You beat me to it Highlander! I've been following Stanton for a little bit now, this guy will be a great player for Nebraska. I'm glad Nebraska got this kid; I've heard comparisons to Tim Tebow and Scott Frost. He won a state title his 1st year as a starting QB. He's really thick, and can just truck people! Probably the wrong thread to adding anything about Mickey Mitchell, but there's alot of talk out there about him being a 16 year old freshman and playing 14U basketball at 16. I'm not sure this true or not. Maybe someone knows.

I admittedly don't know much about high school basketball, but I would think being 16 in September of your freshman year of high school gives one a big advantage!

Are you saying "sour grapes", because he's really 14 and he's that good or because he is 16 and beating up on 14 year olds?

To me, what would be impressive, is, if he were 14 playing and dominating 16 year olds!

I'm not trying to be a smart a$$, but I don't care about whether Lebron or D. Wade lied or cheated about their age. That's typical for them.

this'll be my last comment on basketball in this thread (i promise!). i don't personally know Mickey Mitchell, but i do know a LOT of kids who play AAU ball and parents whose kids play AAU ball. that being said, the age group stuff is VERY strict on players being the proper age. as it gets to the high school level, it's not nearly as important (and thus you have a lot of old blacks playing). but at the U12, U14, U16, or whatever levels any kid who "looks too old" or "too good" can be challenged as legitimate. and the coach/parent is supposed to provide the birth certificate to validate his inclusion.

if their were any truth to Mickey being too old, from my experience he wouldn't have been allowed to play in the youth leagues. now, if he's an old high schooler that's a whole other story.

Justin Webster, the 6' 1" rb/olb/s prospect has committed to Iowa State. He is to big for safety and has run multiple 4.4 forties at different camps. He may project as an outside lb withthe size speed ratio but this kid is pretty elusive and very fast to the hole. My guess is he will wind up as a starting tailback 2 to 3 years down the road. He is no Burkhead but he has the speed and power to get those extra yards after contact. :flypig:

2 more athletes getting some serious attention are one I mentioned many times before and a new 5'10" wr/option qb out of oklahoma in Hunter Atyia. This kid is cat-quick and really can cut and accelerate. If he does not go to Air Force as a qb he will be a big time slot wr for a Big 10 team. Recruiting steam is picking up and he may even wind up in Minnesota.
The other kid I have mentioned is West Virginia rb David Gaydosz. He told me through Facebook he is going to Ohio but is waiting for other bigger school offers. The more I watch the kid he reminds me of a taller Maurice Jones-Drew. He just has all the tools and just has jukes and spin moves that are quicker than I have eve seen at the high school level. The caste knock on him is he is only 5'10" and 185 lbs. and that he plays in a small " non-athletic state". Who gives a crap if a white, Hispanic or black guy is coming to tackle you and you have the ability to cut on a pebble and spin away and slash past the next guy. The caste media is so hung up on size and speed but don't look at the raw ability to make people miss at any level. Just more caste B.S. .

I found an obscure cb prospect out of Texas named Ty Branch. He is a 5'11" 188 lb. player who has committed to Rice. Sadly Rivals has him as a safety but Scout has him as a corner. All his Hudl highlights are him from the corner position. He is very good in coverage but also displays a knack for knowing where the play is really going and bypasses secondary receivers to move up in run support on the primary guy. Lets hope he stays at corner.

Another wr commit, Trent Taylor is going to Louisiana Tech. He's not as big or athletic as last year's commit Grant Childress, but he's got excellent moves and quickness in the open field. He'll make a great slot receiver.

Great job Mighty Joe and KS. I mentioned small school prospect from NJ named Anthony Cioffi who is really athletic as an option qb and kick returner. I have read at least 4 different recent articles that Rutgers is 100 % going to keep him as a corner back. He is listed as a 3 star safety by Rivals but he is really fast/quick has long arms and just has great feet. He would be a great rb if not for is slender frame. It looks like we have Fertita, Spencer, DelBezio, Cioffi, Schilleci and Branch now with offers from D1 schools for corner back. Expect Matt Sisco, Jay Schneider, Derek Lord, Kyle Tartar, Mike Jurado and Tanner Jacobsen to follow suit. They all may not wind up at corner but this is the best year in a long time for the small revival of the white cb. Also Tanner Gentry committing to Wyoming has a good chance of staying a corner. Spencer is clearly a top 5 talent and I hope he shines at Kansas.

Eric Beisel, a 6-4, 235-pound linebacker with 4.5 speed from Fenton (MO) Rockwood Summit, is regarded as one of the top linebackers in the Midwest.

he currently has offers from 9 schools, including Arkansas, Nebraska, and Missouri.

Hunter Henry, a 6-6, 235-pound tight end from Pulaski Academy (Little Rock, AR; class of 2013) committed to the Arkansas Razorbacks last week. regarded as one of the top tight ends in the nation, Henry is a pass-catching playmaker with good speed for a big guy (reports vary from 4.7 to 4.8 in the 40), hauling in 64 receptions for 1,091 yards and 16 touchdowns as a junior for the 4A state champion Bruins. he had 45 catches for 748 yards and 10 touchdowns as a sophomore.

more comfortable as a receiver than a blocker, Henry was usually split out wide at PA (ala Dallas Clark for the Indianapolis Colts). he picked up most of his yardage after the catch, as well.

Henry had offers from more than 25 schools, including Stanford, Notre Dame, Florida, Oklahoma, Alabama, and Auburn.

Finished second in California with 192 tackles as a 2011 junior, helping Monrovia (Calif.), to the CIF-SS title. Added eight sacks, four forced fumbles, and caught eight passes and had a touchdown. Named All-State, All-CIF and All-Southern California as well as CIF-SS Defensive Player of the Year.

And a 4.0 GPA.
