Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

Did his coach ever coach another world class sprinter? Sometimes athletes stick with club level coaches who have never coached beyond local meets. Does anybody know about his coaches background? You would think that Lemaitre would have a coach that had a few national level sprinters.

As I wrote some time ago, His Coach (Mr Carraz) is a 70 years old retired hi-school sport teacher. He's benevolent.
He never trained any hi level sprinter (France never had any wolrd class sprinter except Ms christine Aron, 100 m European record holder)
This kind of coach is good at the beginning as he makes CL feel good (he's a shy person). But for sure, CL will have to shift to another world class coach in a near futur if he wants to run to a world level. His actual coach is supposed to train him until 2012.

So as you said, France never have a "nugget" as CL before, so... none french coach can prove their abilities to train a world runner... And everybody have a first no ?

Let Carraz coach CL... and if CL don't improve his start et others flaws, ok, CL will have to change.

at the 20min docu of Canal plus (it will be online around the 25th of sept -patience ) , they depict the portrait of Pierre Carraz the coach; he's 70 years old anda former top class athlete, he's an old school but still very competent. And he said that the parents of Christophe insisted that he coaches him until he matures, so he agreed to coach him until 2012 then he'll retire.

hehe like is common here, talking about PEDS, it is very boring.
In THEORY, we are here for talk about LEMAITRE.
In my opinion i must totally in Bolt(i have my reasons), and well the other runners perhaps can be doubtful but until that they are not banned i think that they should be respected.
By talking about PEDS, it is not make better runnerto Lemaitre. He has big talent but he has improve many things in technique.

Zell--nothing we talk about on any topic, will make ever LeMaitre faster or slower. The boards exist for our entertainment. We discuss whatever interests us. Many of us are angry at watching an athlete we have grown to love compete against drug cheats with unfair advantages. This same discussion goes on at every track board for both sprints and distances. No knowledgeable track fan denies the heavy-duty juicing going on. It bothers us. Apparently, it doesn't bother you. That's fine.

Seth--no one here ever claimed all white sprinters are clean. Have you seen even one post make that claim? I'll just come out and say it: LeBlanc looks like a juicer, and Connaughton even more so. They bear no resemblance to the white sprinters of the past, like Armin Hary, Dave Syme, Lindy Remignino (sp), Bobby Morrow, etc, not one of whom was buff. All were skinny and all defeated their (also skinny) black opponents from around the world. LeMaitre, on the other hand, shows ZERO signs of juicing which makes him doubly refreshing, and makes it TWO ways that he is clearly distinguished from Powell, Gay, Bolt. Yes, we have recommended CL train harder in the weight room, but lifting weights does not equal juicing.

Actually, I think Seth raises a difficult philosophical question, and I'm sure it is facing Christophe every day. Some reasonable people may argue that CL should level the playing field by following the chemical path of Bolt and Powell. I'm thrilled to have seen him clean, as we will always be able to look at what he has done, age 20, and say he was the fastest clean sprinter in the world. But I wonder, how many of you guys, if you were Christophe's coach, would say, "Look, you're great, and you'd easily win the Clean Olympics, but there's no such thing as a Clean Olympics, and all of your competitors are chemical athletes, and I think you have no choice but to join them?" Just curious. Everyone is entitled to his opinion.

I prefer worry about Lemaitre and his conditions and not about if some runners use PEDS.
It should bethe problem of them, and IAAF before or later will ban these runners, im sure.
And i must in Bolt,is a prodigy since 15 years, and he does nothave body of bodybuilder. Yes, he has now more muscle, but not so much for his height. He is very tall and most runners has more weight for the height that him(Lewis-Francis is an example very good, he looks VERY MUSCLEMAN)

And i wait and hope that Lemaitre is in the top3 in 100m, perhaps 2-3 years i think, he is very young a lot of for improve.

Here is a little game for 2011. I'm sure every body has is own opinion. Let's fill it in and have fun in 2011 with the result. Until then, we'll have time to argue wether or not he is going to run fast. I put most the usual writer in the list. Sorry if I forget someone. Very interesting game LoLy.
Really run 200 is harder that people think.
74 men made sub10 until today, but only 41 men sub20.
Most runners not run faster 200 that 100(100x2)
Only M. Johnson, F. Fredericks a few faster and Bolt very near(perhaps if jamaican is not tired after several races 100 and 200, could be a few faster that 100x2)
Other few that are faster 200 that in 2x100 are Dix and Spearmon.

Lemaitre in this moment 9.97 and 20.16, we can see that the have work his endurance.
Lemaitre can get next year about 9.90 and 200 sub20, 19.9x.
If he want run 200 faster that 2x100 in my opinion he should improve so much his endurance, and i have doubts that he get it.Edited by: ZELLGADISS

but,seriously,you can do better than the above....purporting that 70 sub 10 sprinters before Christophe were all juiced (I can pretty much vouch for Patrick Johnson with our strict testing regimen and he's s done a 9.93).

I think Christophe can go 9.9s low and sub 20 next year. Depends on how many top meets he can compete in. The more chances to run electronically timed quality meets the better.
He has proved he is a winner and we've seen the benefit of racing the top guys week after week. The touring Americans and Jamaicans are prepared to race in Europe often more than once a week and Christophe may need to do that too

I agree with this. Most coaches would have already tried to correct the flaws -- with the result that an 11.0 sprinter would have dropped down to maybe 10.7. But indeed, Carraz has the good sense to step back and say "Christophe's greatest strength is that he runs with a certain recklessnes." It is a memorable line.

Maybe trackster's thought of having Lemaitre run a few 400's isn't such a bad idea. That distance would almost force a more efficient running form, although it might also be bad because it would squash that natural "recklessness".

Actually, I think Seth raises a difficult philosophical question, and I'm sure it is facing Christophe every day.  Some reasonable people may argue that CL should level the playing field by following the chemical path of Bolt and Powell.  I'm thrilled to have seen him clean, as we will always be able to look at what he has done, age 20, and say he was the fastest clean sprinter in the world.  But I wonder, how many of you guys, if you were Christophe's coach, would say, "Look, you're great, and you'd easily win the Clean Olympics, but there's no such thing as a Clean Olympics, and all of your competitors are chemical athletes, and I think you have no choice but to join them?" Just curious.  Everyone is entitled to his opinion.

I think it is an even easier philosophical question for many, something like "this over-training is killing me, my muscles hurt, my tendons are strained, and I cannot recover in time for the next training session. Doc, do you have something to help me?" And then from there, the field becomes wide open.

I am still of the opinion that sports are the gateway to drugs. Looking at the way that it extends the career, I am not sure that it is really unhealthy. But I've distracted from the thread.

didn't you read where I don't think all of them juice? I'll post that again so you can read it. and I didn't say all 70 were on PED's, I just picked some of the big names from the past 20 years, and never said Patrick Johnson was on PEDs.

and fastest this year translated translated to wind his 10.06 in Barcelona.
Without wind his 10.04 was 10.052 with 0.12 RT

I like to do this because know you can really see what his running sprint improvement was.
Becuase sometimes you are in your best shape in the summer at the times that you have often not good wind and sometimes the oppositte.
Same with reaction time sometimes you run good but have a bad reaction time or the oppossitte.

If he is able to run sub 6.5 coming indoor season I really see him with his good top speed as a contender for a medal in 2012 Olympics.

I think he can run a 9.87 next year then I take his best race when it is 0.0 wind.
200 meters 19.96, it's just gambling lol.We can't watch inside the muscles of him.
I think his top speed is now 0.85 10 meter speed, 0.855 or so in 2009 and was around 0.90 in 2008.I think his improvement came mostly froma better start and the good thing is his start is still not so he can hopefully improve it technically.

I looked up the fast 100 meter splits and I didn't find a really correlation between fast start and bodybuilt and bodybuild and fast top speed splits.

But what I did see is that sub 10 sprinter have most of the time very tiny calves which is probaly good for top speed.
