Dan Morgan retires

After signing with the the Saints earlier this offseason, LB Dan Morgan has decided to retire.

What could have been. On a per-game basis, few linebackers were more productive this decade; Morgan just couldn't stay on the field. He had the instincts and explosion not unlike Ray Lewis, his linebacker mentor at Miami. Morgan's recovery from Achilles surgery is causing his retirement, but it's for the best. He's endured chronic concussion problems since 2003. Scott Shanle should start for the Saints on the weak side.

yeah, i was hoping he will rebound, big time. damn, he was only young, and, as rotoworld pointed out, every time he did play, he played like a monster. if he stayed ehalthy he could have been a HoF, in my opinion.

your damn right backrow, HOF was not out of the question. But I still prefer to see his walk-away while healthy, than seeing him in the news 10-years from now dead from brain damages caused by too many concussions...

Dan Morgan is coming out of retirement to play once more. Way to go Dan knockem dead.

I am worried about Morgan's health somewhat though. According to a report from Fox Sports.com Morgan says he is ready to go again. I hope the Saints will let Morgan start if he is ready. Hopefully his production level will stay high, as it was before retirement. Hopefully it won't take long for him to get back into the swing of things.

This guy was a tackling GOD at Miami. Maybe he can replace the super-overrated, 1st round bust JonathanVilma.

He was All-Pro caliber with Carolina too when he was healthy. He just turned 30, he could easily have three or more good seasons left. If he does stay healthy it'll be a real bonus, like having an additional white rookie LB in '09 in addition to Cushing, Laurinaitis and Matthews.
