As mentioned on the NFL Thread by other posters and Don, the look of the NFL looks like it could never be blacker in the coming years. Well, with the passing of the ACC's first coach, Dean Smith, to recruit and bring in a black player, Charley Scott, the look of college basketball, at least where Duke/UNC are concerned can never be blacker!
At times I'm optimistic that whites will finally get it, but after the death of Smith and the build up to the Duke/UNC game, I'm not so sure.
As a longtime Duke fan, I couldn't bear to watch the game, because I knew that the entire starting 10 would all be black.
While CF was down, I posted on face book in response to a guys post that Black History month could be considered racist. I agreed. I then discussed how basketball and football are biased towards blacks and immediately was met with same old, the most qualified players play or they totally didn't understand and or didn't see the caste system at work.
I have since pointed to that game, Duke/UNC, as a clear indication of the caste system/agenda at work to which most respond with a blank look on their face, no response at all, or that's just how things are attitude or that I'm the racist. Some of my closest family members and friends get it, but most don't care!
There's a lot of articles out there about Dean Smith and how he was the first to bring in a black player, including BSPN's: How Dean Smith/Charley Scott changed the look of Tobacco Road, I'll say, as if that wasn't in your/our face enough.
I'm truly concerned that if whites didn't get it after the latest edition of the All-AA Duke/UNC game and all the hype over Dean Smith, they never will. I hope I'm wrong.
Thanks Dean for bringing diversity to the ACC!
