Announcers "an awful, awful start for lemaitre. He's down 2 or 3 meters at 30 meters." "But his second half was astonishing." "This is why he'll be a great 200 meter specialist one day." etc.

Given the usual camera angle, I probably couldn't see as well as the announcers, so it wasn't obvious to me that he'd lost the race from the start. What WAS obvious was that he was a mile back at 40 meters in an absolutely hopeless position, but fought his way back to finish third.

His time was 9.95, but he ran a Guliyev-like first half. Beaten by the ENORMOUS roid-freak, Asafa Powell, who ran the fastest time in the world this year. I have to say I was a bit disappointed. Conditions were perfect. Great opponents. A nice legal following wind. A fast track. But at 30 meters he looked like he was walking.

Well in resume:

AMAZING POWELL 9.78
smiley22.gif

SURPRISING FRATER 9.88
smiley3.gif

VERY GOOD LEMAITRE 9.95
smiley20.gif

Well being sincere, is very good time again for Lemaitre and running against several best runners of the world.
Incredible Powell with one of his best races of his life, 9.78.
And Frater fantastic time 9.88.
Only is sad that Lemaitre had very bad first 30-40 meters.
Today if he run better the first half race we are seeing 9.90¡¡¡¡

Congratulations Lemaitre, another french record, although tied, and now you are a constant sub10 runner

Well, I'm not totaly disappointed.

- 9.95 with a bad 30 meters, it's promising.
- Third, ahead Carter, it's really great.
- A reaction time of 0.151 is good.
- Another sub 10 (now six !)
- I prefer Christophe fail now than at Deagu or Paris.

Twinsen9 we have to be optimistic. Only one year ago Lemaitre was very far of the best runners of the world. Now he is near in each race, he is getting sub10 easily and he is ONLY 21 years old¡¡¡¡¡
He can get final en Daegu and there if he does not have nerves perhaps 4th or 5th place, it is fantastic for young white runner , and an excellent and competitive runner.

We have to be gorgeous of BIG LEMAITRE

CONFRATULATIONS LEMAITRE

I think this is great guys. Yes he ran a bad first 30 meters but he still finished third in 9.95 and beat carter. This is another fast consistent time! If he had a better start and Saidy Ndure's reaction time he would have been in the mid 9.8x zone. Give him time to race and learn. His starts will get better and he will get stronger. Once that happens he will be an absolute beast. I know we all want the 9.8x, but think about it once he gets it we will all be talking about a 9.7x. He's capable of all this and more so be patient! On a side note - too bad Mancini finished last. Hopefully he will train hard and get faster!Edited by: Soccer&track

ummm i dont remember now exactly, we have see video better hehe, but yes i would tell that at beginning Lemaitre is very far, one of the last ones really.
Carraz has try improve those first meters of Lemaitre, that he get more potence, because there their main rivals get so much advantage.

The odd thing, now that I think about it, is that the British announcers said, "nice start for LeMaitre," when the gun went off, but afterwards called it an awful, awful start. And the reaction time was excellent. I really don't think the start was a problem. It was Guliyev-disease (i.e. a dreadful drive phase). From about 30 to 50 meters, he looked like he was going backwards. That's where Christophe simply isn't competitive with the best.

As I typed this, Dai Greene kicked ass in the 400m hurdles (this after an awesome 1-2-3 sweep of Uceny, Mischenko, Dehiba over all the Kenyans and Ethiopians in the women's 1500).

Christophe will train in august. And I'm sure Carraz will train him about firsts meters.

I'm a little disappointed but I think his 200 in Paris will be awesome nevertheless.

His coach mentioned that he will probably quit coaching after 2012 if Lemaitre were to move to train in jamiaca he would easily be 9.6 - 9.7 runner jamaicans place a huge emphasis on acceleration Powell was miles ahead they fo plenty of hills/sleds from what ive heard lemaitre does none of that, imagine how fast would he be if he had Powells drive phase and transition not only are you farther in the race but you also achir=eve higher speed = greater max velocity provided you have good enough mechnics (which Lemaitre has )

I told the last days the big difference in this moment between Lemaitre and his main rivals.

Today in his 9.78 Powell probably ran his first 60m in about 6.35.
Frater at 60m probably 6.40-6.45.
Lemaitre probably around 6.50-6.55.

Very slow yet for try win in this type of races.
Lemaitre has try get down 6.50 at 60m this year, and i think that is possible.
In his 9.96 in Montreuil did 6.52, he should to be about 6.48-6.49 in Daegu for have options.

Regards

Well, don't forget that :

Powell is born in 1982
Fratter is born in 1982
Saydi Ndure is born in 1984
Nesta Carter is born in 1985

Christophe is born in... 1990.<div>
</div><div>So, the experience gap is really important I think...

And Christophe said he is disappointed about his start, but he's happy to run again sub 10 and to tie his record.</div>

Of course Twinsen9 i told it before, this prodigy has only 21 YEARS OLD¡¡¡¡
These runners at same age were only good runners.

I don tell that Lemaitre can to be better that Powell, because im not sure, but his progression is only beginning and he is every day more and more consistent. It is very important and now he is ready for compete against the best runners in the world.

This year can to be around 9.90, perhaps next year 9.85 and in the future umm we dont know yet, but im sure that he will get excellent and amazing times and several international medals.

We have to be patiente, we can not wait that he get ALL now, he needs time , training and experience.

COME ON LEMAITRE, THE FUTURE IS YOURS

- Asafa Powell in 2003 (21 years old) : 10.02 (and 10.12 at 20 years old !)
- Michael Frater in 2003 (21 years old) : 10.13 (and 10.21 at 20 years old)
- Tyson Gay in 2002 (20 years old) : 10.27 (and 10.08 at Riety at 23 years old !)
- Nesta Carter in 2006 (21 years old) : 10.20 ! (and 10.69 at 20 years old)

Well, Christophe is awesome you don't think ?

So, about Frater... 9.88 is his PB or I'm wrong ?

Missed the race live but I watched it on youtube a few times. You guys have already took the words out of my mouth. His drive phase was the worst I have seen from him in around a year or so. He looked like he was running in quick sand as he was just not moving forward. They need some serious work from the starting blocks over the next month and a half. <div></div><div></div>On the bright side, he caught and passed up several sub 10 sprinters. No one can deny his top end speed is off the charts! I would love to know how fast he hits at his top end speed. I'm curious. I know it's in the mid 20's at least. Anyways, he still tied his record which is amazing. If they ran this race againg next weekend, I'm sure he would have had a better drive phase. I'm still excited as the sky is the limit. The most important thing is his reaction times are great and his confidence continues to grow. I am anxious for him to do it again. It's only a matter of time till the next p.b. and hopefully it will be in the high 9.80's like I predicted.

white lightning his top speed in his fastest races is about 0.85(every 10m), although im not sure if perhaps in these last races he can to be near 0.84, but well about 0.85.
His last 40m are very fast, around 3.43-3.45 usually. Only Bolt and Gay are clearly faster in these last meters.

The next week 200m against Bolt, i hope that get sub20. With good conditions im sure
