Thank you to our new member the argie. Welcome to the board. Are from France as we have many people from Europe that post here. We even have a few guys from Australia. The board is growing all the time. Excellent video but can anyone translate it to english. I'm curious to see what they are talking about in the weight room by the computer? Any help to french speaking members is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
His coach say Christone can run less than 9.9 in 2011 !!!

Christophe say he wasdisappointed about everybody who talk about his color, instead of his performance (when he run 9.98).<div>
</div><div>And yes, his coach say Christophe will be really great in 400m. But Christophe answered "no no no".</div>

Although I think Christophe would be great in the 400M, I prefer that he stick to the shorter disciplines to break up the dark-hued monotony which is ALL that us Yanks ever get to see.

I would be devastated if he moved up to a longer distance. The kid was born to be a 100 meters sprinter. I don't mind him running some 200's as well but the 100 is the jewel of track and field. The fastest man in the world has always been a special thing. He is faster then Powell, Gay and many others at his age. Why would they even consider anything else. The kid is a natural. I toolike his coach say he goes in the high 9.8's in 2011.

Thanks for describing the interview. We really appreciate it.

You never know. If Bolt is cycling his ummmm....yams....right.....(hehehe), then it's possible. Look at how short and average Bolt and Powells Season were last year. This year they will break out the super yams.

Regardless, I see PepeLeFlew having the potential to beat anyone on earth in a few years. I believe and I hope that both him and his coach do as well. Shoot for the stars! Why limit yourself. You can make mini goals but it's good to have major goals too. His main goal should be to attempt to be a gold medal olympic winner and be crowned the fastest man in the world. His secondary goal should be to break the world record. If Bolt is ever caught though, the record will be more obtainable. Right now it reminds me of the fake world record by Flo Jo.

While he needs to get stronger, I see no reason for him to bulk up, he's naturally slim. He needs to improve his form and technique, to maximize his sprinting. Reaction time from starting blocks to improve also. Overall, sky's the limit for this Frenchy.

Great race! Good find! The only guy who looked like he touched a weight was the black Frenchman, Mark Lewi-Francis! Lemaitre will be unstoppable once he increases his strength and power out of the blocks.

At the end of the year, found you in one of many books and you trustez various top placings. This inspires you what?
"It makes me happy." Always. It is also a little surprising. I thought all this would be me French champion of the year for all media. "This is a small surprise."
If you were to retain as a thing in 2010?
"To be passed in under ten seconds in 100 m."
All first in Valencia, July 9...
"This chrono (9 ' 98), is what I was looking for for a long time". Time base if I wanted to be part of the world best sprinters. "A forced crossing."
Which you remains to this day there?
"Many emotional satisfaction." It has just released me. We were talking about so, people spoke even that, that I spend below of ten. "I've finally released that expectation."
Is that this was the greatest time of year for you?
"Yes, I think."
And then there was Rieti (9 ' 97"), end of August...
"Even though as a first step, I especially was disappointed to have failed to do better, given the excellent conditions." I could take advantage of this miracle track to sign a very large performance. "Later, I told myself that I'd still confirmed my record, it wasn't a coincidence, I was really a time of less than ten legs."
You then won three titles at the European Championships. Was this your secret hope, prior to arriving in Barcelona?
"I thought not all succeed it." "This was done on the heap..."
Drawing on your physical reserves...
"It's true that it was very hard physically, I didn't have the habit of chained if high-level. "I've suffered but the mental played."
With your ability to meet present major appointments...
"I am fortunate to have a good mental, sticking taken even when I'm tired or a slightly wounded." "I've given everything."
You haven't had the air pressure of the event, despite your favourite label...
"Honestly, I was serene." I had a bit of pressure but good pressure, that can be super concentrated, properly applied. "Not that which paralyses and inhibits."
With all that has your life changed?
"Yes because I have more inputs, but it stops here." "It not was startled."
Move to 2011. With first national course in Miami from 14 to 28 January, with particular Doucouré and Garfield...
"This is super interesting to go." I discover another world of my sport, with a different culture. "I will be able to appreciate the change of mentality, a new training system".
The very first time will be constituted by 'Europe' in Bercy, room early March. What will be your ambition?
"I will have the obligation to shine on 60 m. I viserai title, necessarily, although this is not my race base."
And the world in Daegu, end of August?
"The final is the minimum." "There will be at the moment there."
Is the podium feasible, with Bolt, gay and Powell as adversaries?
"It is difficult to pick up at the moment." But at the start of a race, everything is possible. "If I finished 4 or 5 e, I am happy, it will be a good performance.
100 Or 200 m?
"It is not yet decided with Pierrot (Carraz coach)." "Even if my heart looking for 100 m. you see when the time comes."
Are you you fixed the chronometric objectives for 2011?
"Non- and I am not, for the moment." I intend to focus on the Championships and titles. "As always."

Excellent interview. The kid is just so mature for his age. I still do not want him to move up to just the 200. If he only did one event, then I would rather have him continue to run the 100 meters! Running 2 events is fine as long as the 100 is his main event that he races the most. He is a legend and he needs to continue his pursuit of running the fastest 100 that he is capable of. Christophe will be remembered far more for what he does over 100 meters decades from now. He is in the right event. Asafa Powell and Tyson Gay are also getting old. Stay the course Christophe. Continue running the 100 and good things will come!

He's one heck of a 100m man, and I expect him to get his times down at that distance over the next couple of years, but, sooner or later, I'm afraid he's going to break your heart and go 200/400, like Michael Johnson.

That's a potentially bad career move, Lemaitre is a NATURAL 100 meter sprinter. You don't run a 9.97 and still be considered for the 400, Lemaitre has trouble managing the curves. So he's at his best in a straight line sprint.

Between the weather and Christophe being sick alot, his training is a little behind scheule. Hopefully the trip to Florida will be just what the doctor ordered. He will be competing in the World Indoor Champs in Paris. Even though he is not a great indoor sprinter, I wouldn't count him out. The guy just finds a way to win in the biggest competetions time after time. He is a warrior! I would love to see him get his 60 times down to around a 6.50 or under. That would be great!

He's been sick? Is there a link for that? I'd like to see him get some uninterrupted weight training in.

He is feeling a little better now but he was sick for almost a month straight. It was mentioned in an interview and in one of the videos. He had to skip alot of training by his coach says he will get him back on track. I really don't think he has done too much in the weight room. He looks the same as last year. Regardless, he needs to improve his start, and form to help him lower his times.

The 20-year-old was the outstanding athlete at the European Championships last year in Barcelona (Spain). There was the "French-Turbo" three times European champion and won the crown over the next 100 meters and 200 meters on the track and with the French 4x100 meter relay.

He is the first athlete in Europe who managed to win in these three distances with the same European Championship gold medal.France's sportsman of the year is also the first white sprinter, torun the 100 meters in under ten seconds.

In the footsteps of Ronald Pognon

After his great successes in the open Christophe Lemaitre will now also build on these achievements in the hall. The EM-Match in Paris (France) in early March under the umbrella of their titles.

Because it suits the fences at the BW Bank Meeting in Karlsruhe. There by the way compatriot Ronald Pognon has since 2005 with 6.45 seconds, the meeting record. The best time over the 60meters from Christophe Lemaitre stands at 6.55 seconds.

Anyway he is beyond his training timetable because he was sick on december (like WL said), his coach said that he will be under his real performances in the indoor season because he couldn't train so well, but he will be ready for the outdoor season because he will have a full training between march and may
also he is (finally!) having a monitored dissection of his run and strides and getting shoes specially designed for him

here's an article about training for speed. The guest interviewee, Jon Goodwin specifically mentions what he'd do with Christophe if he had him for a season. Interesting (Christophe is mentioned in point 5).
I must say that his first sub 10 in Valence (where they do a slo-mo side on) convinced me that his hip mobility contibuted greatly to his speed. This puts it into a bit more perspective for me.

But then, as the saying goes, coaches have ruined more athletes than they've made.
