no problem...i know that there are guys out there who could be outstanding athletes. I heard somewhere that most colleges wouldn't accept Cory because of his size. He's only 5'7" and maybe 190lbs. Thats why we lost the state championship this year was because the guys from marist were massive and knew that if they could shut him down they could win the game...which happened.

But thats why i am trying to get the word out to people so they can see that people like Cory have a chance at college or even the pros.

lucky,

The Outlaws destroyed Marist during the regular season and Cory couldn't be stopped in that game. I watched the championship game online. It seemed to me that the fumbles really hurt, and Marist installed some new offensive wrinkles. That was the only difference. I don't think Marist's size made any difference.
Cory's height ought to be irrelevant. There are starting runningbacks in the NFL who are smaller than Cory right now.

He has the same body type as Darren McFadden; very spindly legs but a strong upper body.

Nope - I just saw him on the sports news here in Eugene, OR, winning the 440 in a track meet. He has legs like Barry Sanders - really powerful looking.

Did I write that?
That was early. The only pics I saw were some game pics in black and white. Must've been the wrong player. In any case, there is plenty of footage of him available now (although still not on Youtube). He's the type of low runner who NFL scouts claim to like most. Somehow that's not enough for any of the 120 D1A teams. They prefer slower, clumsier, and darker runningbacks who had far less production in high school.

Riddlewire do you have any links to the footage of Cory? I'd like to watch him and compare him to other lesser (black) RBs. I have a Scout.com membership and I'd like to plug him on their board about how he got screwed.

Well, I am made a liar again.
The videos of his game performances are no longer archived. His Scout page actually lists two highlight reel vids, but they're 'insider' only. Have you looked at those? I don't know what they contain.
The only possible source of footage I can think of would be his aunt, who posted in this thread previously. Although I doubt she looks here any more (and may not be able to get any video, anyway).

Well maybe I should have been clear. I haven't paid for Scout.com, but I have a user name to post on their board. I might actually join this year just so I can see more players and argue on their boards about prospects.

This isn't football news, but I didn't think it was worth making a new post in the track and field forum.

Cory won the 100, Long Jump, and 4x100 at his district championships this weekend. In the 100, he set a PB at 10.81. He set personal bests earlier this season in the 400 (51.44), Long Jump (23'4), and Triple Jump (41'2, his first year for the event).
Not sure when the state competition is.

Whoa.
The board switch must've lost a lot of posts from this thread. I'm pretty sure I posted on Cory's first season for PSU, but the last message here is only as late as his high school career. Oh well, there was nothing good that happened for him last season, anyway.

But...

For the first time in a long time, some good news for Cory.
PSU Spring Game
The most obvious highlight of the day was the play of Cory McCaffrey at slotback. The sophomore-to-be caught six passes for 179 yards and three touchdowns. All three scores were on 45-yards strikes from quarterback Drew Hubel. The first two were post patterns in which McCaffrey simply beat the defense. The third score was perhaps the most impressive. McCaffrey caught a quick crossing screen, eluded several defenders and then beat everyone to the pylon.

Normally, a game-dominating performance like that in the Spring game will earn a player at least a tryout for a starting spot in Fall camp. Glanville completely wasted Cory's first season with a burned redshirt for just a few snaps, so I'm not gonna hold my breath. But it's no fault of Cory's that he's not on the field.

Yeah, I think some old threads and posts might have gotten deleted. I do remember you posting about Cory only having one catch his whole 1st season. He is so talented and should be playing his natural position of scatback not slot WR! There is no excuse for a player of Cory's ability to not be seeing the field for a very average FCS team.

Cory never had his own thread in the college football section.
This thread was practically his introduction to the internet, since a Google search of his name had this as the first result for years.

With his college football career over, Cory's chances of playing football again are slim. Here is an interview conducted with Cory after his achilles injury. He talks about his career and his possible future. It's obvious he still burns inside to play again. If not for Glanville, that would be a certainty. He was just that good. Perhaps he wouldn't have been a starter in the NFL, but his talent would've landed him a roster spot.

There was a similar "debriefing" article written about Cory in the Portland Tribune (some of which is quoted in the info box of the youtube video). It's a good read. Here's a bit from the second page:

While he has not ruled out a comeback attempt at the professional level, McCaffrey isn't sure if he will take another handoff.

“That’s what everyone is asking me,â€￾ he said. “I’ve thought about it. It depends on how this (rehabilitation) goes. It sounds like it’s going to be a long process before I’m ready to do anything like that.

“I don’t want to come back too soon and do something when I’m not ready. So the 'pro day' is out of the question. The combine is out of the question. But, by next year, I should be good.â€￾

After all the years of his life that he has given to football, can McCaffrey really walk away from the game? If he does not come back as a player, will he return as a coach? It is too soon for McCaffrey to answer those questions.

“A better time to ask me would be a year from now,â€￾ he said.
