a couple more predominantly White teams (that haven’t been mentioned yet i don’t think) are having strong starts to the season.

the Belmont Bruins are currently 7-0 but haven’t played a tough schedule. they have 10 players averaging double digit minutes, 7 of whom are gym rats. 3 of them start, including their 3 best players, sophomore Sam Orme, senior Tyler Lundblade, and junior Brigham Rogers. sophomore Drew Scharnowski is instant offense off the bench and plays starter minutes.

Saint Mary’s once again features a very White lineup. the Gaels are 7-0, despite starting 4 blue collar guys and only playing 1 WGA in their whole rotation. their best player in the early going has been Lithuanian junior Paulius Murauskas, but as is the norm for Randy Bennett, they haven’t played anyone yet.

Iowa got a good win last night over Grand Canyon, despite a subpar shooting night. their defense led the way, holding GCU to just 23 points in the first half before pitching a shutout for the first 5&1/2 minutes of the second half. in fact, the Hawkeyes only gave up 1 point off a free throw in the first 8 minutes of the second half.

an interesting note from the game: junior wing Dusty Stromer, a Gonzaga transfer, came off the bench with the task of guarding Iowa’s alpha, Bennett Stirtz. Stromer, a long, bouncy, sharp shooter never got much playing time with the Zags because the “experts” said “he couldn’t play defense.” well, he forced Stirtz into his worst shooting performance of the young season (5-15), and several of those made buckets came with Stromer getting a breather. “weird,” huh?

Iowa is still undefeated, but up next is a matchup with #11 Michigan State.

Tyler Lundblade is a fantastic player for Belmont. He has good size for a guard at 6 foot 5 and shot 48% from 3 last year, which is incredibly good! He is still shooting above 40% from deep so far this year in addition to averaging 16.6 points. Amazingly, he began his career as a walk-on at SMU...yet another example of one of our guys being overlooked out of high school.
Good point on Stromer, it was sad that he didn't develop more at Gonzaga. He was one of those guys who would have definitely been a star player for Gonzaga in years past yet now he was buried behind old transfers who weren't all that great. Stromer needs to shoot the ball better though.

let’s do a quick A vs B comparison to see how the Caste System permeates basketball, shall we?

Player A and Player B are both first year starters for Top Ten-ranked teams in the NCAA. they both play the same position, and their respective teams squared off last Saturday wherein they guarded each other most of the contest.

Player A (6-foot-9, 250 lbs) scored 18 points (7-13 shooting, 3-4 free throws) and hauled in 15 rebounds.
Player B (6-foot-11, 245 lbs) scored 16 points (7-13 shooting, 2-3 free throws).

Player A had 5 assists, 1 turnover, 2 steals, and 1 blocked shot before fouling out.
Player B had 1 assist, 0 turnovers, 0 steals, and 1 blocked shot while committing 1 foul.

Player A’s team defeated Player B’s team by 6 points.

although their numbers are similar, with better playmaking but more mistakes by Player A and better length and potential for improving the body by Player B, it’s clear both players are a dominant presence on the floor. that’s where things get “weird.”

Player A, a freshman, is considered a “transcendent” talent. Player B, a senior, isn’t even considered a draftable prospect.

Nebraska ended up beating the breaks off of Wisconsin, 90-60 win!! Honestly I am very impressed with the Cornhuskers. We at CF knew they would be a competitive White Friendly team, don’t think any of us expected a 10-0 start! Phenomenal start for Nebraska, last time they did that was ‘77-78 season.

We have discussed them a lot recently, but Nebraska is facing a top 15 Illinois team at 3 PM CST on Peacock/NBC Sports Network. This might be the Whitest Power 5 matchup of the year. As I and others have already said, Nebraska starts 4 Whites and their top 2 guys off the bench are also White. Illinois starts 3 Europeans, and all four of their bench players in the rotation are either American Whites or Europeans.

I knew about #23 Nebraska but #15 Illinois has slipped under my radar. Gonna try my best to tune in. It's a win/win no matter the outcome!

A pretty dark Texas Tech team gave Duke their first loss yesterday. The lone bright spot for Texas Tech was freshman guard Nolan Groves, who was +13 in plus minus in 13 minutes of game action yesterday - he will be a name to watch for the future. UNC big man Henri Veesar (formerly of Arizona) had 17 in a win over Ohio State yesterday. Dalin Hall (a BYU Transfer) had 20 points on perfect 8 of 8 shooting yesterday for Virginia. Iowa had a big win over Bucknell yesterday and were led in scoring by Alvaro Folguerias, who had 17. Purdue beat a ranked Arizona team by 28 with Braden Smith giving out 14 assists!

For today's action, Florida is currently up 13 in a pretty White friendly matchup with Colgate. If anyone wants a break from NFL football today, Notre Dame is playing at 2 PM EST, Clemson is playing at 3 EST, UConn and its two White starters are playing Depaul at 4:30 EST, Iowa State (starting 2 Whites) is playing at 6:30 EST, Gonzaga (starting 3 Whites) is playing Oregon at 6 EST, and very White Nebraska is actually facing one of the rare all White starting fives in North Dakota at 8 PM EST.

I haven't thought much about University of Virginia since the great coach Tony Bennett stepped away. Your mention of Dallin Hall, and UVA cracking the top 25, caused me to look into them further. Another team with a majority White starting lineup! The team's leading scorer is freshman forward Thijs De Ridder, who's averaging an excellent 15.1 ppg. The Belgian (a real one, not an invader!) seems to have a well rounded game, contributing on the glass and shooting nearly 40% from outside the arch. The 3rd White starter is freshman center Johann Grünloh who leads the team in rebound (7.3 per game) and blocks (2.7 per game). The German (a real one, not an invader!) 7 footer also contributes a solid 9.1 ppg. The Cavaliers should certainly be one of the more favorable teams in the new extended ACC (18 teams with many making no geographical sense).

Looking at some of the other top 25 teams in action yesterday, many were lead by White athletes as the "top performer".

#2 Michigan - Aday Mara
#4 Iowa State - Milan Momcilovic (up to over 18 ppg this year from 11; big jump)
#5 UConn - Alex Karaban
#13 Vanderbilt - Tyler Nickel
#15 Nebraska - Berke Büyüktuncel, triple-double! (most Cornhuskers game will have some White athlete leading them)

Good to see Ryan Odum continuing a trend of having a respectable amount of White players on Virginia teams. I guess it shouldn't be too shocking though considering he had an all White starting 5 at Utah State and even had several White players at VCU of all places.

Watched a little bit of the BYU and Eastern Washington game and guard Dawson Baker is unfortunately out for the season with a torn ACL - even less of a reason to support BYU now. Even worse, BYU just signed an Egyptian former G-League player who is apparently immediately eligible as he is playing tonight. Eastern Washington has also gotten much darker and sit at 2 wins and 10 losses on the year. It is a far cry from the Groves brothers leading the Eagles to the NCAA tournament. Their coach is Dan Monson, who originally took Gonzaga to their first Elite Eight (starting four Whites).

I think that the majority of the top 25 teams have a top player who is White, which is awesome to see.

1. Arizona - not the top players, but have 6th man Anthony Dell'Orso and 2 other Europeans who start.
2. Michigan - Mara (like you mentioned)
3. Iowa State - Momcilovic (like you mentioned - having a fantastic season so far this year...might be the best 3 point shooter in the country!)
4. UConn - Karaban (like you mentioned)
5. Purdue - Braden Smith (and a whole lot of other Whites)
6. Duke - not great this year for us unfortunately
7. Gonzaga - Braden Huff is their best player in my opinion (at least on offense)
8. Houston - nothing
9. Michigan State - Kohler is their leading scorer
10. BYU - Richie Saunders is either their best or second best player
11. Vanderbilt - Tyler Nickel averages 15 a game
12. UNC - Henry Veesaar averages 17 a game at center
13. Nebraska - Reink Mast is their best player
14. Bama - nothing
15. Texas Tech - not much
16. Louisville - Isaac McKneely is their 3rd leading scorer
17. Kansas - not much
18. Arkansas - not much
19. Tennessee - not much, but JP Estrella is their 3rd leading scorer
20. Illinois - your pick of which Euro is the best
21. Virginia - De Ridder is averaging 15 a game
22. Florida - Haugh and Condon are the leading scorers (top two bench players are both White too)
23. Georgia - Blue Cain is the 2nd leading scorer
24. USC - not much
25. Iowa - Bennett Stirtz is their best player

Of the top 25, 17 have a White player who I would at least consider to be a focal point of the team, if not the best player outright. This doesn't even really touch on the White supporting pieces that many of these teams have. It is a great time to be watching college basketball!

Women’s basketball is generally an ugly game played by ugly players. Caitlyn Clark is undoubtedly the only reason I’ve ever watched women’s basketball. In the process, I discovered some other interesting women players. But, they need to stay in their lane and ride CC’s coattails.

Attendance was listed at 3,941 with a seating capacity of 13,611. So, 28% full. I'm surprised that there was that many if that's even accurate.
Probably paid attendance. Which mean there was most likely less than 3,900.

Yeah, she really is something else! Hopefully Iowa State keeps feeding the pipeline with local corn fed players like Cooks. Very robust in state recruiting seems to light a fire in the belly of most programs.

The Miami (of Ohio) RedHawks entered the AP Poll at #25 with a colossal 19-0 record to start their season (20-0 right now). I took a peek at their secret sauce.

Their star is 6'8 redshirt sophomore wing Brant Byers, who at 15 ppg on 43% 3PM% will surely take a few million bucks to up-transfer next year (since the NBA isn't interested). The team's second, third, and fourth-leading scorers are also some measure of under-recruited whites. I can't quite tell what their ideal rotation looks like due to an injury, but needless to say, this team will make for an enthusiastic rooting interest in the March Madness bracket for which they seemed determined to qualify.
