm black," and means it.The white guy thinks he's getting screwed and say's "because I'm white" and then say's he's kidding.
 
With all of the trouble with Randy Moss,and now the
running back,maybe the Vikings will wake up and quit
treating all of the white players like crap.Dustin Fox
can be a star if they bring him along and develop him.
He has all the tools.Come on Minnesota.Believe in this
kid and you won't be sorry.Go Dustin Fox!They don't call
him white lightning II for nothing.Ha.ha.
 
This is just a F you post to all the haters pundits out there who didn't even have Fox on their top 100 player list(which is all of them) or even 150 list for 90% of them. As Fox was the 81st pick in the draft which isn't even close to 100. So no matter if he is a Safety or CB HE IS a TOP 100 player in this years draft class. When it is all said and done Fox will have had a productive career he is just too much of an athete and hard worker not to be.
