It's official. Joe Burrow wins the heisman! Very well deserved. Congrats to this outstanding young man who is by far the best qb in the country!

Burrow won in a gigantic landslide. More like Joe and the Three Dwarfs. Ha.
ESPN as we know is lost. Two absurd scrolls today. One is that Ohio State Heisman candidate DE Chase Young is contemplating going back to Ohio State next year. The number one or two pick in the draft ( with Joe Burrow in the same mix) does anyone seriously think he will return to school? Good grief.
Then they scrolled LeBron James was planning on attending his son's high school basketball game. Talk about useless information.

Joe Burrow set the SEC single-season record for most pass TD (48) and pass yards (4,715). He is the 1st player in SEC history to throw at least 4,000 yards and 40 TD in a season. Now Burrow joins Billy Cannon (1959) as the only players in LSU history to win the Heisman Trophy.

What sticks out most for me here? S Tanner Muse ( one of the Stud Brothers) making third team. There are so few white safeties in college football these days.

Just a "minor" rumor for now but it was thrown out there that Kiffin may change Plumlee's position. To put this in perspective when it was suggested by long time NFL man Bill Polian before the draft that Lamar Jackson should change positions there was immediate media outrage. "How dare you" exclaimed the media and they have reminded Polian ever since of his "ghastly comment."
The new Mizzou coach is rumored to be pulling $4m per year, I got a snippet of his news conference, oh boy. Let me say I will stand by what I said football coaches at that level and the NFL is one of the bigger scams that I can rattle off the top of my head. Second tier SEC money, second tier SEC exposure, perhaps the hottest cheerleaders in the SEC (more important than you think) so this guy will convince a few "Stars" that they will get exposure, their street agents/corrupt recruiter will get a deal on a Cadillac Escalade and the conservative mopes who prop up this stupid shindig get bent over by the usual campus marxists, and the "coach" scamster gets set for life.

I want to go back in time. I'll call this Memory Lane! When things seem bleak like they do these days I tend to get sentimental about the past.
Hard to believe now but there was a time when the Power 5 schools would have tremendous white wide receivers scattered around. Think Big Ten circa 1997. Iowa speedster Tim Dwight was a senior and Purdue's speedster Vinnie Sutherland was an emerging freshman. Dwight was picked in the 4th round in the 1998 draft. Both had supersonic speed and blew by Big Ten defenders. Electrifying white wide receivers playing at the big schools and getting to touch the ball on a consistent basis. Imagine that? Seems like it was 100 years ago.

Vinny made a huge splash at Purdue. A lethal punt returner in his junior year he led the country in yards per return with an otherworldly 16.4 average. Vinny made his presence known early which is almost unheard now if you consider the past couple of years. Is UCLA's Kyle Philips following in his footsteps. Does he have that kind of speed?
Sutherland's WR stats read as such:
1997-34-357-2
1998-31-301-3
1999-39-698-7
2000-72-1014-13
He exploded his senior year and returned kickoffs to go along with punt returns. After his sensational senior year where he was a big play waiting to happen he was drafted in the 5th round by the Falcons, the same team that drafted Dwight. Both were only around 5'8" plus or so but neither was skinny. Vinny displayed his speed at the combine running a 4.48 40 yard dash.
Dwight had just been traded by the Falcons so Vinny was set to replace him. They promptly cut him. He ended up with the 49ers in 2001 and became a top flight punt and kick off return man but never got a chance at receiver.
He got into a car accident while driving drunk and pretty much disappeared off the face of the earth after the 49ers and another team or two let him go by the wayside. He hurt his hamstring and I guess the powers to be decided the NFL only needed one "Tim Dwight" type and Vinny was sent to the great white gravesite in the sky where promising white athletes die a quick death.
But for a while there Vinny gave me hope. Which is better than having a bleak landscape with little to hang your hat on.

The Ivy League named their All American teams earlier in the month. Some notable offensive skill players
First team--the dynamic unstoppable WR duo of Reed Klubnik and JP Shohfi of Yale made first team.
Second team--WR Drew Estrada(Dartmouth), WR Jacob Birmelin (Princeton), WR Ryan Cragun (PENN) and RB Zane Dudek (Yale).
Spitfire Birmelin will be a senior next season and he is also a special teams star. Look for the now healthy Dudek to go out in style in 2020.
Both Estrada and Shohfi are deluxe special teams players. Will the NFL take notice?
Cragun will only be a junior next year.
The most entertaining conference in college football in my mind. Teams racially look like the NFL from the 60's. The Harvard-Yale thriller has already gained mythic status.

But to hear that EJ Smith (Emmit’s son)was also in the same class makes me scratch my head...
Shipley had been rumored to consider Stanford....Hopefully not now...
Notre Dame would be great or even one of the Carolina schools.....He could start as a freshman in state, not likely at ND.....They still may switch him to slot.....

Looks like perennial powerhouse Wisconsin-Whitewater lost to North Central(ILL). Good win for their program, 1st Championship for them.
Whitewater has a WR on it's roster named Sam Delany that was with The Badgers for a year as a walk-on. He had a nifty return last night, almost took it to the house.
His return is at 7:40 mark, but the highlights this guy put together are top notch. North Central had a White RB in Greenfield and a shifty Slot WR in Kaminsky.

Some good news today for the University of Arizona. They will now have both Schooler Brothers playing for them. One is a stud on defense while the other will play wide receiver!

Excellent! He's a versatile player, no doubt about it. I watched the short clip with his position coach talking about him and it seems like he made a good choice in Arizona. Called him a great athlete and complimented his top end speed! Even said they might play him some on Defense which would be pretty friggin cool.

I wish Schooler would go back to DB - he would of been an all conference Safety if Taggart had not converted him to WR. Hopefully he develops a good rapport with promising young QB Grant Gunnell.

The more things shake out I think he should declare. You figure Tua(despite his very serious injury) will go Top5 as should Burrow. Herbert then is probably in Top15range and of course Hurts will be a 1st rounder too. After that it's pretty wide open for Eason to rise up to that 2nd round range, I know I'm a homer but I wouldn't mind GB grabbing him in the 2nd. He'd be an upgrade over Boyle imo. So would Patterson who I know you and Shadowlight like a lot.

In a surprise move Mike Leach is the new head coach at Mississippi State.
Will be an interesting case study to watch this teams makeup in the coming years coached by a historically white friendly leaning Leach. They’ve averaged only a little over 2 white starters the last 15 years.
