Well, Heretic was right. It appears Brett Kittrell and Jack Begley won't be receiving offers, because Nebraska is in on "better athletes." However, they didn't have a problem with offering an in-state black DT for 2018 already. I'm through with reading Nebraska message boards. I'm absolutely sick of them demeaning and tossing aside Nebraska kids as not being "good enough" to play for the Huskers, despite the huge numbers of Nebraska kids starring for other schools, like Iowa, Stanford, and North Dakota State. However, they're shoe-ins for offers if they have the right pigmentation.
Here's how one Nebraska Sportscuckster described the 2018 DL prospect who accepted 30 seconds after being offered a scholarship by the Nebraska head and DL coach:
From my perspective, Mapieu landed his offer based off of how he projects. He performed well tonight, but I wouldn’t say that he was flat out dominant. He is still a very raw player in pretty much every aspect. However, you see glimpses of what he can become in the way that he moves in his massive frame that is still maturing and it just doesn’t make sense to drag your feet on offering.
He is of Sudanese descent, born in Egypt, and just one of the tens of thousands deliberately placed into mostly White states and areas all across the country, every year.
Here's just how "raw" he was against another White OL prospect (who wasn't offered by Nebraska), as described by another writer:
The other is Des Moines (Iowa) Dowling Catholic's Zach Ross (6-2 1/2, 286) who was fierce against Mapieu, twisting him around and tossing him to the ground in a one-on-one situation.
So, Mapieu, the guy who is
"raw...in...every respect" and
not "flat out dominant" is offered and accepts a scholarship, but OL Zach Ross, who impressed, was not. Obviously, just another example of "White Privilege".
There were a bunch other White players besides Kitrell and Begley that had great camps, but none were offered, including a WR and RB, both of whom ran back-to-back 4.4/40's.
Kitrell measured in at 6'4 271 lbs and, with the exception of being stood still on just one rush by another high quality OL prospect, he won his battles, showing very good quickness and power. Is Nebraska saying that they couldn't develop him into an even better player after a year or two in the weight room, a couple of years of reps under the supervision of the DL coach and complete knowledge of the defensive playbook? The article then mentions 2-3 other DL with the requisite skin pigmentation (black) from Texas and another couple of ones with the same pigmentation from other Nebraska high schools that have either been offered or are on the radar.
Here's what another Nebraska Sportscuckster says about another White 2017 DE prospect from Ohio who has 15 offers from other schools, including Connecticut:
Dan Sichterman -- was among a strong group of offensive and defensive linemen at the camp. Sichterman has offers from Connecticut and Youngstown State, among others; he was better than most of the tackles, zipping or ripping by most of them. He'd be a grayshirt/walk-on type for NU, most likely.
If he were black, a scholarship would already be a foregone conclusion.
At this point, if I was a White football player at the high school level in Nebraska, I wouldn't even bother going to one of their camps unless I was QB, OL, or TE.
