Danny Green is a wild man.
I am also a fan of Danny Green.
However I don't see him beating the elite in the light Heavyweight division. He may be able to make a run but I just don't see him being able to defeat guys like Zsolt Erdei, or Chad Dawson at Light Heavy. Green is probably my favorite Light Heavy after Tomasz Adamek but I just don't see it.
I hope I am wrong about that.

Danny Green is now scheduled to fight Antonio Tarver on Dec 1, televised by Showtime. This is another great matchup for us to look forward to!

Danny Green won the WBA Light Heavyweight title today, by winning a wide decision over Stipe Drews. A world title has changed hands - from a white boxer to another white boxer.

There's some very good white fighters in Australia, such as Green and Katsidis!

Anyone know what is going on with Adamek? Any big fights coming up for him?

He's fighting Tiwon Taylor on Dec 29 (the same card as Huck vs. Cunningham).

Sounds like Drews didn't put up much of a fight. I'm not sure about Green calling out Mundine; he already beat Green once. I assume Green is banking on being stronger and better at light-heavy, and coaxing Mundine up from 168. Another big pay day for them both, although I would rather see Green fight someone else.

I would like to see green fight Tarver as well.I see Green beating Tarver. Possibly even knocking him out. Tarver is a has been. I could think of a good 7-8 Light heavy's that would beat Tarver.

Here's an eight minute highlight vid of the fight:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdYzmUfJIXA

This may be the best way to watch the fight, given Drews' backpedaling. I'm glad to see Green win, but I was interested in seeing more of Drews. He has a lot of tools. Height, reach, defense, good movement, savvy. As far as I could tell from the vid, it looked like he was making Green miss a fair amount; sometimes Drews would step out of the way and Green would run into the ropes. He's very mobile for a man his size. But he showed absolutely no punching prowess whatsoever! From a 6'5" LHW, I would've expected at least a stiff jab. If he could punch, he would be something special.

He's the opposite of a lot of fighters: good punchers but lack defense/ mobility/ height/ reach, etc. Edited by: JD074

What time, USA, does this fight start, and where can I see it? Anyone know?

Working stream here.

Not the best, but it works.

Undercard is over. Fight should be starting within 15 minutes.

Damn!! Green lost! It was a TKO in the 9th. I missed almost all of the fight and tuned in during the 8th round. Tarver was supposedly winning the fight up to that point and dropped Green in the 2nd round.

To give credit where it's due, that was an excellent performance by Antonio Tarver. He came in excellent physical condition and had the right game plan of coming forward and backing Green up.

Unlike Bernstein and Farhood, Tarver is always fair in his comments about white boxers on Showtime.

Green was on an absolute tear after coming out of retirement. He destroyed Roy Jones, Paul Briggs, and beat contender BJ Flores. I guess it had to come to an end eventually.:sad:

I posted this in the other Danny Green thread a while back:

http://www.fightnews.com/Boxing/green-forced-retirement-71817

When I heard about this fight I thought it was a pretty bad one for Danny. Tarver is old but he's still good.

Danny shouldn't have been lying against the ropes so much, that's when Tarver was landing his best punches. Danny was trying to draw Tarver in at times on the ropes and was missing wildly. He should have been going forward and pressing the fight rather than backing up. He went after Tarver in the 7th round and hurt him. Disappointing result.

Strange result considering Green was able to handle the naturally larger BJ Flores. It seemed like Tarver's natural length was too much for Green to overcome. Green's corner seemed humane too, compare the ending here to the fight in Germany where Briggs' corner sent him to potentially die late in the fight against Vitali.

Briggs corner and the referee should have been banned from boxing for not stopping that fight, and Vitali got cheated out of yet another KO.

Green won today in an all domestic clash against Shane Cameron. He seemed to out hustle the naturally larger Cameron. Ps I only saw highlights as a pirate copy of the broadcast hasn't hit the web yet.
