that is exactly how Michael Johnson thinks of him too. He thinks his rawness now indicates room fo rlots of improvement. He's the "real deal" Johnson agreed

I wish he'd shave off the porno flick moustache

I notice Martial Mbandjock is running on Friday. Not Lemaitre though. Maybe he just needs more time to recover at this stageEdited by: mastermulti

As I always hear comparison with Yohan Blake, hearing that Blake is a lot better than CL, I just googleized him, to find out on wiki, that he was caught under drug in 2009 !

When so many sprinters fromthe same country are caught under drugs, It's normal that people start to have doubts to other sprinter of the same country, like bolt (even if that doesn't mean that he is under drug)

If 5 Kenyans were caught under drug, we would have doubt about performance from other competitors.

i second jaxvid's thoughts on it being a good introduction to the site, as well. very well said, sir.
<div> </div>
<div>as for the culture of Whiteness or the White genes, they are both superior and both arise together. i don't know if it's truly his, but i've seen a quote attributed to Ralph Waldo Emerson that sums it up nicely:  "If the race is good, so is the place."</div>

I agree with Jimmy C and Jaxvid. Great post Giovani. Balanced and well put together. Thank you for taking the time to compose it. I also appreciate the Emerson (or whoever) quote. Says it all.

"So your opinion is that certain members of this site are racists who are paranoid of blacks? Great analysis. Which members would that be? Would you include me since I say Bolt is on PED's? Please fill me in wise man."whiteathlete33

oooh bit touchy there!
hadn't given you a thought actually!

I was alluding to the trolls who come on here to vent their spleen and see it as the right forum for their bigotry. One of the c**ts was a countryman of mine I'm ashamed to say

A site like this will inevtiably attract some people whose views on race are somewhat dark and nasty, and I guess we just have to put up with that.

On the plus side, there are plenty of people here who concentrate more on the 'for whites' side of things rather than the 'against blacks' bandwagon. This site will always be a good place to celebrate white achievment and to comment on the blatant caste system in popular sport.

Im with foobar75, Lemaitre this year perhaps can make about 9.95 with a little luck and a good wind positive.
In Daegu 2011 he should arrive until the final in 100m, in 200 i see it very hard because his curve is very bad yet.
In London 2012 i think that if he improves more and he has about 10-15 lbs more muscle(it is few, and he is very slim in this moment)and potence, he could get a bronze in 100m and perhaps final in 200m.
Really i doubt that Lemaitre gets someday to be the best in 100m, but in top3 i think that in 2-4 years he will get it ;)

until now for 2010, CL is the 7th fastest runner.

It's interesting to see how many times he had run below 10'10 this season. check the table form iaaf:

I just got back from vacation, so I've been spending the past hour reading posts and watching videos from the Euro championships. Sounds like I missed some exciting races, especially from Christophe. Anyway, here's a great article someone posted on a Let's Run message board. It's from Sweden and has some very interesting insider quotes from a Swedish track coach who's seen LeMaitre in training and learned a few things. Some indications of LeMaitres current speed, plus more grist for the mill for those of us who feel that LeMaitre needs to get stronger to improve his starts: He can't even lift as much weight as Sweden's top female sprinter. Here's the post from that board:

European sprint king thinner than Sweden's fastest woman
BARCELONA. EM's sprint king Christophe Lemaitre is weaker than Swedish sprint girl Lena Berntsson.

-
I have heard from a French coach, I know that he takes 45 kg in snatch.
It's almost ridiculous, "said Swedish sprint coach Hakan Andersson.

Lena Berntsson taking 72 kg - Swedish record in 53-kg class for women.

Lena Berntsson's individual EM-off ended with a last place in the first trial heat in the 100 meters with the time 11.84.

Christophe
Lemaitre won his second European Championship gold medal when he won
the 200 meters yesterday. But he is still weaker than Lena Berntsson in
moments of strength and pressure deep benböj.

- I have good
contact with the French sprint coach Jean-Pierre Vazel who trains
including Christine Arron. According to him, takes Lemaitre 45 kg in
snatch and 100 kg in the deep squat. But he has barely begun weight
training yet. The question is what happens when he does it.

Think of 9.80 at 100 m
Now
may be a bit Lemaitre excused, when Lena Berntsson also a Swedish girl
in the weightlifting team. Frenchman concentration is 190 centimeters
tall, but weighs only 74 kg.

How well do Lemaitre be when he grows up and fit?

-
I've clocked him now and he has a brutal sprint endurance. He loses
almost no speed between 60-80 meters and 80-100. He has even greater
endurance than Usain Bolt. At 100 meters, he should be able to run down
to 9.80 and the 200, I think he can run at 19.70, "said Hakan Andersson.

Can he be better than Bolt?

- No. I can not believe it. Bolt is in a class by itself. But I've been wrong before.

"Lots to learn
The just turned 20-year-old from Annecy can already call themselves EM King.

He has a chance at a third European Championship gold in the 4x100 meter relay, even though Britain is the favorite on paper.

But
what everybody already knows is that his double-gold European
Championships here in Barcelona is just the beginning of something even
bigger.

- I see myself still am not a professional athlete, "he said earlier in this Championship.

- I have lots left to learn.

He
became a world first just before the European Championships when he
became the first white to run for ten seconds, then he made 9.98 on the
French championship.

But now, ten blank no particularly remarkable time in the 100 meters.

A total of 71 runners have run for ten seconds of all time.

Interesting article trackster.
Really Lemaitre has get more potence and improve his start.
If he gets it will down sub 9.90.
Although in one thing i dont think it. "He loses almost no speed between 60-80 meters and 80-100. He has even greater endurance than Usain Bolt"
Really Lemaitre at least in this moment has a lot of less endurance that Bolt. It is big diffence in this moment of Bolt with the others.
By example in Berlin Bolt has almost same speed since 40-100 m¡¡¡¡
So in this one, the article is wrong.

By other hand if Lemaitre improve his errors, he will be in the top3 worldwide very soon :)
I hope that Lemaitre the next year get several sub10 ;)

Looking the wind, the race in semifinal in Barcelona of Lemaitre is much better that his record of 9.98.
His 10.06 with wind -1.2 is about 9.99 with 0.0 and his 9.98 with wind +1.3 is about 10.05 with 0.0
So if Lemaitre get this year one race with good possitive wind, i think that i will break his record :)

And according to this article, Christophe once again had the slowest reaction time in the field. Imagine if he could 1) stop being nervous about false-starting 2) start lifting enough that he could at least match the strength of a female sprinter (see earlier article) and 3) use that strength to blast out of the blocks early and improve his form late. Voila--you'd have a Bolt buster!

Also, to the historical-minded, what famous sprinter does he look like in this cowboy hat?:

trackster i think that the comments of former coach of Pietro Mennea about 9.78 Lemaitreare so much optimistic at least in the next year.
In the future i think that is possible, perfect weather, great form,Lemaitre in his peak, 2.0 m/s possitive wind,... yes could be possible that time with perfect conditions in some years.

If Bolt or Powell or Gay were as skinny as Lemaitre... how fast would they be running? I would say somewhere between 10.10-10.20.

Gay was skinny in college. Bolt didn't have much muscle until after he "got serious" in late 2007. Powell has put on a lot of muscle in the past three years or so, but I don't know if he ever was really scrawny.

Observer i think that although Powell or Gay were slim, they would make sub10, perhaps no sub9.90 but sub10 i think that yes.
And Bolt i read that with 15 year and very slim ran about 10.3 , so Bolt could make 9.80 although he is very slim(but the big problem is that if you are very slim when you have potence and big speed, you have a lot of injuries, like Bolt had between 17-20 years).

I doubt Lemaitre will peak next year, he will no doubt improve but his prime and best times are still 2-4 years away IMO. When Chris is between 23-27 years of age I fully expect him to be one of the top 3 sprinters in the world and occasionally beating anyone who's there, especially if they're clean!

Gay has put on muscle in the right places since he turned professional. He has dropped .4 seconds since his skinny years. He is currently listed at 165 lbs. Gay was a little under 10.10 when he was underdeveloped.

Birth 09/08/1982
200510.080.5Rieti28/08/2005
200410.061.7Austin, TX11/06/2004
200210.270.7Palo Alto, CA21/06/2002
200110.28Lafayette09/05/2001

Bolt was listed at 165 lbs. three or so years ago. Now he is showing as 207. That's a pretty impressive lean weight gain on a person who hasn't gotten any taller in almost nine years. He has knocked off .45 since his underdeveloped years.

I don't know if Powell was ever really overly scrawny like both Bolt and Gay were.

Ben Johnson figured there was about .5 seconds difference for his enhanced strength.

Why would a .3 or .4 betterment be too much for Lemaitre? It seems to be the general pattern. If the answer is "Lemaitre might not put on strength as easily as these other men". But neither Bolt nor Gay were easy-gainers as far as muscular development. Obviously, Bolt wasn't putting on very much muscle even after years of serious competition. I think Gay has worked pretty hard at it since he's been a professional.

I totally agree with your whole comment. Lemaitre is supposed to practice weight training only once a week. And let's think that Lemaitre is not professional. he was graduating from college.

Also think his coach his a 70 years old retired high school sport teacher. He is benevolent (unpaid)!

Think also that France never had any world class sprint champion in the past. That means there is no "sprint school" with "sprint specialist coach" like in Jamaica or US.

With the right coach, the right technical training, the right weight training (and no health problem), this kid will certainly run below 9.80. When? I think that could happen for London 2012.

True Loly i think that Lemaitre could be about 9.80-9.85 between 2012-2014.
With these marks he can get medals in big events :)

wow, why would I ever think he's on PED's?

from the start of high school to the end of college I put on 15 lbs of muscle. I worked out almost everyday like a freak for 8 years and 15lbs was as much as I could put on. also, as my weight went up I noticed I had a better start & driver phase, but I lost a bit in the maintenance (last 20m) of my 100m.

so to put on 42lbs in 3-4 year is just not possible without drugs.

I remember him being listed as 72 kg (159 lbs) and 192 cm height (6 feet 3.5).Even tinner then lemaitre. i thought it was in 2006, now he is 1.5 inch taller at 6.5 and 48 lbs more weight. And i read that he don't like to work out in the gym and doesn't do it much.

albinosprint you are obssesed with PED, if Lemaitre in 4 years get 10-12 kg more than now and he down 9.80 you will tell PED?????
Bolt was 170 lbs or 76 kgabout 4 or 5 years ago(the problem is that the last not updated in several years) You can see the profile of Bolt in IAAF, they tell that Bolt weight is 76 kg yet¡¡¡¡
In 5 years go 76 kg until 86 kg(some fonts tell it) or 93 kg(in his personal website put it) for me is not impossible.
He was teenager and now is adult.
Lemaitre too, he is not 100% proffesional, when he train very hard in the next years, you will the difference between Lemaitre with 20 years and with 24 years.

If a person is not getting taller, this sure is a lot of lean weight for an athlete involved in active competition. A bodybuilder is able to put on lean weight, but this weight is not entirely (or even primarily) muscle. A body builder does add muscle, but primarily veins and arteries and tissue that supply oxygen and nutrients to the muscle for this kind of hypertrophic training. I don't think that this is the kind of tissue that is useful to a competitive sprinter. I would think that power (like that of an Olympic-style weightlifter and maybe also power-lifting) rather than mass and size would be the primary aim of a sprinter's muscle training. Maybe there is some value in having mass in the chest and torso to act as a kind of stabilizing anchor. However, I would think that generally, MASS for a sprinter is "bad", but POWER is "good". Obviously, there is a good deal of overlap between these two things, but they are not really the same at all.

Maybe someone with knowledge about weightlifting can chime in here. Is 42-48 lbs. of lean gain of power-type muscle believable? I think it is believable for gains of this magnitude in hypertrophy-type of training, but much of that gain is not actually muscle, but rather the feeding system to the muscle. Edited by: Observer

Really Bolt gets between 20 lbs(86 kgs for some fonts)and 35 lbs(max 93 kgs)in 5 years(i repeat the information in the past about Bolt is wrong, Bolt has in the IAAF profile 76 kg yet, and he has that same weight about 5 years ago in the website IAAF profile)
i dont think it is IMPOSSIBLE.
Since 19 until 24 years now.
