Maybe Ortiz will get in shape for this one. I have noticed a lot of fat heavyweights of late.

No way Wilder takes Ortiz lightly. Ortiz is old (for boxing) but he doesn't have too much wear and tear and he hits possibly as hard as a Klitschko. Wilder cannot mix with him; that thin neck of Wilder's will let him down -on the mat.

Expect Wilder to hit and run like he did the first fight with Stiverne and likely more so. Ortiz will never win a decision against Wilder on this planet, and he knows it, so he'll be throwing to knockout not to win. The boxing organizations want a Joshua v. Wilder all galaxy super-nova showdown.

Ortiz is a southpaw and Wilder hasn't fought many southpaws, but will his straight punches fit just inside Ortiz's wide hooks and forward leaning chin? Or will Ortiz's pressure and body work cause Wilder to wilt late and fall from a straight left or reaching right hook? I think it depends on the quality of Ortiz that we see that night.

Ortiz weighed in at 241 but his body looks soft, like many roiders who get off gear his muscle tone isn't what it was while on gear because his testosterone levels have dropped. Wilder on the other hand looks like he either trained for agility and speed or over trained as he weighed in at 214 and change which is very skinny for a 6'7" heavyweight.

If Ortiz can land a bomb on giraffe legs it should be lights out but I'm not sure he has the conditioning nor speed to get inside on Wilder.

Correct. Wilder will have better stamina, Ortiz is old and in poor condition.

Wilder refused to fight him three years ago, and again last year, but now Ortiz looks faded with age and inactivity, and so is a easier opponent.

Wilder will win by decision or a KO/TKO in rounds 7-12.

Wilder it seems has more lives than the proverbial black cat. He was out on his feet in the 7th round but he clung on and rode out bombs to survive the round. I think the age of Ortiz allowed Wilder to survive the 8th and get his legs under him by the start of the 9th. The fight seemed to play out similar to poor man's verison of Joshua vs Klitschko.

Too bad I was looking forward to putting a supine Wilder on my GIF image.....

I must admit Wilder is tougher than I thought he was. His punch keeps him in the fights more than his boxing. Ortiz looked to be gassed after he failed to finish Wilder.

At least this keeps him in line for a showdown with Joshua, which is much more interesting than Joshua-Ortiz would be.

Yeah, kudos for Wilder KO'n a 45 yr old man. But anyone under 30 years old ends that fight in the round 7 where Wilder was out on his feet.

I thought he would have been exposed by now, but he somehow keeps finding a way to win. He has fought some names now, but my opinion is still that he will be on the receiving end of a highlight reel knockout eventually. There's a reason he never fought Klitschko, there's a reason he won't fight Povetkin and there's a reason he has avoided Joshua. He's found a lot of corners to hide in throughout his career, but time is running out for him....I think.

And by the way Ortiz is yet another fighter from the "vaunted" Cuban amateur program to fall short of the top in the pros.

The Eastern Euros have been far more successful in the pros.

They love going on and on about the Cuban amateur program. All of their top guys have had their asses handed to them in the recent past. Rigondeaux received a thorough beating from Lomachenko. Ortiz, who really hasn't fought anyone besides Bryant Jennings and Malik Scott(both of whom are decent but not elite) and a faded Tony Thompson, just got knocked out. Barrera was dropped in the fight against Ward and then absolutely dominated and beaten from corner to corner by Bivol this past Saturday. Gamboa has never been able to live up to the hype and has been knocked out twice. Dorticos just a few weeks ago was dominated and TKO'd by Gassiev. Povetkin knocking out Perez was a sweet highlight reel as well....all in all the Cubans have perfomed very poorly at the elite level. But of course, guys like Kellerman continue to go on and on about them.

Those additional seconds Wilder got at the beginning of rd. 8 were critical because he was rubber legged on queer street...and we know that the powers that be in boxing didn't want their Wilder cash cow to lose because they were counting on making big money with a Joshua-Wilder fight.

Boxing is so corrupt, and in the USA nowadays they are right in your face about it. They don't even care. Boxing has always been the domain of shady characters, but at least in the past the shady characters had the discretion to stay in the shadows and lend boxing at least the outward appearance of being a legitimate sport.

I watched that video a couple years ago. I don't know how he's been able to avoid being rocked in the pros, especially given that he was hurt with headgear on. He's wild and pretty uncoordinated at times.

It's possible he chin has gotten stronger at 220 pounds than when he was at 201 pounds as an amateur. I have seen some fighters who were dead at a weight get violently ko'd and then move up a division or two and have a rock solid chin because they are stronger at the weight.

He also has improved his skills since then as he was very raw. Wilder still isn't a Gene Tunney clone but he isn't nearly as bad as he was when he first turned pro fighting tank town fighters.

Back to the bum of the month tour for Wilder with another fiasco last night. It does not look like Fury will get another shot at him anytime soon. Wilder escaped that fight with a draw and his belt and it's back to the bums. Joshua has a bum of his own to fight soon.

Wilder is the PBC champion, Al Haymon contacted Don King and learned all of the tricks in keeping the belt in the family and having favorable judges. Watch PBC broadcasts and you see too many draws in close fights, the reason for this is because a controversial draw makes the news and sets up a rubber bout.

I was going to do a preview of the fight last night but I was too busy and felt that Breazeale was going to impersonate a cigar store Indian and get ko'd the first time he was nailed. It almost happened, but not before he almost ko'd Wilder with a desperation get off me right cross, he was just too stunned to follow up as Wilder held to clear his head and then subsequently felled him like a cigar store Indian.

To be honest Fury didn't want to fight Wilder under a 50-50 split as his team saw what happened the first time, that's why there is no rematch. The pot would be bigger but the split would only make his raise marginal.

I expect Fury to be a free agent for either a Joshua fight or a rematch with Wilder and he will take the fatter purse.

Wilder is the worst boxer I have ever seen that seems to just keep winning somehow. He has very little skill compared to the greats of the past. With 40 professional fights he still throws playground windmill punches when he gets excited. Fury easily made him look like a bum, but never caught him with anything good to put him down and then eventually got caught himself. There are a lot of boxers coming up right now from everywhere that are big guys and I can't imagine Wilder has that much time left. Of course, we've been saying that for 4 or so years now. I suppose Breazele wasn't a bum, but he is far from the elite level.

Wilder wasn’t close to being in trouble and wasn’t anywhere close to being ko’d. He isn’t a great fighter but he threw a beautiful straight right and put Breazele’s lights out. Wilder has very good speed, length and power but I agree he isn’t in the conversation of all time great champs...not even close.

Brazeale looked like a stiff against Joshua and an even bigger stiff with Wilder. One of the worst heavyweight challengers in recent memory. Flabby, slow, no skills to speak of. Wilder's safest challenger yet.

But after being schooled by Fury I suppose he needed an easy one.
