That's a 10.10 basic time(0 wind) it's not bad but he should be at least 10.00 basic time at his peak in this season. How was the race? bad start and then strong finish?

That is an excellent time and especially for England. The weather is always weird and the times are usually slow. I'm suprised Chambers ran that fast. Dwain has been horrible all year. He must be back on his special vitamins. Lol. I still think Christophe goes sub 10 soon. Probably his next race. He ran that 10.07 virtually all on his own in colder weather, little wind and little competition. It shows continued progress. It will be interesting if Vicaut runs slower. At least we know both of these guys will run at worlds and have a chance to go through the rounds normally. I really want to see Christophe put up some times like he did a few years ago and I think he will.

I think 10.07 on 0.6 isn't verry good,of course is not bad but isn't something amazing. If he can get a 10.00 or a little under that basic time at world championships will be great!

Lemaitre 10.10 basic time, like i told, he is "weak" in 100m, in 200 he will get better things.

Vicaut amazing 10.28 with -4.1 m/s, it is 9.98 basic time¡¡¡¡¡¡
Really he is better than Lemaitre in 100, sure.

The better way to compare times is not to convert using wind speed and Basic Time charts but to compare the results of the other competitors with their PB or season's best. This way track conditions, temperature, humidity (plus a typical positive wind) are all taken into consideration. The conditions in Viacut's race was worth about 0.20 seconds for an equivalent of 10.08. Not significantly different from Christophe's time.

vicaut is turning into a beast! That is a 9.95, with say, a positive 1.0 wind....lemaitre's french record will fall soon...but, from what i see, the advantage vicaut has over lemaitre is due to better coaching and training at the start of his development. look on youtube at jimmy doing heavy strength work in 2011 when he was about 18-19. he worked on building a strong foundation before working on speed, and technique, where as lemaitre was running cones because his coach thinks like a trainer 40 years ago. leamitre just started his strength phase, and hopefully it is not too late...i still think lemaitre can run under 9.90

Freddie im sorry but no.
Vicaut is in better shape in 100 that Lemaitre without doubt.
The record of France this year will not broken, because that 9.92 with 2.0 wind is not for Vicaut yet.
But if Vicaut continues this progression soon he will be sub 9.9

Lemaitre is only good runner 100, but a wonderful runner 200.
I see it very sure.

Who gives a flying s--t about Jimmy Vicaut? I have no idea why people keep posting about him. This isn't an all-purpose "Runners under the French flag" message board. Usain Bolt and Tyson Gay are far superior to Vicaut. If you're going to ignore the reason for the board altogether, why not post about them instead?

trackster im great fan of Lemaitre, but im realistic and i like to explain the things.
And all that i tell is that the big succes for Lemaitre will come from 200m, im sure.
Of course he should to train 100m too, for to get potence, powerful steps since beginning and good times in this event, but he will not get medals in 100m in WC or OG.

I must in Lemaitre for 19.7 this year in a a big final and a possible medal.

And if he gets some sub10 this year, it will be great too but i dont wait wonderful times in 100m because is not his strong event sure.

Regards

Thanks trackster. You beat me to it. This board was created to give support to our european brothers and sisters. Nothing wrong with the other sprinters and athletes but every other sports board in the world talks endlessly about them while 99% of the time they ignore our white athletes that we love. We need to stay focused on sprinters and athletes of european ancestry only. I'm not saying an occasional comment or two is wrong but too many posters are talking about the other guys far too much. One other thing guy. I value each and everyone coming here and their input but please keep the track discussions about other track people to the other track threads like "2013 outdoor season" or "ones to watch". We should be talkiing about Christophe on a Christope Lemaitre thread. Imagine a Usain Bolt Thread where everyone talked about Tyson Gay or Yohan Blake. Please stick to talking about Lemaitre on this Christophe Lemaitre thread and talk about the other sprinters in the other track threads.

The last thing I have to say about Jimmy Vicaut. He might be a little bit ahead of Lemaitre at the moment but I would bet money that Christophe will run faster than him by the world champs. Vicaut looks to me like he is already at his peak condition for the summer while Lemaitre gets faster with every race.

Mark my words. Christophe will go sub 10 and sub 20 this year and he will beat his french teammate Vicaut at the World Champs in Moscow!

White lightning, my opinion:

I doubt that Lemaitre is faster that Vicaut in 100m in Moscow, but well, it is posibble, but in this moment i dont think it.
sub10?yes, it is possible that this year he gets sub10 but in WC i doubt it.
And in 200m , no sub20, i go tell sub 19.8

Here is a video interview with Christophe Lemaitre after the French 4 x 100 Relay team finished a dissapointing 4th in the Relay at the European Championships. England won behind a strong performance by Gemeli. Germany took the silver with Poland taking the bronze medal. Both of these teams looked great. The french team just looked out of sync.

Notice in the interview that Christophe states that he wants to go sub 10 and sub 20 soon! Great news from PepeleFlew.

I feel a sub 20 tommorow on the final day of the Euro Team Champs. I know I'm asking alot of Christophe it will be third race in three days but I have a strong gut feeling. I would put money on it unless their is really bad weather with a strong negative wind. My prediciton for
tommorow is a 19.99! That would be a great place to continue to build on for the French National Champs and then the World Champs in Moscow, Russia.

Here is a great twitter pic promoting the final day of competition.

It looks like CL is a little more jacked than he was a few years ago. I don't know if that's a good or bad thing, but anyway I hope he reaches and exceeds his goals.

I don't mind so much if he surrenders the 100 if he becomes a real force in the 200. It's hard to do both, though some do. Maybe he doesn't stand a chance so much of beating Michael Johnson's roided out record (same fate befell J Wariner when he was in his prime) but as long as CL stays a prominent figure in athletics I think he's done his job.

The only way it seems for a roid record to fall, is if another roider does it.

Sorry guys, but Christophe don't run alone !!! And Vicaut is a great motivation for Lemaitre ! So it's normal to talk about Vicaut, because he can "boost" Lemaitre !!!! It's really important for Lemaitre...

Good time in bad conditions for Lemaitre.
I hope that in Paris he gets sub20 :icon_wink:

I hope he runs sub 20 soon ... Tyson Gay ran 19.74 and Warren Weir ran 19.79 slowing down in Yamaica. Bolt, Weir Gay, and others are going to be a big problem for Christophe in Moscow in the 200 meters.

Yes elispeedster, the level is hight in 200m and Lemaitre probably should to be in 19.70 minimum for medal.
But for me it will be easier that in 100 because Bolt and Gay will be in 9.6-9.7 almost sure,Gatlin 9.8 low or 9.7 hight and Blake if he is more or less in good shape easily 9.8 low, and several runners sub 10.
Lemaitre for to get sub 10 is very hard.

Without doubt his chance for medal are a lot of higher in 200 than 100m

Below the video for the 200m race.

Very bad start (I'd say even worst than usually), but incredible last 100m.

He looks like more powerfull than before (more muscled). May be he gained muscles but he still has problem to deal with his new body shape, he that disturb him in the start phase.
