I know nothing about Oregon high school football. Cory plays in 4A. I'm assuming that's the top classification or the second highest. Considering his speed credentials, his 40 time (as listed at Scout) seems low. Hard to find recruiting information on him. Rivals has nothing, Scout lists him as a two star. No colleges have made any offers, apparently.
Reminds me of Derek Lawson. Set the single season rushing record for the state of Arkansas (blew it away, actually) and still couldn't get any decent offers. Will now be a waterboy for stable of black runningbacks at a Sun Belt school for the next four years.

Cory had 265 yards and four touchdowns on 12 carries in his first game this season, a 55-16 victory.

And since I didn't specifically mention it in the opening post, Cory was the state champion last year in the 100m, 400m, Long Jump, 4x100 relay, and runner-up in the 200m.

Wish I lived in Oregon so I could compile some game film on him and post it to YouTube. That's mostly how McGuffie got famous.

Cory had 15 carries for 223 yards and
four touchdowns in a 42-8 victory in game 2.
While no threat to break the all time national rushing mark, it certainly looks like Cory is a safe bet for over 8,000 career yards.
Yet, he's still not the highest ranked RB in Oregon.

On YouTube, there is one postage stamp-sized clip of him making a run for a touchdown. You can just barely make out him putting some moves on defenders at speed. There are a decent number of pics online (somewhere) of him running in last season's state championship game. He has the same body type as Darren McFadden; very spindly legs but a strong upper body. Recent newspaper articles say he has added size and strength to his frame from last year, so the "5'10" 179lbs" is probably too low now. Whoever gets this kid (assuming they don't want him as a gunner) will have a real star.

All in the first half. Cory didn't play in the second half.
A 60-20 victory.

He changes direction instantaneously. Although he doesn't have the acceleration of McGuffie. Still, I'm shocked (and not surprised) that he isn't a major Rivals/Scout star.
Maybe the new shaved head will help him out. They won't be able to see his blonde hair and hold it against him.

RiddleWire, if you have a Youtube account you should post that video under headings that will get views. I have an account, but don't know how to post videos. Youtube is a good way for the masses to see elite white talent and have it debated about whether the guy is a legit Div. 1 prospect with the comments.

I'd like to, but I have no idea how to capture that video from their website. It would also need to be edited (the two Cory vids spliced together and the other games footage cut out) and I've never done that before. I'll ask somebody about it, though. It definitely could help him out with recruiting if his numbers and vids could spread around the sports-o-sphere like McGuffie's did.

Thus far on the season, Cory has 876 total yards rushing through 4 games for a per game average of 219ypg. Also 14 rushing touchdowns. Not sure how many TD catches or special teams TDs he has. Additionally, he kicks extra points.

His KO return is there and also a nice juke and spin move on two runs.
I just wish they'd film from higher up. Hard to see anything at ground level.

Cory surpassed the 7,000 yard career rushing mark last night. He now stands at 7,182. He'll need to get more PT if he's going to reach 8,000 career yards. With the playoffs, he's got a slim chance, though.

Being from Arkansas, I have limited ability to keep up to date on Cory's recruiting. I have to rely solely on the internet for info. From what I can tell thus far, he has no scholarship offers. Here is how Oregon Preps puts it:

"He set the state's all-time rushing record - as a junior. He's breaking
records each time he's out on the field. He just ran roughshod against
Marist and their vaunted line of D-I prospects. Yet despite all those
accolades, </span><b style="font-weight: bold;">Cory McCaffrey[/b] has barely gotten a sniff on the
recruiting trail. It's somewhat of a mystery why the shifty 5-foot-9,
180-pound running back from Sisters High School isn't getting more
attention, but he's staying positive with the process and hoping
something comes through as he continues to shatter mark after mark."</span>

If I had any connections to any D1 coaches, I'd call them up and tell them about him. I know there are plenty of major programs that could use a highly credentialed speedster. I'm guessing his coach (who is also the school's principal) is just too 'small time'. He doesn't know that he needs to rep on Cory's behalf. It will be a shame if he ends his football career in high school.

Somehow, I doubt Cory will be lucky enough to get a look from one of his home-state schools. Oregon and OSU are shamefully dark, especially considering the demographics of the state. Among his college choices listed at Rivals (not sure if he provides those or not) are Air Force, Army, Colorado, Wazzu, and Portland State, along with the two Oregon schools. I think Hawkins would give him a chance if he were on the team, but I'm not sure there are any recruiting scouts on his staff that would even bother looking in small-town Oregon for a white running back. Cory's biggest weakness is lack of exposure.

He has a listing for both Scout and Rivals. He's a two star on each. There's just no 'buzz' about him.

I think this kid might be better than McGuffie. Riddlewire you say he cuts on a dime, like McGuffie, and these numbers he is putting up are unreal! I don't care if this is "only" Oregon Football and Sam's a little faster; Cory is averaging 14.4 yards per carry for the games you listed that included it! Maybe he has an extra tool to his game like real hard-nosed running that McGuffie is only solid at!

I've seen McGuffie in games. He has a natural move (that sideways slice of his) that no other running back possesses. It's a powerful weapon. He can turn his body to the side upon contact and reduce his profile. It helps him shake off tacklers while still moving forward. In twenty five years of watching football, I've never seen anyone else do it. And Sam does it on nearly every run. He was just born with it, I guess. It will make him a star on the next level. Assuming he doesn't sit on the bench behind a 'dark curtain' for four years.
I've seen Cory's highlights from every game this year, and two runs from last year. He doesn't have the burst of speed or the top end that Sam has. Nor does he have any special spin moves or hurdles. But he can change his momentum very quickly. Almost making 90 degree turns at full speed. Obviously that will only be beneficial when the conditions are right (scattered defensive traffic), but combined with his crouched running style, it gives him just enough ability to gain yardage without ever really taking a direct hit. I think he would be dominant at the college level as a kick returner, even though I'd prefer to see him taking snaps as a full time tailback.
Unfortunately, I'm pretty certain that I'll never actually get to *see* Cory play any college football. There's very little chance of any Division III west coast college football games getting on TV. And that's most likely where Cory will end up.
