I second that Shadowlight. It seems a lot of our guys are just plain naive to the caste system they're up against. It's good to have confidence in yourself but these recruits have got to look at the bigger picture, which sometimes means spurning some of the traditional powerhouses for smaller ones with more guaranteed playing time and room for growth. I'd argue Martell's career was finished as soon as he chose to be a Buckeye. A school that worships Black QBs, he never had a chance. I'd like to see Martell end up in The MAC(NIU?!) even FCS.
All Martell is doing is looking at flashy, big time schools and picking them. Martell needs to be looking at schools where 1)he has a good chance of playing right away 2) the team has a pass first offensive system which will allow him to showcase his ability. So basically, pick a place which will be a showcase for his skills. That type of team will NOT be a big time program.(think Josh Allen at Wyoming) .
There are about 130 fbs teams and 124 fcs teams. He can't find a school to showcase him out of 254 programs. Nonsense.
Martell could transfer to a low ranking fbs school. He would have to sit out another year. But he is already a third year sophomore.
I think he should transfer to a top 20 fcs school that has a winning tradition. An fcs school that is focused on a passing offense- which would increase the chance of having good receivers.
He can get to the NFL via the FCS. Devlin Hodges, of fcs Samford, is playing for the Steelers. Hopefully, he will do something like this. But Martell would have to change his thinking process about himself and college football, which is unlikely.
