NCAA officially has a free agency period. At least some of our guys will be able to get out of bad situations to hopefully play under better circumstances.

According to Nicole Auerbach of The Athletic, the NCAA's Division I Council has approved the one-time transfer waiver rule for all athletes.

The change, which won't become official until the end of Thursday's meeting, is long overdue. Athletes who are transferring for the first time will now be eligible immediately at their next stop. Any subsequent transfers after that, and the athlete would be required to sit out a season (unless they're a grad transfer). Another change that has been made by some conferences recently was the elimination of additional penalties for athletes transferring from one member school to another. In some instances, an athlete transferring within the conference would have to sit out an additional season and/or lose a season of eligibility.

I can't recall the last time the McCaffrey brothers were mentioned here. Dylan transferred to Northern Colorado in the Big Sky conference to play for his father Ed. The Big Sky initially intended to have a spring football season, for which I believe Dylan would have been hypothetically eligible. However, NCU decided to cancel its season for covid and instead held extended spring practices, including a couple of closed scrimmages against junior colleges. The team plans to start again in the fall.

Here is the unofficial "insider" version of Dylan McCaffrey leaving Michigan. Dylan spent the 2020 summer offseason in Colorado, training with his family. He returned for August practices and was apparently still the frontrunner for the job over black quarterback Joe Milton, who had stayed on campus and trained with ex-Wolverine black quarterback Devin Gardner, who is now a non-coaching staff member. The Big Ten announced that it would cancel its football season for flu precautions, expecting to get a jump on the woke trend. McCaffrey and his parents attended some in-person "protests" on campus to rally on behalf of the players. The total hiatus was less than a couple weeks, if I recall correctly, as the Big Ten acquiesced and reversed its decision to play. Michigan did not cease practices, as the school was open to the contingent of playing outside of the conference structure.

At some point in this short span, Dylan felt exhausted and generally unwell and told the coaches as much. This part of the story is mostly hearsay; apparently, Harbaugh and his staff were skeptical of the self-diagnosis and pushed him to continue practicing "asymptomatically." This became a line in the sand. Once Dylan and his family perceived that his health wasn't being taken seriously in a time of peak covid hysteria, they all decided in unison he would not play for Harbaugh's staff any further. Ed had a solid competing offer: play for him in the spring and help him build his first program close to home. Michigan's staff quickly pivoted to its Milton hype, which obviously didn't work out either. Days later, the Big Ten reinstated its season. McCaffrey remained enrolled in school through the semester, and it seems like he could have reconsidered his transfer if Harbaugh had been axed in November, but that's all water under the bridge now.

As for Luke, he transferred to Louisville. I've never been a fan of the program, but they've certainly played some dual-threat QB's there over the years.

Crazy to see that Purdy has dropped to 10th best pro prospect after he was viewed as a 1st rounder prior to last season. Great work @TwentyTwo !

I just did a headcount of Clemson's spring roster and it was 57 whites & 58 blacks. Is there another major college team that can match these numbers?
https://clemsontigers.com/sports/football/roster/
Well, they just lost one black/mixed player in Chez Mellusi. He's entered the transfer portal. This could possibly clear the the way for more playing time for Will Shipley or they could red shirt him. We'll see?

it would be interesting to note how many of the White athletes are on scholarships compared to their black peers. many football teams have loads of White walk-ons on their rosters, but according to Caste doctrine they reserve the vast majority of their scholarships (sic) for blacks.

Right. JC. D-1 college football can offer 85 total athletic scholarships. So if theirs a total of 115 players on the roster, 30 are walk-ons and receive no money as D-1 cannot give half for athletics and half or academics as D-1AA/FCS can. So, I would say that the majority if not all of the 30 walk-ons are white. The reasons for this are, they know they can get some good white athletes without having to give them full rides, because their parents will pay the tuition. Most blacks do not have the money or the grades to get into D-1 schools.
D-1AA /FCS programs can only offer 63 scholarships. What FCS does is get as many blacks on full athletic scholarships and reserve half athletic and half academic for the white players that can qualify academically. Most of the FCS Scholarships offered to my son were were a combination of athletic and academic because his grades and GPA were way up there to qualify.

Man if someone wanted to challenge the requirements for athletic scholarships legally I have a feeling that it would really shift the landscape of the game. There is no proof that stacking a team with black players equates to have a better, more competitive football team yet every FBS school does this and so many of these schools are downright awful every season. Athletic scholarships truly are a form of black privilege and many of these black athletes squander the opportunity yet the cycle continues both on the field and off the field.

It sounds like the FCS scholarship method really disciminates against white athletes t00.

I think there’s a 0% chance he gets redshirted, I’ve been snooping around looking at articles about him since he arrived at Clemson and it sounds like he’s going to get playing time, and A LOT of it. I can’t wait to see him play, and this just makes that path even easier for him.

Zero news on Zane Dudek.....

This article is likely in the Dudek thread or somewhere else, but it's good to run it again as it lightly treads on a very taboo subject that the media usually takes great pains to avoid. I particularly like that the writer acknowledges that fans and high school coaches are aware of the racism that exists against Whites in recruiting:

Why doesn't Zane Dudek have major-college scholarship offers?

by Mike White October 21, 2016

With each passing week, with every record that he breaks, Zane Dudek simply adds more to the great mystery of Western Pennsylvania high school football this fall.

It’s not a whodunnit. It’s more about who hasn’t done it. Why in the name of baffling recruiting stories has not one major-college football program offered Dudek a scholarship?

Dudek is a senior running back at Armstrong High School who is having a season like no running back in WPIAL history. Despite his lofty credentials, his gaudy rushing statistics, his records, his beating up on some tough competition from big schools, despite his championship-sprinter speed, his decent size, his grade-point average above 4.0, Dudek has been snubbed by big-time colleges.

Why, why, why? At first, Dudek will say the mystery doesn’t bother him. But it does. He is Zane, but he is trying not to turn in Zane.

“It’s frustrating because, like, I don’t know,” said Dudek. “I thought I had done everything I could possibly do in my power to be recruited by Division I-A [FBS] colleges. I don’t know honestly. I just don’t know.”

But Zane’s world has company. Everyone from fans to opposing coaches also are miffed by Dudek’s lack of big-time offers. Albany, an Football Championship Subdivision (Division I-AA) college, offered Dudek a scholarship last Saturday. Ivy League and Patriot League schools want him. But there are no scholarships from major colleges — and practically no interest, although Penn State has invited him to attend Saturday’s game against Ohio State.

Highly respected coaches in the WPIAL have trouble understanding.

“He’s top-level Division I, no question,” said Penn-Trafford coach John Ruane, who also used to be an assistant at Gateway. “I’ve seen a lot of guys not as good as him go to Pitt or Penn State from around here. … Of all the guys I’ve gone against as a coach, [Woodland Hills] Rob Gronkowski and [McKeesport’s] Khaleke Hudson are the two I’ve been impressed by the most. This kid’s right up there with them as a player.”

But to fully appreciate the story of Dudek’s recruiting snub, one needs to consider his credentials:

• He is averaging 307 yards rushing a game this season and has 2,461 on 238 carries. He should break the WPIAL single-season rushing record of 2,765 yards, set by Clairton’s Lamont Wade in 2014. Dudek is the fourth-leading rusher in WPIAL history with 6,483 yards and his 218 points ties for the WPIAL regular-season scoring record, set 68 years ago. He set a WPIAL single-game record with 492 yards.

Many WPIAL players have run for big yardage, but against Class 1A opponents. Armstrong, a merger of Ford City and Kittanning high schools, is in its second year and plays 5A.

• If it’s speed colleges are looking for, consider that Dudek won the WPIAL Class 3A 100-meter dash in the spring with a time of 10.88 seconds. At the same meet, Clairton’s Wade ran the 100 in 11.13 seconds and Beaver’s Darius Wise 10.99. Wade has scholarship offers from schools across the country for defensive back and Wise has a few FBS offers.

Dudek has run the 40-yard dash below 4.5 a few times and ran a 4.43 this summer.

• If it’s size colleges want, consider Dudek’s 5-foot-10, 190-pound frame.

• If it’s versatility and athletic ability colleges want, consider Dudek also is a standout defensive back. In the spring, Dudek ran track and also played outfielder on the Armstrong baseball team, and led the team in hitting.

• If it’s grades, consider Dudek has a 4.4 grade-point average.

“It is a little tough to figure out [Dudek’s recruitment] just from the fact of when you look at his measurables,” Armstrong coach Frank Fabian said.

Thomas Jefferson defeated Armstrong in the first round of last year’s WPIAL playoffs and Dudek had only 39 yards rushing. But Thomas Jefferson’s Bill Cherpak, one of the winningest coaches in WPIAL history, thinks highly of Dudek’s talents.

“There’s nothing the kid can’t do,” said Cherpak. “I think a lot of big schools should be drooling over him. How about the MAC [Mid-American Conference] schools? It’s amazing how close-minded some people are.”

Chris Eiswerth is the coach at South Williamsport High and said Dudek’s story sounds strikingly similar to that of Dominick Bragalone, who ran for 4,704 yards two seasons ago. It is the second-best single-season yardage total in U.S. high school football history. But Bragalone never got one major-college scholarship offer. Bragalone was 5-11, 210 pounds and showed lots of speed.

“[Dudek] is the same story,” said Eiswerth. “It was hard to figure out with Dom, too. Just nobody would offer him, but things have worked out for him.”

Bragalone is a sophomore at Lehigh (FCS school) and rushed for more than 1,000 yards as a freshman.

Joe Butler has run Metro Index Scouting service in Pittsburgh for more than three decades and said, “Am I surprised [Dudek] doesn’t have any offers yet from big schools? A little bit, just because he’s having such a great year and he’s productive against good teams. But I think after Thanksgiving when colleges can evaluate more thoroughly, those offers might come.”

When discussing Dudek’s recruiting, there is a subject that, rightly or wrongly, often gets brought up privately. There is a perception with fans and even high school coaches that there is a bias against white halfbacks in major-college recruiting. Whether that bias exists or not, the perception is there.

"College coaches are like anybody. They don't want to get fired," Butler said. "They are looking to win football games. I don't think [race] is a factor in this."

Dudek did not want to comment on the matter, other than to say he wonders about it. A handful of high school coaches contacted for this story did not want to comment on the record but said they believe there is definitely a bias against white running backs in recruiting.

“Is it one of those things that’s done deliberately? Probably not,” said Cherpak. “But I can tell you that there have been times that a college coach has called me over the years to ask about a player and one of the questions they ask is, ‘What color is he?’ So what does that tell you?

“The thing is, and I tell our players this, that it will take only one college coach to fall in love with you and offer. Do I think it will happen with Dudek? I think somebody has to notice the amazing things he’s doing.”

It's too bad those high school coaches all decided to remain anonymous rather than make it an issue. Shouldn't these coaches be worried when a talented athlete is not getting the chance he deserves based upon skin color? It's obvious many know the score but are unwilling to upset the status quo.

I can't find anything on Dudek either. From this article it looks like Ivy League players have been granted a one time waiver due to the "pandemic". I do hope to see Dudek suit up one more year for the Bulldogs. I know @Shadowlight and @DynamicRollover were both following Yale Football and Dudek closely. Hopefully they both return to the site.

The Dudek article sickens me.
I did see his running mate Lamar transferred to Ark St.
I wonder how or if it’ll effect Pare.....I don’t think so.

Here’s another Zane Dudek type article.
You guys mentioned Luepke earlier in the thread....
Breaking records running the ball, but the Pu$$y, afraid of blacklash, white coaches and recruiters pass and he ends up a fullback.

Now he is tearing it up......Surprise to no one here...
How awesome would Bragalone have been at Penn St
Dudek would have been a cult figure at Pitt.
Don’t you think Zenner would have been a big ten all star?

The games weren’t worth a crap.
ND St lost....All other running backs are FL and TX recruits.
